Why should we be made to lie?

Before the guidelines we, biological women, were free to tell the truth about people who present as the opposite sex.

Now we can't. Even if we abide by the rules and not use the acronyms listed we can still get a strike, three strikes and we are out.

I will NOT refer to people who present as the opposite sex as trans wo/men. That steals my sex and I won't do it. I tried to use another name I thought was reasonable - nope, not acceptable and got a strike.

MN, why do you want your members to lie. I along with millions like me were brought up always to tell the truth, yet here on MN that's looked down on. Why?

I am not going to lie and call males females to appease you or them.
How can anyone, with any sense, ask women to do this.
Wow. Justine you have seriously let us all down. It is very sad.

Saw this today and it's just more softening up for the cultural purgatory of affirmation at all costs including truth. It's the Daily Mail on the BBC Head of Comedy Commissioning (208k thanks ever so) saying Monty Python is too over educated, male and pale to ever be commissioned nowadays.

Almost certainly true - but why pick Monty Python when there are so many other appalling sexist female-exclusionary teams and programmes, not excluding the dreary Boy Meets Girl commissioned by Shane Allen after years of interactions between transadvocates and the BBC.

Monty Python is being de-sanctified, in my opinion, quite deliberately. It's honesty and observation in debunking the absurd is not to be borne in the new world of universal deceit, and tolerating the intolerant. Could Life of Brian be made today? No way. And they call themselves progressive.

always worth a little turn out

Pratchet · 20/06/2018 06:47

Its not it's

dfg4356 · 20/06/2018 06:58

It is very Orwellian.

Language is power.

Very disturbing that as the far right rise across the globe, that women are literally being deprived of the language to describe their oppression.

I can't think of any other form of oppression currently where the language is literally policed such that even describing the oppression is banned.

Pratchet · 20/06/2018 07:59

If the UK loses we will globally be in a very end of days situation. It will get worse and worse. All sex-based rights will be written out of the law.

ScienceIsTruth · 21/06/2018 00:29

I don't know who originally said it, and I've posted this comment before, but if we are not allowed to say that transwomen are men, surely it's only fair that no one is allowed to say that transwomen are women either. Seeing as we aren't allowed to refer to sex. Can anyone @mnhq confirm this for me please?

ScienceIsTruth · 21/06/2018 00:33

@crayoladreamz, then maybe @justinemumsnet and @MNHQ need to change their brand's name to MENSNET. I'm beginning to think it would be more apt.

Writersblock2 · 21/06/2018 00:37

I won’t lie either. Ban all of us. What will happen to your site then? We are fighting for our existence here. We won’t be silenced.

ScienceIsTruth · 21/06/2018 01:45

@MNHQ built their empire on the backs of women (by women and for women), and now, in order to appease some vocal men, they're selling us out and betraying their core market (& themselves).

I will not lie to appease abusers. Humans CANNOT change sex. We are not Clownfish.

ElliePhantW33 I'm going to say this slowly.

Fuck Off And Stop Stamping Around The Board Laying The Law Down To Women And Being A Trolling GF. Got it? Good!

We have to lie to appease male privilege, of course.

Were it transmen bullying women, there is no way on earth so many organisations would be rolling over and playing meek.

TRAs are male privilege personified. It's like the emperor's new clothes. Everyone sees it but isn't allowed to say it.

Lying to appease men is what we are taught from a young age. I abhor that womens' organisations, woman-friendly organisations, are now on this male appeasement bandwagon

It is Womanphobic.

It's not a legal fact that 'MTF' are women. It's legal fact that some them, who have a GRC, have the legal right to be treated as if they were female except in certain circumstances.

I find your posts upsetting and insulting because they deny women's existence as a sex class and they deny my daughter's womanhood.

BabyItsAWildWorld · 21/06/2018 08:57

If we have to use the term trans women instead of {Acronym} can we always qualify it with: TW, who are biologically male, as this is a scientific fact relevant to all discussions of trans issues on FWR.

If they weren't male we wouldn't be discussing it.

Surely MNHQ can see they can't stop us naming the central point of the discussion without weird coersive tactics?

BeyondSceptical · 21/06/2018 09:45

Thinking about it over the last few days, I would be okay with a rule that male-born [acronyms] are generally referred to as transwomen, but only if so long as when there was a situation where sex is the important bit and not gender-identity, it were okay to use: "men, transwomen, and any other males who do not identity as males".

Cause y'know, "transwomen" erases those with other non-male identities...

BeyondSceptical · 21/06/2018 09:47

Ellie, can you clarify whether your use of "delusional" is in the medical context (in which I would use it), or whether it is an attack and I should report it?

Cause I'm guessing that MNers aren't generally diagnosed as delusional, but I want to give you the benefit of the doubt :)

Pratchet · 21/06/2018 09:48

I would have been but now some transactivists have basically declared war, I won't use woman or girl in any form to describe male-born people.
