Ever single time. Every single time. Every single time.

I am being asked how men turn into women.

I say they can't. They turn into transwomen. These are men who change their bodies to be as much like women as possible, but are still men.

Every single time I teach pregnancy I am asked how men can do it.

Every single time we go through genetics I get a shocked response for saying "this is male, this is female"

Every single time I make any distinction between male and female I am asked "are you allowed to say that?

I equate being ordered to teach that men can become woman to previous generations of teachers being ordered to teach nazi race science.

I am quite sure I will be sacked one day

Excuse me? Are you calling me racist and homophobic? You want to withdraw that?

Floeer · 11/06/2018 16:13

There can only be equality when differences are accepted and respected. Transwomen are not women because they are biologically different to women but that doesn't mean in treating their biology different that we aren't creating equality.

daimbars · 11/06/2018 16:15

Nope i wasn't personally calling you racist or homophobic. I was comparing transphobia to racism and homophobia.

Floeer · 11/06/2018 16:17

oh and as a continuation of the womb transplants, it is now from living donors not just the dead! I think key thing to note is that it is the womb that is being transferred only, not the ovaries etc.

Floeer · 11/06/2018 16:18

daim you missed out sexists there...?

But note sure what your list was responding to directly?

Pratchet · 11/06/2018 16:20

And you are accusing me of transphobia? On what basis?

Bowlofbabelfish · 11/06/2018 16:20

daim TRA ideology is about as homophobic as it gets.

Terfulike · 11/06/2018 16:21

Not genetically. I am not criticising adoption and egg donation. I would be kind when speaking to individuals but biologically they are not the parent/mother.

titchy · 11/06/2018 16:23

birth mother gave birth to a child which she had no genetic relationship with. But she's still their mother.

And? No one disputes that. No one disputes that adoptive parents are still parents. What's that got to do with it?

Trans women are different to biological women and face very different issues and prejudices. That doesn't mean tw don't face issues and prejudices, but not the same ones. And where those two clash, tw don't have automatic right over biological women. It should be the other way round if anything because biological women are physically weaker as a whole.

daimbars · 11/06/2018 16:25

But we will always be right. Trans'women' are trans-identified men. They are not women, they are men.

Deliberately mis gendering is transphobia. See screen shot from Wikipedia.
You might not like it and you might not agree but it is transphobia.

Why is it so very important that people believe males can be women, Daimbars?

I don't and can't believe it. It makes a nonsense of both terms. That doesn't seem to me to be a question of prejudice or hatred, just simple bafflement that you want to use a word to mean its opposite.

Why does it matter so very much that people don't believe males to be female? Why are facts seem as offensive and prejudiced?

DodoPatrol · 11/06/2018 16:30

And that Wikipedia entry neatly illustrates all the problems with calling males female, really. Of course people who are not female should be excluded from those things specifically set up to counter the disadvantages of being female. That's rather the point. They don't share those specific disadvantages so they don't need those specific compensations.

Siiiiiiggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

LangCleg · 11/06/2018 16:31

See screen shot from Wikipedia.

Is that the same Wikipedia renowned for having a clique of transactivist editors who swamp and alter all the pages that even remotely apply to their ideology?

Perhaps we should sack all our school science teachers and have them come and do all the human reproduction education?

Do you think one of them might find that pesky third gamete?

Terfulike · 11/06/2018 16:32

I dont personally agree that "misgendering" is transphobia.
I don't regard Wiki as an authority. I don't call anorexics fat either.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 11/06/2018 16:33

I can still remember my shock and disgust when I first came across the Cotton Ceiling. Trans ideology is utterly homophobic and misogynistic

OldCrone · 11/06/2018 16:34

Despite these biological differences I am willing to treat a trans woman exactly the same as any other woman.

Even if that disadvantages the other woman, daimbars? On what grounds do you think that transwomen should have more rights than women? Are you a misogynist?

daimbars · 11/06/2018 16:35

Terfulike it's fair enough for you to define what you believe a woman to be but not fair for you to define transphobia.

Otherwise we would have racists defining racism and homophobes defining homophobia!

Pratchet · 11/06/2018 16:35

Lol at quoting wiki. It's written by transactivists.

Pratchet · 11/06/2018 16:36

Phobia has a meaning. You can't just make up your own.

daimbars · 11/06/2018 16:36

Pratchet are you saying terfulike wrote it?! Wink

Too soon?

daimbars · 11/06/2018 16:37

Phobia means irrational fear which sums up the word very nicely IMO.

LangCleg · 11/06/2018 16:37

So, we seem to be agreed on this at least:

transactivists consider the accurate teaching of the biology involved in human reproduction to be transphobic and believe the metaphysical notion of gender identity should be taught in science lessons

The actual disagreement is about whether or not this is a good idea.

Melanippe · 11/06/2018 16:38

if you RTFT you would know very well I'm not a TRA.

I have read the fucking thread thanks, and you might need to go and have a think about things if you honestly believe you don't come over as a TRA, because you do.

Neither is terfulike.

I know.

There was a long discussion about it yesterday. There were even tears and apologies! Throwing TRA accusations around is pretty tedious

The apologies were to Terfulike, not you. Having to deal with TRA derails is more tedious by far especially dull ones about lavatories.

and I wasn't the one who brought up bathrooms.

This has already been shown to be a lie.

So, perhaps you could answer the questions posed instead of flailing? I won't hold my breath though.

Pratchet · 11/06/2018 16:38

But I don't have an irrational fear. Not so my fellow travellers.

LangCleg · 11/06/2018 16:39

Trans ideology is utterly homophobic and misogynistic

And right wing. Never forget to include this hyper-capitalist, hyper-individualist ideology is also right wing. It's a Trojan horse currently destroying the left.
