Still not much smell nor taste but I am improving. I can breathe and the cough is reducing.

I might risk a ginger and lemon. And some music while I recover from disassembling and reassembling a piece of furniture after cleaning all of its nooks and crannies.

I'm having a rough time with a jobsworth and in need of a bracer to keep my eyes on the prize and retain my full tact and diplomacy in the face of no co-operation.

I have a meeting to attend, in an unknown venue, with unknown seating plan, unknown speakers, specialist topic etc. I have substantial hearing loss so asked the organisers if I could have a seat with a good sightline to the speakers and to be notified of any unusual vocabulary items. It's standard practice to ensure that I can see the speaker and that they know not to turn their backs and talk, cover their mouths etc.

The overall organiser told me that I'd need to speak to the people there on the day. I've asked for a contact address in advance so that I can have this in place (it's not fair to spring it on people) and am getting nowhere.

I need something calming and yet bracing...Honey, ginger, and lemon with a smidgen of chilli? Or just the honey, ginger, and lemon with some spiced tapas style broad beans?

QuentinWinters · 31/10/2018 13:24

That sounds spectacularly rubbish Arran, hope it goes well.

arranfan · 03/11/2018 16:24

Meeting amenities still not sorted despite multiple contacts and the organiser is plainly hacked off with my requests.

Very busy weekend and workdays leading up to the event so there's only so much that I can do.

Bracer and snacks welcome. I'll see if lively or soothing music or hubbub suits me better.

QuentinWinters · 04/11/2018 15:10

I need some kind of soothing ambience and drink today. Plus cake I think

arranfan · 04/11/2018 15:16

I have plenty fruit cake to leave on the counter for those who fancy it. I'll drop some cheese, smoked nuts, and tapas-style bits as well.

I might have one of those orange and almond cakes as well if that suits?

LauraMipsum · 04/11/2018 19:06

I've got a posh scented candle going (someone gave me one as a gift - I've never owned one before, but it's lovely!) and I think it might be time for an end of weekend gin. Smoked nuts would be just the thing, I'll swap you for a gin if you like arran

QuentinWinters · 04/11/2018 20:02

Ooh candle sounds lush laura

bluetitsaretits · 04/11/2018 21:56

Evening all. That cake sounds lovely, I have some fresh ginger, honey and real lemon drink here if anyone needs a comforter.
Artist Rachel Maclean's film 'make me up' is on BBC4 at 10 (on iplayer after).
"This darkly-comic film takes a satirical look at the contradictory pressures faced by woman today. "
Should be good. Weird, but good.

Been travelling for work and am away from home so could do with a settling and calming nightcap.

A hot elderflower or pink ginger would be good.

The company's gentle hubbub can soothe me as I settle down and then wend my way to bed.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/11/2018 23:32

I've never had hot elderflower - it's the quintessence of early summer so I can't quite imagine it other than chilled. More the ginger season now.

ISaySteadyOn · 09/11/2018 22:53

Can I collapse on the sofa please? I have just disagreed with a good friend about the word 'cis'. She doesn't hate me and we didn't argue, we disagreed but dear Goddess, it was hard to say it. I had to though!

arranfan · 09/11/2018 23:09

You sound in need of something that is both nerve-bracing and soothing, ISaySteadyOn - what's your preference?

BirdseyeFrozen · 10/11/2018 00:07

Evening all, I plucked up the nerve to call in before bed. Just checking that there is no swearing going on.
You are all an inspiration, I know it gets so tough for you all at times, but a big thank you, you keep me sane. Flowers

ISaySteadyOn · 10/11/2018 06:10

Cup of tea, please. Something calming.

ISaySteadyOn · 10/11/2018 06:12

On a happier note, DD1 made a figure of a suffragette out of pizza dough yesterday and said 'I made it for you, mummy. 'Smile

MistressFunbox · 10/11/2018 06:22

I wish I had suffragette pizza

I'm drunk in New York. My Bodyclock thinks it's a week next Tuesday and I don't know what to do!

(Probably have another drink?)

QuentinWinters · 10/11/2018 08:44

R u ok Isay?

ErrolTheDragon · 10/11/2018 09:43

I wish I had suffragette pizza
That could be a thing... the white and green are easy (mozzarella, spinach and/or basil) - purple is a bit harder, is there anything other than aubergine or rare-breed tomatoes?

ISaySteadyOn · 10/11/2018 09:45

I am ok. Just worried about it and wishing I knew some of you irl.

QuentinWinters · 10/11/2018 13:52

Pm me if you like isay Flowers

errol there's that purple cauliflower. Red cabbage. Purple kale

arranfan · 10/11/2018 14:34

Red onions. Sour plum?

ISaySteadyOn · 10/11/2018 15:18

Purple sprouting broccoli?

ErrolTheDragon · 10/11/2018 17:00

Um... something that would actually be nice on a pizza (Cauliflower?ConfusedGrin) - red onions is a good call.

BettyDuMonde · 13/11/2018 17:12

Could I please have a little hand hold? Not sure gin is a good idea (might make me bawl my eyes out).
