After a walk or bike ride I'm partial to a nice cold shandy In a pub garden.
It helps to sharpen my thinking. Normally it's a bit soft and pointless

Wrathofjurgenklop · 04/08/2018 13:03

Goats are noisy aren't they?.
I have been watching too many YouTube goat clips

R0wantrees · 04/08/2018 13:38

Fan of cold shandy here too... only when hot and thirsty though!

LighthouseSouth · 04/08/2018 22:11

is it okay to be drunk and in charge of goats? Confused

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 04/08/2018 23:02

I've met goats. I don't think anyone is in charge of goats. Tricky buggers.

Can we have a menagerie in the beer garden or is it just goats?

LighthouseSouth · 04/08/2018 23:23

well, no but we have to look after them properly...even if they can amuse themselves listening to our chats Grin

"drunk and in charge of goats" is probably a crime that's never been removed from the statute books.

FloralBunting · 04/08/2018 23:42

I once had a friend tell me while drunk that goat's cheese tastes too 'goaty'. Which led to a long, silly conversation about the last time she had licked a goat to be able to tell what it tasted like.

LighthouseSouth · 04/08/2018 23:44

yes, and licking a goat is definitely Wrong Behaviour!

Waddlelikeapenguin · 05/08/2018 00:58

Floral i've looked after goats & they are awesome but I dont eat goats cheese because it tastes just like stinky goat smells Grin
Never licked one I promise!
Can we have a pub cat too? Our favourite museum has a cat Smile

LighthouseSouth · 05/08/2018 21:55

can we please name the goats Rosencrantz and Guildenstern?

ErrolTheDragon · 05/08/2018 22:20

As I can't hear that without continuing 'are dead', I'm not sure I'd want it for our lovely goats. Anyway, surely we have nannies not billies?

LighthouseSouth · 05/08/2018 22:22

one was a woman in the last production I saw....

okay, what about Millicent and Emmeline?

Wrathofjurgenklop · 05/08/2018 22:30

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.
Ahhh, that brings back memories of the play I went to see at the London Barbican, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead.
It was long. Very long. Two intervals, it went on forever.
I was probably too immature 35.
The highlight was when a fellow student offered her Polo mints to the rest of us. One polo escaped and did a long slow roll across the floor in front of us. Much stifled hilarity ensuedGrin.
A line of about eight grown women were silently bobbing up and down trying to contain themselves!
Don't you just love it when a group of women have the fit of the giggles?

Wrathofjurgenklop · 05/08/2018 22:43

Back to goats.
If I had to be self sufficient, I'd rather keep a goat in the garden than a cow.

FloralBunting · 06/08/2018 00:46

Did anyone see the Imagine programme with Jeanette Winterson this evening? I noted from the date that it's been on on before, but I didn't see it then.
She's one of my heroes - I remember watching Oranges when I was a young teen and feeling like I'd found my own language. A girl loving other girls. The religious setting which I found compelling and horrific all at the same time. It was a real watershed for me.

It was so lovely to watch the scene at the end of the documentary and see that she had really found a sense of peace and seemed to have come to terms with her relationship with Mrs Winterson.

A magnificent woman. I'd love to meet her.

LighthouseSouth · 07/08/2018 18:46

Floral, thanks, I didn't know about this, I'll look it up.

It was a colleague who alerted me to the whole "why be happy when you could be normal" thing - which resonates with me, given what my parents are like!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 07/08/2018 20:36

Hasn't Winterson bought the Pomo genderist crap?

LighthouseSouth · 07/08/2018 21:14

sorry, what is Pomo please?

FloralBunting · 07/08/2018 21:48

YetAnotherSpartacus, I have no idea. I'd be sad if so, but it takes nothing away from the influence she had on me.

FloralBunting · 07/08/2018 21:50

LighthouseSouth it's a short version of 'postmodernist' - the whole 'everyone has their own truth, there are no absolutes etc'.

LighthouseSouth · 07/08/2018 21:59

ah, thanks.

BettyDuMonde · 08/08/2018 13:51

I love goats.

And donkeys.

LighthouseSouth · 08/08/2018 16:19

pleeeeease can we name the goats Millicent and Emmeline?

I can't bond with them till we name them.

Betty, how many donkeys and what would you like to call them?

ErrolTheDragon · 08/08/2018 23:11

Those sound like excellent names for the goats. (Though unlike suffragettes, goats never need force feeding.)

Am I right in thinking equines don't like being alone so we'd need at least 2 donkeys too? Perhaps not actually in the pub garden (could become a bit of a minefield underfoot) but in an adjacent paddock, the one with the pub apple tree overhanging the fence. Does that sound about right.

LighthouseSouth · 08/08/2018 23:13

thanks Errol, I'm going to take that as motion carried!! Grin
