Is this really a feminist board?

I am a crap feminist. I haven't read a single book on the subject. Not De Beauvoir, not Greer, not Butler. The reasons for that are to do with a disability that I'd rather not go into, but I am a woman with a brain, and the Republic of Ireland is having a referendum on repealing the 8th this week. There it is, look, thirty threads down. And this "Feminism and Women's Rights" board's primary concern seems to be "What it will really take the peak trans the world?"

So I'm asking you, because I genuinely, honestly, cross my heart and hope to die, believe you are all better read and/or have more experience and/or more knowledge of being a woman than I do.

Doesn't that bother you? Doesn't it bother you that, four days away from the repeal vote, there's one thread on that in the bottom third of a fifty-thread page, and two or three dozen trans-related threads covering everything from Amnesty International to Jordan Peterson to exactly what Munroe Bergdorf told Venice Allan? Does it give you any pause for thought?

It isn't threatening to suggest that they have fronted out bigger hairier people than me, and then tell me how much they weigh?

If not a threat, I'm genuinely interested in what that would be. Why would I need to know this information if not than to back down otherwise I might get fronted out by an angry 9.5 stone man.

Its a long winded shit way of saying that they aren't afraid of you...that you are not the first mean person that they have met

And yeah ...it would be easier to say that but having seen mads other posts I don't think they do 'easy'

I don't think Mad had a problem with the words that Mad used in the threat towards me, for telling them to stop finding insulting names for women.

Maybe that's why I sometimes let my credulity be stretched? Actually, more likely because I've personally not been on the receiving end of misogynistic threats or worse - which means I should heed to the more highly honed instincts of those who have.

In my extensive experience, when dealing with (someone behaving like) a stereotypical bloke in a stereotypical bloke situation, the best hope is to act like an un-sterotypical bloke and not blink.

It's not a great plan, I admit. But it drives them batshit, no?

Why would they be afraid of someone telling them to leave women alone and stop calling them 'stagnant'?

Actually, more likely because I've personally not been on the receiving end of misogynistic threats or worse - which means I should heed to the more highly honed instincts of those who have.

You are lucky - I worked in construction for many years and have heard every insult and threat that a pretty young blonde construction tool-wielding woman is every likely to hear.

Maria MacLachlan was guilty of nothing. She was the victim.
McLachlan was not on trial, so she could not have been found guilty. But she admitted kicking Wolf's girlfriend. And the judge described that as an assault.

Tara Wolf was convicted, and fined for assault. And now has a criminal record.
True. But hardly cause for gloating or celebration. Wouldn't it have been better for all concerned if this incident had never happened?

Or was it planned as a propaganda stunt: "Let's wind up some young hotheads until one of them snaps — making sure we've got it on video, ready to splash across every medium we can get it into"?

And do you realise that the normal thing to do would have been to immediately reassure that it wasn't meant as a threat and to apologise. You didn't do that therefore it was a threat. You followed your instincts and some of us followed ours. There's the difference between us.

Are you implying that a. The fault lies with the person who was assaulted, not with the person who was convicted in a court of law for assaulting them and b. That being verbally ‘wound up’ is any kind of justification for physical assault?
