Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Is this really a feminist board?

I am a crap feminist. I haven't read a single book on the subject. Not De Beauvoir, not Greer, not Butler. The reasons for that are to do with a disability that I'd rather not go into, but I am a woman with a brain, and the Republic of Ireland is having a referendum on repealing the 8th this week. There it is, look, thirty threads down. And this "Feminism and Women's Rights" board's primary concern seems to be "What it will really take the peak trans the world?"

So I'm asking you, because I genuinely, honestly, cross my heart and hope to die, believe you are all better read and/or have more experience and/or more knowledge of being a woman than I do.

Doesn't that bother you? Doesn't it bother you that, four days away from the repeal vote, there's one thread on that in the bottom third of a fifty-thread page, and two or three dozen trans-related threads covering everything from Amnesty International to Jordan Peterson to exactly what Munroe Bergdorf told Venice Allan? Does it give you any pause for thought?

That's the thing with words: you know what you mean when you type them, but I think you're deranged when i read them.

You think I am deranged when you are trying to make up new and dismissive terms for women who believe in biology whilst positioning yourself as the non-stagnant one? Right.

Women. We are called women. End of.

MadBadDaddy · 23/05/2018 16:25

"you are trying to make up new and dismissive terms for women"

um...no...I was offering an alternative that might be less contentious than the current Labels-de-jour. I hate labels as much as the next girl, but they do have their uses.

I offer a creative thought, and the reward is you kick the bollocks out of any chance of a conversation?

MadBadDaddy · 23/05/2018 16:40

Do you just do crowd control, or do you check for Casual Footwear as well? We are both in the spotlight, currently, but only you might care about that. I am on a public website that occasionally feels like a Youtube page but without the funny video at the top. Some people try to start sensible conversations there, as well, the fools. MN isn't a one-trick pony, and the good bits are worth sticking around for.

Please continue to impress the hell out of everyone else you are speaking for. Am I really the only one here that doesn't know when to shut up and look at the fucking floor and wait for you to lose interest?

Sarahconnor1 · 23/05/2018 16:53

I don't identify with gender at all.
So Women. Just women, that's fine for me. I don't need, want, nor identify with another label for my sex.

What are you on about? Just stop trying to find even more insulting names for women. Job done.

(ps I weigh 9.5 stone since forever)

TERFragetteCity · 23/05/2018 17:09

I've fronted out bigger, hairier, angrier, less virtual people than you, if you'll pardon the possibly false assumption. I might be nothing new to you, but we've met a few times.

This sounds quite threatening. Why are you threatening women on the internet?

rosylea · 23/05/2018 17:22

Damn and Mad, what do you want with women on this board? Why are you here? I asked you this morning Damn but don't think you answered?

TERFragetteCity · 23/05/2018 17:23

To threaten and insult them it would seem. I would hate to say that this is typical male behaviour but that would be churlish, no?

There must be more to life for them than this, surely?

It is quite sad to go through the whole gender realignment process and the climax being - threatening women on a feminist board on a female forum. Incredible.

The problem with reporting is that the comment is removed which leaves no evidence of hate speech/ threatening/etc.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/05/2018 17:47

I'll give mad the benefit of the doubt and take crapness with words as a plausible explanation. But, if you know that about yourself, thinking more and posting less is liable to lead to fewer pissed off people. If you don't want people to be annoyed with you then FGS quit being annoying!

I got my arse handed to me the first time I posted in FWR.... I realised the problem was me, not them.

TERFragetteCity · 23/05/2018 17:50

I don't think Mad had a problem with the words that Mad used in the threat towards me, for telling them to stop finding insulting names for women.

rosylea · 23/05/2018 17:50

Yes spontaneous even just words on a screen and our instincts are warning us.

LangCleg · 23/05/2018 17:51

If someone identifying as a man came on here and behaved like this, they would be banned just like the midnight misogynist is banned. Sad, but true.

spontaneousgiventime · 23/05/2018 17:51

rosylea A woman should never ignore her instincts, we have them for a reason.

thebewilderness · 23/05/2018 17:54

I want to add 'women have all the rights they need: the right to remain silent'.

@ErrolTheDragon
You are a brilliant and clever dragon and so I have added your rule at #14 unedited because it is perfect in every way.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 23/05/2018 17:56

I didn't read mads post as a threat

Im happy to say im wrong if i am

But i dont think they meant it as a threat

And re arse handing....dont ever say you don't want a female dr who on here, just don't Grin

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 23/05/2018 17:56

I panicked then

I thought i typed arse handling
