Follow on thread regarding the data breach situation:
___

Dear MNHQ

I'm very grateful for the commitment to free speech you've publicly taken, and for Justine's courage this week.

A former disgruntled employee of MN is writing on Twitter about the 'transphobia' of MN staff, and calling you TERFs. She is showing a great deal of bias and intolerance towards women with feminist views, this may well be her honest opinion, which is no big deal I suppose, since she is no longer an employee.

At least, it isn't an issue until she calls a shout out to her
'friends who still work at MN' to report and take down posts by 'transphobic scum', by which she appears to be referring to any poster objecting to being called TERF by her friend.

Regardless of the personal views of the MNHQ staff, who should be as free to hold their own views as I am mine, I am disturbed that there may be a small contingent of employees who are invested in unfair moderation and will not be applying fair-handed principles, at least if the claims of this ex-employee are credible.

Can you please give posters some reassurance that the difficult job of fair-handed moderation isn't being abused by the 'friends' of ex-employees who are 'reporting it all' and taking down posts because any gender criticism means the poster is 'transphobic scum'?

Thank you.

Why is this insider info?

The insider info were her posts about what it was like working with MNHQ and how they didn't care about transphobia etc.

How ignorant and patronising of her to talk about MN's mental health. She seems bonkers quite frankly

I did look at her blog when it was first linked and she had made a few references to her own mental health issues.

ObiJuanKenobi · 20/04/2018 10:17

For someone taking a break from social media she seems pretty active on instagram still

"Might have been a really shit few days, but it's sunny and my new cookbook is here 👩‍🍳"

Oh yeah she's full of remorse

I wonder which way it will go -

Transactivist commits crime: will be let off with a slap on the wrist if she’s prosecuted at all,

Or

Woman commits crime: will face prison where man committing same crime would not.

Which version of misogyny will prevail here?

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/04/2018 10:31

I think EH spent very little, if any, time reading the boards. If she had, there are far more ... robust posts she could have chosen to share.

More likely that she was immersed in her SJW bubble and one of her 'friends' in MN gave her a nudge and said "look at this, I can't believe what this TERF is saying about Section 28!" and she has gone "OMG, that is, like, literal violence!!! Without even properly reading what the poster was saying, in the context of the thread.

She took a couple of screenshots at the time and, weeks later when gender-critical MN was getting quite a bit of positive media attention, probably while pssed (the tweets were made at around 3am) she decided to reveal this evidence of MN being a nest of TERFy viperz.

She would be hailed as a brave lefty dudebro TRA ally who had entered the belly of the beast to reveal The Awful Truth. A glittering career as a top of the tree investigative journalist beckoned...

Unfortunately for her, Emma Healey is no Veronica Guerin.

She is too stupid and too solipsistic to have extracted any data that could 'out' MNers, I feel sure.

apols for typos too numerous to list Blush

ipad has been exceedingly temperamental of late, back button not working and whole thing freezing but, curiously, ONLY ON MUMSNET!!!

SpringCream · 20/04/2018 10:39

she had made a few references to her own mental health issues.

I am not surprised. I feel sorry for her parents and family, they must be incredibly worried and /or annoyed with Emma's (self-)destructive behaviour, which has unfortunately played out in the public eye for everyone to see.

I understand that she wishes to work as a campaigner and fight for a cause. Unfortunately many young people who walk the path of self-righteous battle for a 'good' cause are often extremely gullible and have demons of their own, which are projected onto the outside world, so these young people fight the outside world instead.

I would guess that many young terrorist recruits (including 'home grown' teenage ISIS 'fighters' and ISIS 'brides') are people who have mental health issues or feel otherwise disenfranchised and who feel empowered by joining a cause that is presented in simplistic black and white terms with 'goodies and baddies'. It's all a by-product of capitalist society and lateral violence suggesting a painful sense of powerlessness in those who fight against their peers.

So sad.

She'd be a good one for Corbyn's Momentum team, all passion without critical skills or self reflection.

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/04/2018 10:41

Am sure I've read on one of these threads that she is a Momentum ally, Spring

flowersonthepiano · 20/04/2018 10:48

Actually I quite like the look of that book

SpringCream · 20/04/2018 10:50

Oh my....... A cookbook. How ahem middle class? Pippa Middleton, move aside, there is a new kid on the block.

Emma is defiantly not sorry. In fact she is quite the little capitalist, promoting her product on the back of a mini media furore. As they say there is no such thing as bad publicity. So, so ironic and quite possibly a champaign socialists in the making, if not already by background. She really is such a cliché.

SpringCream · 20/04/2018 10:50

*definitely

SpringCream · 20/04/2018 10:54

I see. She actually just ordered the book from Amazon with her capitalist credit card for just one second I almost had a spot of admiration for the fact that she had written and published a cook book Grin. It's vegan, yeah?

She seems incredibly self obsessed.

KeneftYakimoski · 20/04/2018 10:55

I think defiantly was la mot juste.

Oh good grief, springcream. She's bought a bloody cookbook, not written one.

multivac · 20/04/2018 10:56

This ad hominem nonsense is doing no one any favours. Least of all, y'know, women.

Juells · 20/04/2018 10:57

Me too 😂

FredNerk · 20/04/2018 10:57

I don’t know how it’s done to quote from closed threads on MN - so cutting and pasting AskBasil’s comment in respnse to a troll:

Best thread demonstrating mass hysteria since the one about yer man who forgot to bring the custard."

Women are always told they're hysterical when they fear male violence.

Then men kill them and everyone says "oh that came out of the blue".

Transactivists regularly post "Kill all TERFS" "Remember to punch a TERF" etc. They spent the day before a meeting to discuss the GRA trying to find out where the meeting was so that they could disrupt it. They found out that women were meeting in Hyde Park so they went there and one of them physically assaulted a woman. They chant "when TERFs attack, we fight back". "Attack" in this context, means disobeying a male person's demand that you validate his worldview. Abusive men always see disobedient women as attacking them, just not agreeing with them is perceived as an attack, needing heavy self-defence in the shape of their fists at a minimum.

But hey, silly women getting hysterical about violent men having their personal data.

Or when the response isn’t “that came out of the blue,” it’s that stupid women should know better, should take precautions, shouldn’t trust men. It is always women’s fault when men attack us. It is always our fault when they kill us.

SpringCream · 20/04/2018 10:58

Got it multivac Blush Wink

Ponders when the Fail is going to pick this story up.

womanhuman · 20/04/2018 11:09

Fail headline:
‘Activist doesn’t write cook book. Or novel. Is not related to Mumsnet.’ Grin

Pratchet · 20/04/2018 11:15

They're waiting for an estate agent to get back to them about the value of Justine's house before they go to print.
