I recall reading somewhere that the word on the street was that Olding's family had virtually disowned him as soon as charges were brought against him, whereas Jackson continued to have the support of his family - that may account for their differing strategies

Oh for crying out loud! I’m Catholic. You’re an absolute liar if you say you’ve never known Catholic men (not boys) to behave as these men have behaved.

AlecTrevelyan006 I understand his family attended the case, they just avoided the media circus and arrived separately.

treaclesoda · 15/04/2018 21:24

His brother accompanied him in and out of court a lot of the time, but his parents kept a low profile.

peanut2017 · 15/04/2018 21:42

Did anyone see the article in the Sunday Times Magazine outlining 4 or 5 cases were men were wrongly accused of rape and inferring that the Police and CPS have unconscious bias?

Some of which comes from there being women in senior positions and that they are also trying to up the statistics.

One of the accused says it's part of toxic feminism. Not a great time to read this. He is also campaigning to have the accuser named publicly if the accused was proven not guilty.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 15/04/2018 21:45

I think men in general are just becoming like animals...only not as cute or lovable!! What on earth is happening to men??
I look at my two beautiful, wonderful daughters and fear for them. Because of worthless men!!

Is it porn?? Just thinking aloud here: but men seem to be devolving. I wonder what is happening to them.🤔

Peanut-haven't seen that article but frustrating that this situation is repeatedly focussed on. Were they UK cases? How recently & what proof that the men were wrongly accused?

treaclesoda · 15/04/2018 21:50

My son is not a worthless animal either. Nor is my husband.

There is a big problem with how many men treat women, and misogyny within society. But I honestly don't think that labelling men as animals is helpful, or even fair.

This thread has become so derailed I’m not sure it should be left to stand anymore. People seem to be going out of their way to offend now.

What a brain dead post.

peanut2017 · 15/04/2018 21:54

Please can we not keep getting into arguments on here. It's not helping

@LastGirlOnTheLeft yes I do think porn has something to do with some men's expectation of what women should do for them. If you look at the likes of PornHub and all their google ads / content are about incest, threesomes, rape etc

I listened to an audible feature called The Butterfly Effect and went into detail on its business model. It's really sickening

NotTakenUsername · 15/04/2018 21:55

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo I actually thought some posts were so outrageous they might be MRAs trying to derail such a powerful conversation.

Am I allowed to say that if I don’t specifically mention a post/poster?

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 15/04/2018 21:56

You could well be right not and I think you’re definitely within talk guidelines with that post.

Ffs!!! I SAID men were becoming like animals and THEN I said that I was worried for my daughters because of worthless men...not that ALL men were worthless!! Just that I was worried about the ones she would meet that were worthless!!

Go back to school!!!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 15/04/2018 21:57
