LeapingLlama

I know, us highlighting Shon’s hateful agenda really shows how shocking it all is, right?

Not coming back to debate LeapingLlama? Shon

I've RTT so I assume you're referring to the vile hate towards women spewed by SF. It is indeed vile.

It is such a pity that there are so many mainstream vile TRAs spouting out hate towards women. Yet claim to be women. It makes no sense^^ Confused

Terftastic · 29/03/2018 00:39

I just looked up "Shon Faye Comedy" on Youtube. I must say, the top hits were about as far from comedy as I've ever seen.

If insular poetry and droning political diatribe count as comedy now, then I'm going be watching a lot of Blackadder on Netflix.

leyat · 29/03/2018 00:43

Shon hates that we have a space that's ours, he hates that unlike Facebook and Twitter, Mumsnet is a misogyny free space where women can speak freely, rather than be suspended for anything we say that might upset men like him. This is why Mumsnet is such a valuable space for women and continues to be, men don't get to control us here, and many of them hate that...

I'm not saying I agree with what that Shon says or does, nor I do not know what it must feel like to be trans. I just know I'd like to be accepted for being myself without unkind words.
I joined Mumsnet a while back, because of how supportive the majority of people on here are.
I don't know what Shon is going through, but I'm sure there are thousands of people feeling the same. Some of the comments are really harsh to trans people in general and that could be so damaging to people who need someone at a time where they may feel they have nobody. From both sides: hate only fuels hate.

Couldn't agree more. Women should stand up for eachother.

Women need to stand up for women. Shon Faye says to women "enjoy your erasure".

That is not standing up for women in my book.

Battleax · 29/03/2018 00:54

MN doesn’t allow you to live in a little bubble like Twitter does, where you can block anyone who doesn’t agree with you and just amplify your own self love, like a randy budgie pecking a mirror.

😄

“Randy Budgy” would make a great username.

LeapingLlama · 29/03/2018 00:57

Terftastic - "Women need to stand up for women. Shon Faye says to women "enjoy your erasure".

It isn't. I hope with time that her opinions change and the Tweets could become more positive and educational, instead of creating animosity to help people like myself understand more.

NoqontroI · 29/03/2018 00:58

From both sides: hate only fuels hate.

Should we just say 'never mind' then whilst there is an attempt to take over our spaces, along with the vile Twitter comments about how terfs should die, along with the graphic comments about what some trans women would like to really do to women? Is that ever ok? I have never seen that level of rage, hatefulness and threatened violence directed back from women to the trans community. The crime? That women simply want to debate issues that are going to potentially impact on us? Do we deserve the level of vitriol that we get for simply wanting to talk? I don't think so.

Don't hold your breath, LeapingLlama - misogynistic displays like that don't just go away.

How about the "I go into schools and educate young people - be slutty and get tits early" - are you with that? Or perhaps you think Shon will grow out of it. I mean Shon is only 30 - surely Shon will grow out of that soon, right?

thebewilderness · 29/03/2018 01:02

LeapingLama the 2nd rule of misogyny states that women saying no to men is a hate crime.
When we try to talk about male violence or women's rights we are told we are being hateful and that we hate men. This has been going on for generations. Men instructing women that if we just submit nicely to male dominance they will be nice in return. Somehow women never seem to be able to reach the level of nice necessary to have our human rights respected by men.
If we express anger over male violence we are called hateful. If we say no to me we are called hateful. It is exhausting. Trangender advocates are assaulting women in the street for disagreeing with them and here you are telling us that we are too harsh in what we say.
The unrealistic expectations put on women to be superhumanly kind courteous and polite in response to unrelenting abuse is mind boggling.

NoqontroI - Those Twitter comments are horrible, of course we should be standing up and voicing our opinions.
I don't know how anyone who is a woman would wish violence against other women. Or anyone in general!

It seems that there has been so much hate in the past that it has tainted how some individuals feel and in turn they're voicing their aggression. It's so sad to see so much anger and I hope things will change.

DarthArts · 29/03/2018 01:09

@LeapingLlama

What is it you don't understand?

You say you want to "understand more" and obviously feel strongly enough about the issue to post so please feel free to elucidate your concerns/confusion/questions.

DarthArts - Really, I'd like to know from understand the reasoning behind the hate filled Tweets that have understandable upset a lot of people.

LeapingLlama · 29/03/2018 01:13

*understandably. sorry!

JenniferJames · 29/03/2018 01:15

'It's so sad to see so much anger'

Oh please. On the day four Belfast rapists were acquitted? When the survivors of rape by John Worboys have to CROWDFUND their own justice? When women's safety, rights, dignity and representation are under threat?

STAY ANGRY PEOPLE

Terftastic · 29/03/2018 01:16

Leaping - The reason behind the hate filled tweets, is they don't like women talking.

Are you OK with women talking?
