I'm blocked by Shon so can't read her tweets, but someone posted this screenshot

MN doesn’t allow you to live in a little bubble like Twitter does, where you can block anyone who doesn’t agree with you and just amplify your own self love, like a randy budgie pecking a mirror.

Best description of the #transgirls tag I've ever seen.

I really do not like Shon Faye. I look and I see a horrid entitled little bourgeois shit who wouldn't know the first thing about oppression. I saw someone somewhere call Shon Flashman in lipstick and it made me laugh out loud (cos am mean like that). It's so apt.

DarthArts · 28/03/2018 22:49

Lang I read that as Flasheart and it reminded me of the BlackAdder "Bob" episode:-)

NotTerfNorCis · 28/03/2018 22:49

Question about the video he's pinned to his Twitter feed. I don't have the strength to watch more than the first minute, but, is he having a go at 'straight' people? Is he not straight by his own definition, if he's a transwoman who likes men? Hmm?

AreYou “give a little respect” is my ear worm, but yours is better!

Ooh who doesn't love a bit of Erasure!

AngryAttackKittens · 28/03/2018 22:54

Or foot, even. Somehow I just don't picture Shon as a candidate for Masterchef.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/03/2018 22:56

So... I guess we may expect another TRA invasion - well, if they can debate civilly within talk guidelines, fine. But hopefully, yet more silenced GC women and transpeople who don't go along with self ID etc will find their way to the place where they won't be blocked or told to DIAF.

Haha. My dad is a big fan of the George MacDonald Fraser Flashman novels and has nagged me into reading them all. There is one where Flashman is to blame for the Charge of the Light Brigade. He's hungover and does a huge fart which frightens his horse, his horse bolts and hey presto - famous British military blunder.

Ever since I read that description of Shon, that is what I think of. Posh fool, unencumbered by sense or conscience, causing havoc everywhere.

Terftastic · 28/03/2018 23:03

Lord Flashheart! Oh Rik, I love you. (RIP)

But, but, 2:15 in....

It's like the trans wedding in the Sun this week, thinking they're so modern and woke - don't these youngsters know this has all been done already in the 80's? Confused

DarthArts · 28/03/2018 23:04

I doubt we'll see an invasion.

Maybe a few seagulls (fly over, shit and leave), but don't have the stamina for logical discourse.

That's why they like Twitter so much. Create a cosy bubble and enjoy the affirmation it provides.

If I'm wrong then tbh I still don't see the downside. Generally their arguments are good for enlightening people who haven't engaged in the debate as to why women are speaking up about it.

Equally as Datun said it encourages people over here. Not just the allies they expect, but people who are on the fence, curious or haven't considered MN as a place for debate.

Win, win really.

Terftastic · 28/03/2018 23:04

^ I suppose Blackadder is 'transphobic' now

AngryAttackKittens · 28/03/2018 23:05

Who doesn't love Erasure? Well, arguably, perhaps someone who was so ashamed of being a gay man that they decided that pretending to be a woman would be easier.

mirialis · 28/03/2018 23:09

If we're doing Blackadder, then surely we should have this: "a boy without a winkle!"

DarthArts · 28/03/2018 23:11

I suppose if SF wasn't banned we could ask if they thought BlackAdder was transphobic....

On that I think SF posted on here recently?

A fairly innocuous thread was started?

Was then taken down as SF was a PFB?

Went on twitter to complain about being banned from MN for something so obviously non controversial, failing to mention the reason was being a PFB for posts that SF failed to screenshot. The implication being the ban was transphobic?

Or am I confusing SF with someone else?

DarthArts · 28/03/2018 23:13

@mirialis

GrinGrinGrinGrin

Goodness I bloody love Black Adder.

AngryAttackKittens · 28/03/2018 23:15

Maybe I should say something positive about Shon just to make things easier for the "but the wimminz are so evil and hateful!" people at MNHQ who're no doubt dealing with an onslaught of tantrums.

Shon, you have very nice hair. Which is not specifically a female trait, btw, and it's OK (a positive even imo) for men to have long hair, but still - good job you, excellent nutrition and/or use of hair products.

NoqontroI · 28/03/2018 23:15

Enjoy Your Erasure

Lol. Whilst he arrives in his dress and girl penis to try and be us. Won't ever happen. Biology is the truth.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 28/03/2018 23:17

Kittens....Shon wears extensions!!!

Kneedeepinunicorns · 28/03/2018 23:17

Many MRAs don't like MN - women talking together by itself is threatening, but here they're actually sharing information like how to escape someone who is battering them, encouraging women to believe they don't have to stay in a hopeless, unhappy relationship or accept bad treatment, that the threats to take the children away from them are groundless and that there's a standard script for abusers and here's how to get legal advice... stuff like that really gets MRAs down. And now they're actually talking about women's rights and needs, and wanting to share that information and organise enough to get their voices actually allowed in the debate. Women being allowed to be heard when they're not on message? Oh the horror.

So MNHQ have had a whole lot of practice in spotting and moderating MRAs with groundless complaints. They do it with style. (Helen does it with gusts of lavender I noticed the other day. Now that's classy.)
