Update on interactions with the Green Party on self-id

Update on my interactions with the Green Party for anyone who is interested.
Letter to Baroness Jenny Jones – reply from her office saying that she shared my concerns.
Letter to GP head office. I will share it here so that you can fully understand the response – then I’ll have to name change… This is after a bit of back-and-forth where they were trying to palm me off. My letter -

‘This is not a minor policy disagreement. This is fundamental. Please could I have an answer to my questions?

^1. I was abused by my male doctor. He has since been struck off. Are you really saying that I should not have a choice re the biological sex of my health care professional?
2. I was threatened by a group of transsexuals in a women’s toilet. One of them went on to commit murder. I would feel scared to be threatened by anyone, but these men had a huge advantage of me physically. Are you really saying that I should welcome physical males into female-only spaces
3. Why is the Green Party going against the Equality Act 2010 part 7?
4. Why is the Green Party seeking to silence debate on this subject?
5. Why is the Green Party silent on the threats to women who want to discuss this? (Link to terfisaslur website)

I thought that the Green Party was the party of science. Why is it ignoring basic biological fact?
You are not on the side of history. This will come back to bite you.
The Emperor has no clothes.’^

The response I got back was:

^‘As stated in our initial response, the Green Party respects all our members, and works hard to ensure we promote equality and fairness.

Please address your legal or medical questions with the relevant authorities.’^

Yesterday – a new development. A Green Party councillor was canvassing in my street. I got chatting to her and she seemed to understand my concerns. She took my email address and told me that she had linked to the petition on her Facebook page. She invited me on the page for a chat. I spent a good couple of hours there, so I won’t repeat it all but here are some of the gems:
In response to my comment about Mumsnet - 'I'm speechless. Mumsnet (possibly 100% heterosexual women with children) is not the place to educate yourself.

On the request for consultation with women –‘ It reminds me tragically of the kind of stuff right wing evangelicals come out with in the US.’
In response to my question about how self-id will play to religious communities – ‘Who cares?’
Despite many, many attempts to get them to define the word woman, no one responded.
About me personally –‘Appalling way to think. And if you're in the Green party then i'm utterly ashamed!’

There were several attempts to get the GP councillor to remove the petition -she still has not done so and seems to be sympathetic. Last night our area got a boost in signatures. – So some light.

Don’t blame you!

thebewilderness · 21/03/2018 22:17

What on earth is the 'feminine gender' ? Is there a checklist anywhere that I can tick off?
Far as I can tell it is a theatrical parody of the opposite sex put on by males.

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 21/03/2018 23:52

Its all gone mad.

Peter Hitchen's, old heavy weight belligerent and has TERF tattooed through him like a stick of rock, is on Question Time tomorrow night with PariSleaze. Should be great fun. It's a funny old world.

Update
No formal reply from Jenny Jones but her office did send me the brilliant article by KJ Harrison. Link here for anyone who hasn't seen it
www.counterfire.org/articles/opinion/19538-as-a-trans-woman-this-is-the-unity-i-want-to-see
JJ's office also said that they have signed the petition.
No reply from Caroline Lucas.
I have stopped interacting with the local party. They just weren't listening and were really nasty. Also they were editing their posts after I'd replied to them. Totally pointless.
Enjoying the responses to this article posted by the party.

Natalie Bennet just followed me on Twitter. I only have 250 followers, not exactly an influencer but quite vocal in my feed, maybe she's interested in seeing the radfem side of the debate?

Pratchet · 27/03/2018 10:36

Goodness me DJ. That's marvellous. Are you anonymous on twitter? If not, you could be jigsaw-identified from her recent follows.

Pratchet · 27/03/2018 10:37

She's following a whole bunch of radfems 🤔

2rebecca · 27/03/2018 11:02

I got followed by the LGBT dept of the SGP after I started posting radfem stuff and as I had been in the SGP for many years wondered if they were using it as ammunition in case I joined in the future so I blocked them and protected my tweets so I can spot if new people follow me as this slipped under my radar.
I don't see the SGP changing their pro-trans views. The whole international green movement is very pro-trans. I accepted it until it became obvious it was going to start affecting my life and when kids started being influenced and it became so intolerant of people voicing opposing opinions.

bunbunny · 27/03/2018 11:11

Op going forward it might be worth screenshotting all responses you get and any changes - so that if they change things to make you look bad you are able to post their original post to show how low they are stooping with their shenanigans.

I know you're not planning to engage with them again but if you're planning on interacting with anybody else going forward it would be a sensible precaution to protect yourself!

DJLippy · 27/03/2018 15:41

I don't post anything I would be ashamed of, I think you have to treat it like a public square. I am mindful to always be polite. tbh if the Labour party want to kick me out for my views then I don't want to be in the party. Feel like a suffragette or something! Also, followed by Bonnie Greer who follows a few radfems. She follows lot's of people so doesn't really mean anything. I dunno if privately people have concerns but too afraid to speak out? I hope so.....

MsMcWoodle · 28/03/2018 12:31

@DJLippy marvelous! I wonder if I am following you. Only just joined and getting used to it out there.
@bunbunny That would have been a sensible thing to do! I've now made around 65 posts to the page. No one is listening and I'm really trying not to get involved. Just end up making angry posts that don't do any good.

On that definition of woman you don't have to mention death - just ask them when I was put under for a D&C after losing my baby, did I cease to be a woman? Or when my friend had an emergency caesarean section and got put under? Or when my husband's colleague's wife was put into a coma because she had scepticaemia?

We couldn't have self-identified as anything under those circumstances so did we cease to be women? And what did we become in those hours or days?

CisPinkHoodie · 30/03/2018 17:39

Charlie

I agree

Just ask them about how you'd identify the sex of someone brought into A&E injured (in the abdomen for good measure) and unconscious

Italiangreyhound · 30/03/2018 23:44

Who cares about people of different religions, who cares about women etc etc, exactly what does the Green party stand for?

What a load of bollocks.

When are women going to rise up and start their own political party. I'd be happy for them to have trans politicians etc, of course, as long as they have a GRC and the party is not bringing in self Id!

ErrolTheDragon · 31/03/2018 10:23

Such a shame the WEP got it wrong on self-ID.Sad

Italiangreyhound · 31/03/2018 10:38

@ErrolTheDragon yes, i agree but also Personally I Don't want a women only just for women party. I want a party started by women but with inclusive values and fucking good policy that men actually want to join.

There is a new anti leaving EU party. Can't remember the name. I did email them but got no answer on self id.

If I started a party it would take the best from the rest. Anti poverty, anti self id, strong on law and punishment of crime, no soft touch, green policies and not leaving EU. (How can that be done? New referendum or maybe we leave and have another referendum to go back in under new protections or something - is that legal?)

See I am not a politician!

I'd be happy to see trans MPs and have real racial and ability/alternative ability party members and good mix females to males, strong leader.)

I think May has shown some chupspah over the Russian thing. If we poached may as leade rcould we get into power?

That's what I'd want and it wouldn't't be called 'women only' it'd be so fucking good the men would be joining in droves!

But then I'be only just woken up and may still be dreaming.

MsMcWoodle · 01/04/2018 12:58

Just to let you know that Aimee Challenor has confirmed that there are now 50,000 people on her terfblocker. Surprised she's got anyone left to talk to.

Does that .Dan she has identified 50 thousand people who do not agree with self Id?

Wow we are strong!

Juells · 01/04/2018 14:18

How proud she must feel Grin

OddBoots · 01/04/2018 16:40

It's nice of her to keep count for us.

gussyfinknottle · 01/04/2018 17:09

Ok, one more party I won't vote for having dumped Labour over Corbyn and being physically unable to vote Tory.

OddBoots · 01/04/2018 17:11

I think we are running out of political hope, I am hanging on by a thread watching to see what Renew have to say.

Pratchet · 02/04/2018 00:59

I think my hope is the Tories keeping it on the back burner, labour never getting into power, and the media highlighting problems to an increasing degree, until the civic encroachment of transgenderism slows, and people, teachers, social workers etc feel freer to challenge it.
