Millwall cannot host the March event :-(

Just had an email from Venice Allan saying Millwall have had to pull out of hosting the event 'Transgenderism and the War on Women' due to threats from TRAs.

This is Millwall. They must have some of the best security around. It is dreadful news. We are being silenced.

She said the meeting will still go ahead but at another venue. I feel so sad and so angry.

Maybe add in a link to Action for Trans Health in the meme WinkGrin

PositivelyPERF · 03/03/2018 13:58

Millwall: scared of the horrific violence of women talking Actually I think this is perfect. 🤣

Agerbilatemycardigan · 03/03/2018 13:59

I'm sharing that thought on Twitter to see of somebody can create one that we can all share. Maybe starting with West Ham Grin

TERFclick · 03/03/2018 14:07

Sunderland, Hull city, Brentford, Barnsley and Nottingham forest are next on first team fixtures.

TERFclick · 03/03/2018 14:08

@sunderlandafc

TERFclick · 03/03/2018 14:10

Tweet anyone from Sunderland who is tweeting today.

Agerbilatemycardigan · 03/03/2018 14:12

Have asked SandyDrawsBadly if she could come up with something we could use

TERFclick · 03/03/2018 14:13

They will be arriving for the match now, this needs quick action.

PositivelyPERF · 03/03/2018 14:15

I don’t normally do this, but what about a link to this thread, so they understand what’s going on?

Agerbilatemycardigan · 03/03/2018 14:16

We need to invent a relevant football chant

TERFclick · 03/03/2018 14:16

Yes and someone write a summary.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/03/2018 14:16

Is this not the same tactics that the TRAs use?

TERFclick · 03/03/2018 14:16

Millwall, scared a man in a dress will blow up their balls

PositivelyPERF · 03/03/2018 14:18

Is this not the same tactics that the TRAs use?

Any better suggestions are welcome. What would you suggest?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/03/2018 14:23

Millwall afraid of men in dresses - not OK
Millwall backing out of hosting a feminist talk - OK

If we resort to the same bullying tactics as TRAs we lose. We win because we have logic and reason and fact on our side - we don't need to resort to what will be called slurs.

MacaroonMama · 03/03/2018 14:25

DH who is both a fully on board TERF and a lifelong Millwall fan (but not a racist...) is v cross about this, but wants to emphasise that the team will have nothing to do with this - it will be the commercial side of it/premises manager who will have taken this decision. I expect most Millwall fans would be on our side actually!

I’m still waiting for your better suggestions.

MacaroonMama · 03/03/2018 14:28

How about we all tweet Steve Kavanagh, the Millwall chief exec? About freedom of speech, and protecting women's rights? I will try and find his Twitter handle (am not on myself)

That was not to you PositivelyPERV! Just a thought.

I agree. We have to keep our copybook completely unbotted. We cannot allow ourselves to sink to name calling and slurs. We must occupy the high ground here.

MacaroonMama · 03/03/2018 14:30

I think it is just @MillwallFC. I couldn't see a separate one for him.

AAAGH PositivelyPERF not PERV!!! So sorry. Am typing fast while trying not to lose my three kids in the library...

As I said. Don't disseminate what will be seen as slurs (eg men in dresses), disseminate logic reason and facts.

Frame this around freedom of speech,.protecting women's spaces etc etc. Don't frame it around men in dresses in women's toilets that doesn't work.

Tanith · 03/03/2018 14:37

This article was tweeted and appears on Millwall Football Club's facebook page:

www.pinknews.co.uk/2018/02/27/millwall-football-club-hosting-anti-trans-campaigner-who-says-raising-trans-kids-is-child-abuse/

MacaroonMama · 03/03/2018 14:44

That article biased and vile.

I think I may tweet about Millwall's support for women's football (Millwall Lionesses) and ask why they would not support the right to congregate and discuss changes which will allow e.g. Men playing in the women's team etc.
