Labour lose 3 points - ALL women leaving the party

"The 3-point fall in the Labour share [in You Gov poll] is entirely explained by a 6-point fall among women (from 46% to 40%)"

CON 43 (+1)
LAB 39 (-3)
LD 8 (+2)

@jenniferjames says "Oh fucking hell. I broke the Labour party. :-( "

I've got very mixed feelings. On the one hand - go everyone! They'll have to take notice - surely?

But - Jesus Christ let's not let the Tories have another term.

But - we have to stick up for ourselves don't we.

Starting to think the people who say the rapid rise in TRA ideology is being fuelled by those who stand to benefit from a divided left might have a point. Sad

I am heartened that a handful of staunch "I've voted Labour all my life" people are fuming as they become aware of the impact of Self ID. I've steered them over here for a read and Lurk. Never voting for them again while Corbyn is there was one comment.

The best bit? They're men.

LangCleg · 14/02/2018 23:01

The thing with Labour that everyone acknowledges is the large margin by which they are winning the social media war, despite spending that is way below the Tories. This may turn out to be a mixed blessing vis a vis the trans issue, because they have managed to turn so many supporters onto online politics. Those people will see the trans stuff before everyone else. They will be exposed to all the narcissistic rage before everyone else. And many Labour supporters, however staunch, are going to say... hang on a minute, WTF?

AskBasil · 14/02/2018 23:32

Thanks Italiangreyhound.

I just can't believe that this dystopian nonsense is mainstream BBC fodder. How quickly it has become orthodoxy. I wrote a blog post about it:

Watching the masses manipulated

thebewilderness · 14/02/2018 23:59

Hello AskBasil. I have been a reader of your blog of some time now, and I thank you for it.

Everyonematters · 15/02/2018 00:03

Most of the general public are unaware or have no view.

Right. Let's all tell three people this week.

miri1985 · 15/02/2018 00:25

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5391313/Labour-rebuked-equalities-commission-AGAIN.html

"Labour has been rebuked by the equalities commission again after banning heterosexual white men from a conference."
"The Equality and Human Rights Commission (ECHR) has warned the restrictions would flout the law unless there is a good reason for it.
And they have written to party bosses demanding an explanation for the ban on straight, white men attending."

"Their intervention comes after Tory MP Andrew Bridgen has written to the Equality and Human Rights Commission to ask them to investigate whether the entry rules added up to 'discrimination'."

Wonder if anyone has written about self ID for AWS

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 15/02/2018 00:28

If they banned straight white men but allowed straight white transmen, could they be accused of transphobia for saying there's a difference?

OlennasWimple · 15/02/2018 07:41

This Twitter thread by the wonderful Karen Ingala Smith is worth a quick read, on the issue of leaving the Labour Party over self-ID

Patodp · 15/02/2018 07:51

Love Carbon's reply there !

@SunsetBeetch "Fab tweet thread from a young gay woman"

That is so fab.

How much of this is out in the mainstream media??

Italiangreyhound · 15/02/2018 18:18

Is that it my imagination or does it feel slightly like things are starting to change?

Does anyone else feel slightly more empowered?

In an odd sort of way, knowing what other women are willing to risk to fight this feels empowering.

Is this being reported anywhere main stream on tv, how Labour is losing women because of self Id?

OvaHere · 15/02/2018 18:38

I do feel awareness is growing fast. FWR is evidence of that. Unfortunately I think one of the reasons for that is trans ideology is rapidly gaining ground also and self ID is having a backdoor implementation.

By the time enough people cotton on there may be an awful lot to claw back.

OldmanOfTheWeb · 15/02/2018 18:59

Labour scare me more than the Tories do these days. The Tories are just the same old fashioned brand of evil they've always been. Corbyn and Momentum are much more insidious and interested in social control. I'd rather be mugged than brainwashed.

It's going to be galling for some but if this bothers you (and it should) then I think voting Conservative is your best option. I don't believe they'll win. By the time a GE is called the Corbynista will be everywhere. You're basically deciding whether you Labour in power with a weak opposition or with a strong one.

LangCleg · 15/02/2018 19:22

Yes. Mission creep everywhere you look.

Italiangreyhound · 15/02/2018 20:20

@OvaHere I know this is dim but FWR?

OvaHere · 15/02/2018 20:27

Sorry, it was the previous acronym for the MN Feminist Boards.

I'm not sure Corbyn will win the next election. He's pissed off more than just feminists. I have a feeling that the last election was his peak, yes he did way better than expected but he still didn't win against a government that was responsible for bringing Brexit to the table in the first place at a point when half the country was extremely het up about it.

I've read in a few places that there is a growing movement for Rees Mogg as Tory Leader - is he viewed as some sort of Trump like figure?

Patodp · 15/02/2018 20:47

Rees mogg is one of those anti abortion, very conservative religious, bit racist types from what I gather.
Very polite about it all though.

Fishfingersandwichnocheese · 15/02/2018 20:48

I have no idea who I would vote for if there was an election tomorrow Sad.

I couldn’t bring myself to vote Tory but the self ID stuff is worrying and I don’t have the faith the Labour Party will deal with it yet I agree with them with so many other issues. Ditto the greens. Until recently anyway.

Fuck me I might have to vote Lib Dem and I swore I’d never do that.

There’s just not a party for me anymore.

doctorcuntybollocks · 15/02/2018 21:03

Rees-Mogg is Softy Walter's evil twin.

boatyardblues · 15/02/2018 21:04

He's probably like Pence. Looks sorta normal, but would implement a Handmaids Tale-style regime if he ever got the chance. I'm not fooled.

OvaHere · 15/02/2018 21:10

It would be just our luck then if we ended up having the prospect of him or Corbyn.

Never mind AWS we should be having a recruitment drive for lovely people into politics ( and yes I realise the two things are almost mutually exclusive) Grin

AskBasil · 15/02/2018 21:22

I'm not sure about Walter the Softy.

He is very right wing religious conservative.

But he is also apparantly, very good friends with Mhairi Black.

And I simply cannot imagine her being friends with him if he's a total arsehole.

So I reserve my judgement.
