Labour lose 3 points - ALL women leaving the party

"The 3-point fall in the Labour share [in You Gov poll] is entirely explained by a 6-point fall among women (from 46% to 40%)"

CON 43 (+1)
LAB 39 (-3)
LD 8 (+2)

@jenniferjames says "Oh fucking hell. I broke the Labour party. :-( "

I've got very mixed feelings. On the one hand - go everyone! They'll have to take notice - surely?

But - Jesus Christ let's not let the Tories have another term.

But - we have to stick up for ourselves don't we.

Starting to think the people who say the rapid rise in TRA ideology is being fuelled by those who stand to benefit from a divided left might have a point. Sad

You have a proper left Labour Party

And they didn’t win the election, they are utterly useless at holding a the Tories to account even when they themselves are struggling and doing fuck all about Brexit

makeourfuture · 13/02/2018 11:57

And they didn’t win the election, they are utterly useless at holding a the Tories to account even when they themselves are struggling and doing fuck all about Brexit

We are making progress towards our (yes our) goals.

I believe your prediction for the last GE was that Labour would be swept away....a rump.

gussyfinknottle · 13/02/2018 11:57

Birds, I love it!

Everyonematters · 13/02/2018 12:01

Horridemma, our votes do count. Every single one. Everyone I have spoken to outside the immediate Westminster bubble can immediately see the issues with what is actually being proposed. Keep talking to people. Make clear your vote depends on this matter. They work for us, remember.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 13/02/2018 12:03

I was surprised as many where

But what eight months down the line Tories public spats Brexit negotiations are farcical NHS in crises and the Tories are still ahead Hmm

And what goals are those to purge the party of anyone who disagrees with Corbyn/Momentum/McDonnell well you are doing a good job of that can’t see much else happening so little on Brexit but that would take real hard work not just a few tweets and talks at rallies

AngryAttackKittens · 13/02/2018 12:08

OK I'm temporarily breaking my ignore the sealion pledge to ask...

I believe your prediction for the last GE was that Labour would be swept away....a rump

Rump? Labour would as a result of the general election become someone's bum, and that bum would, what, be swept out to sea in a tsunami?

I'm so confused.

QueenLaBeefah · 13/02/2018 12:09

make Labour can't win the next election without women's votes and without female party activists doing the donkey work.

I refuse to vote for a party that seeks to erase women.

makeourfuture · 13/02/2018 12:13

Labour can't win the next election without women's votes

Absolutely. You can hand the Tories another decade if you choose.

Do you really want to do this? Considering Tory class genocide?

QueenLaBeefah · 13/02/2018 12:14

If the Tories state unequivocally that they will not erase women then I will vote for them.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 13/02/2018 12:17

But what is this Tory class genocide?

QueenLaBeefah · 13/02/2018 12:20

If labour want my vote they can work for it. If this is the cross that St Jeremy wants to die on then so be it.

makeourfuture · 13/02/2018 12:22

If this is the cross that St Jeremy wants to die on then so be it.

In all fairness aren't we all nailing ourselves to the cross now? Boris ain't worried.

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 13/02/2018 12:24

Make, what are you actually trying to achieve here?

You're talking to women who have a range of political views but who all agree that self-ID would be disastrous for us.

Who have seen their cause espoused by Janice Turner in the Times (who, please note, gave Maria Miller a thorough grilling over this issue) and James Kirkup in the Spectator, while the Guardian & the Independent have fallen over themselves to display misogyny.

Many of us have been getting progressively angrier over this issue since 2015 and before.

Having a go at us for rejecting "Corbyn uber alles" will not get you anywhere you want to be.

AngryAttackKittens · 13/02/2018 12:26

Pls explain how Labour were swept away...a rump. At least it would provide a break in the monotony.

cista · 13/02/2018 12:26

TBH, I get the impression that JC dosent care about trans or women's rights... he sounded quite bored when asked about it. Confused

QueenLaBeefah · 13/02/2018 12:27

I will not be guilt tripped into voting Labour whilst they think women have penises.

MistressDeeCee · 13/02/2018 12:43

I now can't vote Labour. No way will I vote Tory. Why isn't tactical voting an option? All women voting for 1 party due to this issue would make government sit up and take notice no matter what the election outcome. Which would be Tory anyway as I don't sense Corbyn actually wants to be PM. He's likely ok in pseudo-opposition on a good salary.

Tactical voting and the reasons for it would certainly be a talking point.

I don't think women's votes being swallowed up by the Tories is a good thing. I want women to be heard but sorry, I can't vote for a party that decimates working classes, disabled, NHS, off the back of that.

It'd feel as if I'm aligning with those who have 1 agenda only, fuck everybody else they don't matter..

lostmeagesago · 13/02/2018 12:45

Corbyn won't stand down while the Momentum faithful flatter his ego and tell him whatever he does/says is right by virtue of the sheer fact of him having done/said them. But he's not going to win any election either.

So we continue in the same stalemate. Momentum congratulating themselves on losing well, and no-one stopping to question how Labour can win well.

The answer is clearly getting rid of Corbyn. If Corbyn hadn't decided to support a load of anti-Semites, Labour would probably be in government now - Labour nearly took several seats in London with large Jewish populations. But the Jewish vote meant that Labour missed out on those seats.

The same will now happen with the female vote - except as women live in every single constituency, the effect will be less concentrated, but apparent in all marginal seats.

But I don't see Labour realising this or doing anything to oust JC who walks on water.

So the next election probably belongs, insanely, to the Tories. Who can fuck up from here to eternity, as they have no effective opposition. All things to Momentum clones like Make.

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 13/02/2018 12:45

Somebody on one of these threads said that all spoilt ballot papers have to be read out loud.

Now that would get a message across.

lostmeagesago · 13/02/2018 12:46

all thanks to

lostmeagesago · 13/02/2018 12:47

Mistress - which party?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/02/2018 12:50

You're talking to women who have a range of political views but who all agree that self-ID would be disastrous for us.

Ah, but he doesn't. He talks at women. The way his idol does.

OlennasWimple · 13/02/2018 12:59

Don't spoil your ballot - no one reads it - no one publishes what you write on it - no message is transmitted. They just count up the spoiled papers and that's it

This isn't true.

You can choose to publicise your spoilt ballot paper like these Tweeters did in 2012

Papers which have something other than the X in the box are shown to the candidates at the count, and it is agreed whether the voter intended to cast a vote for a particular candidate (eg by putting a tick rather than a cross) or if the paper was intentionally spoiled (eg by drawing a large penis across it, as with many of the examples in the link ^^ )

Spoiled papers are counted, and although often low in individual constituencies can be interesting overall. In 2015 there were about 100k spoiled papers, and in Northern Ireland there were 8 constituencies where there were more spoiled papers than votes for one of the candidates (can you imagine polling less than "none of the above" and penis drawings??)

This website has some more details on how to spoil ballot papers in a meaningful way

RedToothBrush · 13/02/2018 13:08

Drawing a box with the name NO ONE with a XX in it.

An organised campaign, is probably needed - because it also needs the publicity to go with it.

FlyTipper · 13/02/2018 13:44

Olennas I'll agree to disagree.

Spoiled papers are counted yes, indeed. That is all. Spoiled ballots aren't sorted any further.

(can you imagine polling less than "none of the above" and penis drawings??) but that's it isn't it. If you spoil, your vote is lumped in with the penis drawings. How's that advancing a voice?
