Labour lose 3 points - ALL women leaving the party

goodyzoe · 11/02/2018 01:42

"The 3-point fall in the Labour share [in You Gov poll] is entirely explained by a 6-point fall among women (from 46% to 40%)"

CON 43 (+1)
LAB 39 (-3)
LD 8 (+2)

@jenniferjames says "Oh fucking hell. I broke the Labour party. :-( "

I've got very mixed feelings. On the one hand - go everyone! They'll have to take notice - surely?

But - Jesus Christ let's not let the Tories have another term.

But - we have to stick up for ourselves don't we.

Starting to think the people who say the rapid rise in TRA ideology is being fuelled by those who stand to benefit from a divided left might have a point. Sad

OK. Who will be your chosen leader? Support her in a leadership bid.

Democracy.

CurriedNoodle · 13/02/2018 08:56

Jeremy corbyn was elected twice. Large margins

There are democratic processes

Change it!

Yeah that's what I was told right before I quit my CLP.

I am sick of being told it is down to me to fix it. Yet again women are told it's their own fault for not doing enough to stop the nasty men trampling over our rights.

I'm fucking sick of it. If there was a new suffragette movement started up over this I would join and give whatever time and money I could to ensure it's success.

Labour will benefit from no more of my free labour and time while they continue to shit on me, all the time telling me 'We'd treat you better if you just tried hard enough'.

AngryAttackKittens · 13/02/2018 08:58

Many disabled women will at some point need both medical treatment and care of an intimate nature. If self ID goes through, how can those women who absolutely do not want to receive intimate treatment/care from a male person ensure that they don't get forced into that situation? They can't, because "woman" will mean "anyone who says they're a woman".

This is a threat to all of us. The more layers of the onion you peel off the more problems you'll find underneath. Rights for any given group depend on being able to clearly define who is and is not part of the group. Lose that and it's the first domino that knocks all the others down.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 13/02/2018 09:01

Our party is us

Not if you are Jewish, female or don't think JC is some sort of god, it isn't.

makeourfuture · 13/02/2018 09:03

If a gender critical leader is elected I will support them completly.

We are looking at Tory class genocide.

Popchyk · 13/02/2018 09:18

It is utter patronising gaslighting bullshit to try to blame women for any of this.

Men trampling all over women's rights and whose fault is it?

Well, the fault of women of course.

Self-ID becomes policy in the Labour Party and whose fault is it? Individual female members because they didn't fight hard enough (despite having no input into the secret decision to approve it, and being bullied, harassed and suspended for even talking about it).

Fuck off with that.

endofthelinefinally · 13/02/2018 09:19

I think we should all send a link to this thread to our MP.
I have a daughter and I am so worried for her. But her generation are the momentum supporters. Not her, but many of her classmates think the current situation is a good thing. They are young and naiive. This is why I dont agree with lowering the voting age. I feel as if we are sleepwalking into a horrific travesty of a society.

FlyTipper · 13/02/2018 09:20

The last chapter in Nick Clegg's book about stopping Brexit gives a good outline about how to change party policy.

His summary:

  • visit mp once a month
  • attend local party meetings
  • attend party conference and table motions (my highlight)
  • write to JO
  • if nec, walk away

If you would fight like the suffragettes for the vote, you should fight for this too. It's not good enough to sit back and expect others to just 'get it'. Men and other women might be throwing us under the bus, but we need to stand up and say no.

makeourfuture · 13/02/2018 09:23

They are young and naiive

No. They will never own a home nor retire.

We have damned them.

borntobequiet · 13/02/2018 09:24

Long time left of centre but support electoral reform so have never voted Labour. Might have considered it if the party began to show sense about Brexit but now, no, never, never, never.
It might be a spoiled ballot for me.

makeourfuture · 13/02/2018 09:26

Of course the young are angry.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 13/02/2018 09:28

makeourfuture

Good try but people are seeing through the momentum rhetoric now. So your bot isn't working Wink

Horridemma · 13/02/2018 09:32

Momentum probably have a dossier on each of us in line with their Stasi adopted practices. Making.sure that we will be heading off to re-education camps sometime in the future

AngryAttackKittens · 13/02/2018 09:33

I will most likely never own a home either, unless I move to a very different place. Still not going to vote for my own legal erasure.

Make, if you think a gender critical Labour leader is the solution, fabulous idea - now go find one and campaign for her. Do your own damn homework. Don't ask other women to drop an issue that's as vital to them as this, and especially don't do it in a series of lazy, brief, sloganistic comments.

Concrete solutions. Go work on some. We're not your private army.

Everyonematters · 13/02/2018 09:36

*If a gender critical leader is elected I will support them completly.

We are looking at Tory class genocide.*

We are looking at a Labour Party whose current self-ID policy will completely erase a class. Who would be next? They are already self-IDing on race and disability at events.

dogendsaredogs · 13/02/2018 09:45

makeourfutureI have not damned anyone. The young are always angry-it what they do to make up for lack of character. I'm 69yo and I don't own my own home-boofuckinghoo. Nobody know what will happen 40 years from now, probably will be some sort of basic income anyway. I hate your sloganising. Please do post but make an effort.

gussyfinknottle · 13/02/2018 09:51

"Tory Class genocide" is a silly notion. It is also a silly notion to pin everything on home ownership- actually rather Thatcherite.

makeourfuture · 13/02/2018 09:56

boofuckinghoo

Their taxes pay for old people like me.

makeourfuture · 13/02/2018 09:58

Tory Class genocide" is a silly notion

You alright? Good.

They are taking poor people's children. There have been tens of thousands of deaths due to cuts.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 13/02/2018 10:00

makeourfuture seriously give it a rest of come up with something more than one lined sound bites.

makeourfuture · 13/02/2018 10:00

pin everything on home ownership- actually rather Thatcherite.

Not with no social housing. Or tenant protection.

AngryAttackKittens · 13/02/2018 10:05

Today's challenge is for Make to write an entire paragraph that makes a coherent point and suggests that she, personally, is going to do something rather than just demanding that other women do things for her.

Just one paragraph. Shouldn't be too hard, right?

Popchyk · 13/02/2018 10:11

make your whataboutery is exactly the reason why women are leaving the Labour Party over this.

Worried about the erasure of women? Why don't you STFU and do unpaid work to solve other issues that the party has deemed are important?

That's about the extent of it.

TheXXFactor · 13/02/2018 10:15

We do need to remember that the poster calling herself Jennifer James may be an imposter. Whoever is posting as her clearly knows her views well, but may be shit-stirring by exaggerating them. For example, JJ posted an update to the Go Fund Me appeal, praising the Spectator article (and just commenting in passing that she disagrees with his views on Corbyn), whereas she appears to be condemning the article totally here. The tone is inconsistent. A clever TRA or general trouble-maker might be trying to discredit the crowd-funder.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 13/02/2018 10:18

We do need to remember that the poster calling herself Jennifer James may be an imposter.

As I said elsewhere, could be but her reaction to a Kirkup tweet would suggest not.
