Here's my post replying to Moth
Thats an interesting article moth. Best not on the board or MRAs would be all over it!
I was wondering today, hopefully, if the news about darts getting rid of the girls means the overton window is shifting and maybe p0rn will become less acceptable?
If not all this hooha about F1 girls and the presidents club is just tinkering on the edges.

hi MissMoneyPlant

what can I get you to drink?

as far as I'm concerned you can talk about whatever you want to talk about here. And I'm sorry you've had to deal with shit. Flowers

Theinconstantgardener · 03/05/2018 17:31

Psyc system pathologising life experiences
Read that alot on Feminism chat over the years. Not to minimise what you are going through of course. What im trying to say i think , albeit not very well, is that you are not alone.

Theinconstantgardener · 03/05/2018 17:32

And echo what womaninGreen said

QuentinSummers · 03/05/2018 17:36

There was a thread a while back about psychiatry and feminism that I will try to dig out for you

I remember that thread Quentin, it was very useful to think about mental health services and attitudes to women.

Have a Wineor a Brew, the pub is a nice place to hang out, @MissMoneyPlant

Can't imagine anything that 'disqualifies' you from feminist spaces. Welcome.

Hello Smile

MissMoneyPlant · 03/05/2018 21:36

Thank you Blush
It's difficult to put into words, but I can't separate my feminism from the context/experiences I've had around mental health. My goodness, I wish I'd had someone from the FWR board (maybe Datun!) to sit me down and give me feminism 101 years ago. It should be standard for all women with MH issues. (That and Relationships.) Grin

QuentinSummers · 03/05/2018 21:39

I have MH issues too and as I get older I am realising more and more they are caused by being female (how men treat me and female socialization) Sad

I'm up late drinking because of a mother in hospital tomorrow thing (not a driver so don't worry).

Anyone got any jokes?

Weezol · 03/05/2018 23:59

Two fish in a tank. One looks at the other and says "Can you remember how to drive this thing?"

WomaninGreen · 04/05/2018 00:19

That me lol properly
Thank you Grin

WomaninGreen · 04/05/2018 00:20

*made

The next drink shall be my last before bed!

picklemepopcorn · 04/05/2018 07:26

I'm convinced a lot of women are on antidepressants because their partners should be! Dealing with my DH finished me off!

FermatsTheorem · 04/05/2018 08:54

Yup pickle I remember my sister being given antidepressants when what her GP should have said was LT (violent, abusive) B. I've also thought for years that a lot of women's mental health problems come from being powerless and shat on in a sexist society, and from being trained from an early age not to express anger, even when they're being shat on and anger would be a perfectly reasonable response.

Argh, horrid thread in relationships - a woman has been raped by her husband (still in pain after surgery to repair birth injuries, said stop, he insisted on "finishing") and the thread is fucking mobbed with Stepford wife rape apologists. It's like wave after wave of zombies in a horror movie. I've never seen so many in one place. Time was when MN wouldn't have put up with that sort of shit.

MissMoneyPlant · 04/05/2018 11:03

being trained from an early age not to express anger, even when they're being shat on and anger would be a perfectly reasonable response.

A psychiatrist would call it "unreasonable anger". Hmm

picklemepopcorn · 04/05/2018 11:15

I had a lovely psych who asked why I felt the need to protect people from my anger. It had never occurred to me it was ok to be angry.

It's awful when the psychs get it wrong- you are in no position to defend yourself.

WomaninGreen · 04/05/2018 11:25

Pickle, I'm hoping you mean exH...?

QuentinSummers · 04/05/2018 12:15

That thread is awful fermat

OP posts:
picklemepopcorn · 04/05/2018 12:47

No, he's ok now woman. I couldn't hold up under my own issues and his. We've worked it out now.

Yes, that thread is awful, and I don't think OP has come back.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 04/05/2018 12:58

Top three thread in currently in FWR were started by bio males, all talking about themselves

I can be arsed with it.

Have to say I was astonished at the accuracy of Jean H's phophecy on the 'teach me about about feminism ladies' thread, where she said that men, when they enter a female enviroment, divide the women and that the need to cater to men's needs becomes v obvious very quickly.

Going to go for a big walk with the dug. Anyone have any good podcast - getting a bit bored with my current list. Nothing to do with trans issues please, fucking had enough for now.

Hitting the wine early tonight. I'm crabbit as fuck today.

picklemepopcorn · 04/05/2018 14:23

Well spotted! Hope the walk clears a bit of stress out...
