Here's my post replying to Moth
Thats an interesting article moth. Best not on the board or MRAs would be all over it!
I was wondering today, hopefully, if the news about darts getting rid of the girls means the overton window is shifting and maybe p0rn will become less acceptable?
If not all this hooha about F1 girls and the presidents club is just tinkering on the edges.

I have not read the article, can you point me in the right direction?

I dissociate, but in response to talking about or dealing with very specific events, which may be different. I hope the therapy helps, in the meantime, be gentle with yourself.

My DH is not abusive but the bit about depersonalisation just rang huge bells

Quentin Flowers

Katara · 06/04/2018 21:49

Thank you, I have read it Quentin. xH ticks 13 of the 16 boxes on the ‘Clues’ list at least. I clearly had a very rusty shark cage. But then I want to know where are the articles telling guys not to be sharks, how not to breach boundaries, how to respect women? I want to live in a world where shark cages are not necessary, or where the sharks are caged. But then I guess if you can keep the sharks out, your world is shark-free at an individual level at least. What a lovely thought. I will read and re-read.

I hope you feel a bit better soon Quentin

QuentinSummers · 06/04/2018 21:52

Thank you. You are all so lovely Flowers

sorry you're having a hard time Quentin.

I was just reading Molly Ringwald's take on the Breakfast Club now. There are definitely films i saw early teens that I couldn't watch again in spite of seeing the fundamental skill in the screenwriting.

also I remember at school people kept telling me to watch Catholic Boys. Ugh, that depiction of boys. Never watched American Pie and all that because it seems obvious from the trailers that ...just...no.

QuentinSummers · 07/04/2018 12:46

American pie is good! Puerile but not laddish

SpringNowPlease2018 · 09/04/2018 12:27

Quentin, I just looked it up...it sounds horrendously misogynistic to me.

QuentinSummers · 09/04/2018 16:53

Nah I don't think so. It's a long time since I watched it but it's just puerile.
I have a bit of a soft spot because the boys are all after a bible of how to be a sex God which is basically how to go down on a woman. I like it that sex God is synonymous with women's pleasure in the film.

isn't one of the characters secretly filming a girl getting undressed?

QuentinSummers · 09/04/2018 18:03

Err not really from what I can remember. It's more accidental

OP posts:
SpringNowPlease2018 · 09/04/2018 18:50

Accidental filming of a woman getting undressed for the purpose of a film "laugh" wouldn't make it any better tbh.

QuentinSummers · 09/04/2018 19:08

I've just been googling and it looks like a pretty antifeminist film Grin
Not sure what mainstream feminist films there are actually. Off for another google

SpringNowPlease2018 · 09/04/2018 20:04

Do you mean misogynistic rather than anti feminist?

Those teen movies often are ragingly misigynistic aren't they?

SpringNowPlease2018 · 09/04/2018 20:05

Sorry, I think I'm just massively confused to find someone saying that film isn't anti women but okay, I haven't seen it.

QuentinSummers · 09/04/2018 21:04

It's kind of anti everyone!

OP posts:
QuentinSummers · 09/04/2018 21:06

You know you are going to have to watch it now Wink

That sounds like a thread in its own right, but probably a short one.

SarahCarer · 09/04/2018 21:50

Made in Dagenham. The Colour Purple. Two of the greats

SpringNowPlease2018 · 09/04/2018 22:43

Ew, I would not watch that. Teenage boys....I didn't even bother dealing with them when I was kid!

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 09/04/2018 22:50
