Gender neutral sex ed
Women in leadership making room for transwomen (because you know how many women are in leadership roles)
BUS accepting transwomen to compete as women in sports

I will not be forced to lie and say that a man is a woman.
... I am supposed to collude in the lie that a man is a woman, because he says he is? And we all have to go along with that and welcome him with open arms to speak 'for us'?

Fuck. That.

This.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 21/02/2016 15:26

I loved that episode of Buffy Joan.

Sorry, misses point spectacularly! Grin

I have had a similar experience when I worked in retail to the above poster.

There is also a transwoman who lives near me and is incredibly aggressive. I do not want to share a dressing room with that person and I wouldn't want them to speak for me.

Obviously, most transwomen are probably lovely, jeez it's like the "not all men." disclaimer women have to attach to any statement they make!

The transrights movement is a powerful tool for the patriarchy, it's making us scramble to protect what little rights we do have, let alone push forward for full equality.

SirVixofVixHall · 21/02/2016 15:30

Koomba-I wasn't intending to suggest in any way that this sort of perverse behaviour is the same as someone who feels uncomfortable with their own body and its sex. More that opening women's safe spaces to men who can choose an identity like a coat, opens those spaces to abuse from men whose motives may be very different from the norm.

abbsismyhero · 21/02/2016 18:55

women should be allowed to be safe have safe places if we can't even pee in peace then we are stuck back in the house again hiding out

in many places in india women can't go to the toilet for fear of being raped attacked or abused

im just not sure how comfortable i am living in this country anymore i really fear for my daughter

Cellardoor1 · 21/02/2016 19:20

I'm really shocked that she was successful in implementing gender neutral toilets after a woman had already been raped in that nightclub.

ChewySofa · 21/02/2016 19:21

very few people even discuss that or how many men who are actually autogynophiles
I can tell you how many scientists believe in Ray Blanchard's theory of Autogynophilia. One. (Ray Blanchard). A discredited theory invented by Blanchard who ignored any results that didn't fit in with it.

Jsoosty · 21/02/2016 19:25

I'm at my limit of reading the following:

'You're on the wrong side of history'
'Why do we define people by their genitals'
'It's just to let people pee'

Breaking news. There's this teensy tiny thing called 'gender' that has sorted the world order into those in charge - who use violence, coercion and a wide variety of silencing tools to preserve this position- and those who come second. This has been done according to perceived reproductive ability, including the obvious presence of- you've guessed it- female genitals. Pointing this out is not being on the 'wrong side of history' but actually flipping understanding history.
And I'm sorry that your need to pee is inconvenienced. So is my and my daughters' because the presence of Shrodinger's rapist sort of gives me stage fright.

3point14159265359 · 21/02/2016 19:44

If the toilets really are a third option as PP said, then I'm absolutely fine with it. I would care a lot if they were replacing men's/women's toilets.

forkhandles4candles · 21/02/2016 19:44

Had to look up terfs, mentioned downthread. Oh my, the Wikipedia entry is somewhat monstrously biased.

forkhandles4candles · 21/02/2016 19:47

Ah just realised it is on something called rationalwikipedia....?

Valanice1989 · 21/02/2016 20:04

ChewySofa, I can't understand how the theory of autogynephilia could be discredited. I've seen so many posts online from MtFs who describe the exact symptoms. Here are just a few:

transgenderreality.com/2015/04/14/is-it-normal-to-get-erect-when-doing-girly-things-sexual-fetishism-in-the-trans-community/

If it's not a fetish, and MtFs are no different from any other women, why are most of them lesbians?

MrsJamin · 21/02/2016 20:24

So women's hard-fought rights are going to be taken away by a man, and we all feel silenced to speak up about it? Is it really 2016?

VincentVanLowe · 21/02/2016 20:25

The net is full of forums where men discuss their autogynephilia in explicit detail. They aren't shy about it amongst themselves. Spend ten minutes in any trans discussion forum and find a dozen easy examples. Of course in public some of them deny or downplay it, instead we get the Most Oppressed Ever Civil Rights Movement Of Our Time crap.

Plus there's at least two factions of trans males who openly admit to autogynephilia. First you've got the ones who discuss it as a disorder of some sort that they're trying to work through, then you've got the ones who claim autogynephilia is actually a part of normal womanhood, claiming that all women get turned on by the thought of themselves in sexy knickers.

Plus, one only has to Google the word Sissy to see that autogynephilia is real.

ShortcutButton · 21/02/2016 20:39

jamming some people have been questioning Anna on her manifesto...on her Facebook page. It has been suggested that most of what she purposes is in the interest of Trans women and not women. There has been some very dodgy deletions going on, on the basis of bigotry...then posters challenging that are deleted along with Anna's replies....so it just looks as if the conversations never happened

Not good. Not good at all

MrsJamin · 21/02/2016 20:47

"She" has also been responded to on twitter with no response.

SirVixofVixHall · 21/02/2016 20:48

I looked at the Anna Lee vid again, ye Gods it is so dreadful. My 8 year old could do a far better job than that. It is making me wonder if it really is a wind-up? Or do people just feel sorry for Anna? Or are young women being guilt tripped into voting to prove that they aren't prejudiced? I'm really baffled.

VincentVanLowe · 21/02/2016 21:02

Tbh I'm at the point now where using the phrase "trans woman" feels like I'm knifing myself in the back. It causes me grating mental pain whenever I come across it. I don't believe in transgender at all. Males can't become women, not through surgery, verbal identification, wishful thinking, or any other method. They just can't. The phrase "trans women" implies a subset of women and they are not a subset of women, they are a subset of men. I resent being forced to listen to or use this blatantly bullshit terminology. To have any honest discussion the terms need to be clear and accurate and this one has been carefully chosen to present a lie as a fact, it creates massive issues with having any discussion and it is obviously supposed to! It's propaganda. But if we don't use it, if we say "men who claim to be women" which is the damn truth bang you can expect your posts to disappear, banned from so-called feminist groups, no platforming, etc.

There exist some people with serious mental health issues around accepting the sexed form of their own bodies. I don't agree that surgery is an appropriate treatment for that and I dont believe it means they have opposite sexed brains. It's a disorder that requires mental health support. That's it.

As for all the self identifying trans women who don't even suffer this disorder - I reckon they fall into two groups. Gay men with issues around being gay (their own issues or the ones forced on them, like those in Iran or those camp little boys whose homophobic parents can't deal), or they are creepy misogynists with a fetish they like to force on other people, forcing women in particular to play along by 'validating' them in our public and private spaces. Blanchard hasn't been debunked, far from it. The reality is so in your face obvious it requires total censorship by government and media to maintain the delusion.

VincentVanLowe · 21/02/2016 21:12

"It is making me wonder if it really is a wind-up? Or do people just feel sorry for Anna? Or are young women being guilt tripped into voting to prove that they aren't prejudiced? "

All the above, to varying extents? The publicity has started for "first trans woman ever to stand for nus woman's office". It's so manipulative from the get go.

SansaryaAgain · 21/02/2016 21:13

Has Anna explained what gender neutral sex ed is yet?

VincentVanLowe · 21/02/2016 21:24

Presumably young women who've been convinced of the existence of a female penis now need emergency sex ed to ensure they know that they can get pregnant from 'lesbian sex'.

And young women who've been convinced they can identify out of womanhood need emergency sex ed to ensure they know they can get pregnant from 'gay male sex'.

Maybe gender neutral sex ed means sorting that out? Cos free love is awesome but pregnancy is a really inconvenient factor for penis havers, whatever their chosen gender.

Mrsmorton · 21/02/2016 21:41

This candidate doesn't want debate, he's blocked me on Twitter and I haven't even mentioned his name! I was going to ask about the sex ed thing but, no chance. The only tweet I sent was to make people aware that trans are trying to represent women. I didn't even state an opinion on it.

FFS. Free speech, as long as it's not about trans and as long as the trans agree with it, even when it's not about them.

MagicalRealist · 21/02/2016 21:42

But if we don't use it, if we say "men who claim to be women" which is the damn truth bang you can expect your posts to disappear, banned from so-called feminist groups, no platforming, etc.

Sorry if this sounds stupid but does anyone know whether this deleting and banning over the use of "transphobic" terminology is a legal issue or whether it's optional on the part of site owners?

MagicalRealist · 21/02/2016 21:43

FFS. Free speech, as long as it's not about trans and as long as the trans agree with it, even when it's not about them.

And they call US bigots Hmm

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 21/02/2016 21:53

Makes me think of that female professor in America who "pretended" to be black for years. Then it was found out she was Caucasian and she lost her job and was ridiculed in the media for insisting she identified as black.

MamaMary · 21/02/2016 21:53

Magic, it's not illegal to question transgender issues.

The thought police would like us to believe it is, though. There is a VERY active trans lobby out there policing the internet. And they don't need to worry forums such as the Guardian who do the policing for them.'

I am not a fan of Jeremy Clarkson, I think he's an utter knob, but he wrote a column a few weeks back in which he stated 'I'm sick of hearing about trans stuff all the time'. He was then bombarded by a campaign of abuse and hate mail on his Twitter account. I think he was shocked by the response.

It is kind of scary. But we need to all keep speaking out about this.
