working mothers

The company I work for is signed up with 'wellbeing works' - this is part of our 'benefits' and there are helplines you can use etc. Every week they send out an email, usually with articles about health, stress in the workplace, your workplace rights etc. I have already had to complain to them once this year about an article entitled 'Rape: don't become another statistic' warning women not to drink too much or give off mixed messages to male colleagues in the pub Hmm

Now today I see [[http://eu.healthinsite.net/ContentViewerPane/ContentViewerPane.aspx?cookie=2100001605&Content=5914&ContentType=2
this little gem]] about working mothers and how to deal with having to spend nights away from your family.

I don't know where to start really, there are just SO MANY things in there that make my blood boil. Would anyone like to kick off? And any input into the complaint email I'll be sending this afternoon would be welcomed too!

Not sure how I missed this the first time, but the writer is moaning on about his mother not freezing meals in advance before she went into hospital. Selfish cow!

Holy fecking shit. I mean...really?

Has Freud come back from the dead? Why should women in South Africa working for AXA not be treated the same way as women working in England?

Well done novicemama! Good result, hope they learn from it. And glad it's gone from the site.

Novicemama. I am speechless. I cannot believe that this shit is being sent to staff. I think your response is great. You may want to ask them what they think the Equal Opportunities Commission would think of their 'advice'.

My husband manages perfectly well when I am not at home. He is gobsmacked.

Who do you work for, is it a large organisation. I work for the NHS and I cant imagine them doing this. Tell them from me
I AM APPALLED. By the way is there a similar load of bull shit aimed at men?

When they did the rape advice did they have any for men. For example, dont get that pissed that you think every woman is desperate to have sex with you under any circumstances!

(bumping this so I can read it at a later date)

I haven't read all the comments on this thread, but [the vile crap] is written just for coupled hetrosexual women. Not for lesbian mums or single mums. I would have thought it was illegal to be hetrosexist to your employees.

Oh, just noticed the dates Blush

"Munching on mommy's meals will remind them of how much you love them"

Urgh, you get this in Japan a lot. Once a week DD gets a packed lunch and it's supposed to be a work of art to show your children how much you love them.

My children already know I love them. They don't need me to show it through food.

novicemama - print out this thread, and then get MNHQ to delete it. Print it out to prove you didn't say which firm it was, and delete it because they might not be best pleased about you starting it. It'll be clear it's you, because they'll know who they sent that reply to...

Longtinsellyjosie · 19/12/2010 20:34

Ooh this is old. Sorry Blush
