What is the quickest way to heal a sore vagina??

So at the weekend had a very err active sex session… but I am sore! In the entrance to my vagina on one side I have a sore, I think probably like a friction burn? What is the quickest/best way to heal it?? I’m keeping it clean especially after I have been to the toilet but it hurts! Don’t really want to go to GP as I don’t think they can do much other than suggest something over the counter? I have sudocream, germolene, tea tree oil… any suggestions please??

Diaper rash cream? 🤷🏻‍♀️

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 12/01/2022 17:26

It's starting to sound more like herpes.
You need a doctors appointment to get diagnosed, it doesn't come up on a standard STI screen

JustFrustrated · 12/01/2022 17:26

It's way too soon to see any STI appearances.

It'll be a friction burn.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 12/01/2022 17:27

No it's not. You could have had the virus for a little while and a vigorous session could have triggered an outbreak

soberdovered · 12/01/2022 17:29

Get some lube for next time and some multigyn active gel for afterwards. They sell it in Boots and on Amazon.

Also I swear by a post session ice pack! Get an eyemask one- bliss !

Ouchmy · 12/01/2022 17:32

I have not had sex since my last check…. This is the first time? I had a thorough one inc bloods before? I wasn’t ready and like I said it lasted a long time… shit, could do with out this. Had the salt bath.

I picked up literally everything in the chemist, including brulidine cream, how about that??? Or is that the same as putting germolene on it?

I would 100% have it checked for STI, sorry I know that's not fun but it's not worth risking your health. Most people carry the herpes virus and some can live years without any symptoms.

Ouchmy · 12/01/2022 17:47

@pocketfullofstorms what do they do if it is herpes? Would they take a swab presumably and send it off? How is it treated? GUM clinic is miles away from me and can’t get there next couple days due to DC. Might be able to get GP apt…

Having googled images it looks nothing like the herpes images that come up

They would swab and send away for results and prescribe anti viral treatment. Try not to worry but do get it checked just incase.

Frostine · 12/01/2022 18:02

I don't think you can rule out herpes tbh . Best get checked out.

Crumbs22 · 12/01/2022 18:11

@Ouchmy

Yes *@Mrsjayy* I’m thinking more like an ulcer. I know I was completely clear as I have always had Sti checks with a new partner, he was in very long term relationship before but I guess I could have caught something??? I have never had an sti… I really hope it isn’t. How would I know the difference? Just by seeing the GP and getting tests??
I would say to see a GP or go to a sexual health clinic. They will take swabs etc and test which I think it best just to be on the safe side. Did he have a STI check as well - being a long term relationship doesn't mean one or the other didn't play away so to speak?
Rubyyyy · 12/01/2022 18:19

Please get a sti check done, you can get herpes from oral sex aswell as penetrative sex.

Better to be safe than sorry.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 12/01/2022 18:29

If you book a GP appointment they will take a look and then swab for a proper diagnosis.
It's really not something to chance and it does sound a possibility.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 12/01/2022 18:30

And I reiterate not to put anything on it. Not until you know what it is, you could make it worse.

Squills · 12/01/2022 18:41

Sudocreme

IcicleIcicle · 12/01/2022 18:42

Hate to tell you OP but this is exactly how my first herpes outbreak started, I thought it was a friction burn and then was aggravated by wearing thongs (when I was young and thin!) and it looked nothing like any pics of herpes blisters. Even the doc at the FPC said it didn't look like herpes but I went to get tested (swab and bloods but a long time ago so don't know if still the same) and it came back positive. You need to get to the GUM clinic before it heals ideally so they can swab it, sorry OP.,

GlitterSquid · 12/01/2022 18:48

Herpes, again. As the week goes on you may find it becomes more difficult to pee, like your body just won't let go of the wee if it travels up your urinary tract.

You need to visit a sexual health clinic because even if you don't have anything they can advise. They will swab, offer you a blood test to check for anything else and possibly give you a lidocaine numbing cream. Don't worry, they're lovely people, there's no judgement.

Salt baths, definitely!!!!

thingymaboob · 12/01/2022 18:54

@Ouchmy are you sure it's not genital herpes?

Inthesameboatatmo · 12/01/2022 19:04

Sounds like herpes to me as well op sorry . That was my first thought as I read the first post. Call around the sexual health clinics tomorrow to see which one has soonest availability. Failing that get a private gp appt if possible and they should be able to help . But fingers crossed its a friction burn

Ouchmy · 12/01/2022 19:07

It looks nothing like herpes at all. Obv I’m not saying it isn’t as I’m no expert and never had it. I can’t get to a GUM clinic any time in the next couple days. I could try GP tomo but that’s hard work these days.

I was sore in between the labia majora bit, but today that’s just slightly red. Iv had a salt bath and not put anything on it. Is there nothing at all over night that won’t aggravate if it IS herpes?? I have witch hazel, tea tree, so wouldn’t put them directly on, could dab some on pj bottoms?

Do a search for herpes in the health topics on MN and you will read many tales identical to yours, where it has turned out that the poster has herpes.

There's also been some brilliant advice from a sexual health nurse on prior threads.

Hope you can get seen soon Flowers

midlifecrash · 12/01/2022 19:15

It could be thrush. Not nice but prob preferable to herpes. Clinic and test

LuckyAmy1986 · 12/01/2022 19:17

Bath with epsom salts with a few drops of lavendar and tee tree oil
