What is the quickest way to heal a sore vagina??

So at the weekend had a very err active sex session… but I am sore! In the entrance to my vagina on one side I have a sore, I think probably like a friction burn? What is the quickest/best way to heal it?? I’m keeping it clean especially after I have been to the toilet but it hurts! Don’t really want to go to GP as I don’t think they can do much other than suggest something over the counter? I have sudocream, germolene, tea tree oil… any suggestions please??

Dettol baths don't sting. Salt water is probably better though.

Inthesameboatatmo · 18/01/2022 08:51

Dettol baths don't sting at all. Just put a cap full in a bath of water and soak . Salt water will sting if anything

I have been having a salt bath at the end of each day for a week tomorrow… last night I put some lavender drops in it. So fed up with it Sad
@Inthesameboatatmo won’t that burn like hell though?? I have never done one… is it literally just the dettol you buy for the house?
Yes its the one you get in the 1l bottle (well that is how we buy it). It will be so very diluted if you put a capful in a bath. It is a bit of a go to here, when my dc were small they would always be scratched and cut from climbing trees, come off the bike etc.

I think it will sting less that salt tbh.

Just for the sake of nostalgia, I have a Dettol bath every now and then. Smile

Ouchmy · 18/01/2022 09:06

@isthismylifenow until I came on here I had never heard of a dettol bath! The salt bath doesn’t actually sting!

Do try lanolin. I had a sore/grazed perineum for about a week. Tried sudocrem but it did nothing and was quite drying. Remembered about lanolin from breastfeeding days and so tried a bit of lanolips that I happened to have to hand. No more pain when peeing and healed within a day or 2. Just warm the lanolin between your fingers before applying so you don't drag your skin.

Buy some vitamin E capsules from the health shop. Break one open and apply the oil directly to the sore place. Vitamin E is great for healing but most creams have hardly any actual vit e oil in them.

Ouchmy · 18/01/2022 09:18

Ok great thanks will also try those 2 things.

@bettybadger which one please? Looked on Amazon but quite a few!

I don't live in the UK, so maybe it is just a thing here.

It was just a suggestion though. I did use Dettol in my baths after giving birth, it wasn't ever a recommended thing to do by a Dr, its just something that we do here.

I do hope it starts healing soon though.

EBearhug · 18/01/2022 10:39

Dettol baths are a thing in the UK, too. I think the bottle has instructions on how much to use.

thickthighs73 · 18/01/2022 10:53

No wonder you are sore you are putting so many different lotions and potions on it

I had the pear one of these in my handbag:

There's a fragrance free one but the fruity ones also have vitamin E in (though perhaps not much going by pp!) I'd just advise against the minty one Grin

Think I had Lansinoh when I was breastfeeding. Anything that's high enough quality to put on your skin should be ok.

Hope you're fully healed soon!!!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 18/01/2022 15:20

If you were born in the 70s you'll be well aquatinted with a Dettol bathGrin

Salt doesn't sting and is excellent for healing as the OP says.

OP this seems a long time after enthusiastic sex to be in so much pain still, a whole week ?

Ouchmy · 18/01/2022 17:21

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor I know! But the GP really wasn’t concerned. It is healing, just really slowly. To be fair by Wednesday last week just walking was hurting. Now it’s still stinging when I pee and a bit uncomfortable each time I sit down or stand up? I’m just desperate for it to heal and be back to normal!

OP posts:
Emmelina · 18/01/2022 18:09

I wonder if too many lotions and potions might be messing with the healing at this stage. I’ve not read every update since my last post as there are loads! But might be worth going commando as far as possible with little ones around (loose trackie bottoms, no knickers) and letting the girl’s natural ph balance take over!

Ouchmy · 18/01/2022 18:25

@Emmelina I did do that today actually as I have been mostly at home. Yes I have tried a lot of things, trying desperately to heal. Somethings have made it worse so stopped straight away. Today just doing salt bath with lavender drops plus the honey cream that was mentioned up thread, certainly not worse at all so sticking with just that for now and will see!

Ouchmy · 20/01/2022 10:47

@MrsPnut I am just using that cream for these last few days. Doesn’t sting etc. how long did it take to work? I’m no longer having to pour water when I pee although it does sting a bit. The sores are still there. Did you use any cream under this honey one at all or just the honey? As it’s a barrier cream I’m trying to work out if I should try putting sudocream or similar then this on top?

OP posts:
MrsPnut · 20/01/2022 12:11

Just the barrier cream, it’s to stop the wee stinging really whilst providing some healing properties.

I used it alongside estriol cream because my oestrogen levels are low after having pelvic radiotherapy which shut down my ovaries. The estriol cream really worked the wonders but the medihoney meant I didn’t hit the roof when I went to the loo.
