@Welshandpro If I were you, I'd phone the scan clinic / secretary every morning and ask if there's been any cancellations for that day. They happen (esp at the moment because of Covid - people having to isolate) and you may get lucky with a last-minute appointment.
Good idea. When my mum had cancer i had to persuade my dad that the squeakiest wheel gets oiled first. He had too much respect for the system iykwim.

Welshandpro · 14/11/2021 12:32

@cultkid the thing is I'm not in agony .. yes I'm in pain but only slight pain and if I go to a and e I'm afraid that they will turn me away anyway .. mind you they might if they see the size of my stomach x

cultkid · 14/11/2021 13:14

They won't turn you away and frankly
I think you're being irresponsible by not escalating this. You have children and you owe it to them.

If this is what's going on on the outside think about what could be going on inside of you.

If it was cancer you will hate yourself for not insisting.

Welshandpro · 14/11/2021 13:40

@cultkid I have pushed this every week and I've phoned scanning dept on Friday .. if it doesn't come this week the appt then I will go as urgently.. believe me I am thinking of my family and that's all I do

Just pop down to a&e whilst the kids don't need collecting from school honestly it will be the best option

You look pregnant

Me again! When I went to GP they initially told to go home and wait for my referral to hospital but go to a&e if the pain got too much. That evening I decided to go to a&e anyway as I was just worried and over it (as are you). I wasn't in too much pain by that point but they saw me and admitted me there and then. Had the scan the next day. Honestly go to A&E x

Fattydontknowwhattowear · 14/11/2021 15:47

Hi, just popping on to day my very good friend had this, she went to A&E as she couldn’t get on top of the ever increasing discomfort her tummy was giving her as it grew.
She didn’t come out until they’d operated to remove her uterus, ovaries, omentum and cervix. It was borderline cancer and she was diagnosed within a day of going to hospital.
All the best OP I do hope you get seen very soon xx

cultkid · 14/11/2021 17:12

@HealthworriesNC

Sorry you think I'm being rude

I'm giving some tough love to the OP

Could be nothing could be something
She hasn't done all she can do because she hasn't gone to a&e

It's not mean or rude of me to encourage a woman I think is not looking after her best interests to do the difficult thing and go to a&e

I've been really supportive for the whole thread and if you look at my posts I'm always helpful and kind to people

You've made an accusation that is just so wrong

@Welshandpro how are you feeling today?
Any progress?

Cassimin · 15/11/2021 18:54

I haven’t read the full thread but felt I had to post as I am worried for you.
Please go to a&e. My mum had this, her dr kept fobbing her off with loose weight, it’s a hernia...
it was ovarian cancer.
Don’t want to scare you but I’ve heard of so many mistakes and misdiagnosis that have not ended well.
You know your own body, you know it’s not right, do not let it go.

Justwingingit2005 · 15/11/2021 18:56

Hi

My mum was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
A ca125 below 35 is normal but not everyone with ovarian cancer has a high number, but also high numbers do not always mean ovarian cancer so its not reliable.

Mums symptoms were:
Bloating that never went down. Always had a big tummy which increased in size over weeks.
UTI symptoms. Needing a wee more.
Indigestion and loss of appetite.
Backache.
Tiredness.
Irratic Periods.
Short of breathe.

Her GP fobbed her off for 3 months saying it was the menopause or IBS.
It wasn't until she collapsed it was taken seriously.

ricepolo · 15/11/2021 19:34

It’s not a post menopausal disease either. I was 29 with a 9m old baby…

Welshandpro · 16/11/2021 11:12

Hi all
I thought I would give you an update ..
I attended a and e last night waited 7 hours .. saw doctor who said my pelvic scan is in 2 weeks and to wait for that .. did general bloods which came back ok .. so have to basically wait u till the scan on my ovaries.. he stated that my stomach was distended and the scan would be the next best thing .. so I'm no further forward x

IncessantNameChanger · 16/11/2021 13:48

I'm so sorry to hear of your update. I have also got a string of symptoms with no plan to find out what's wrong. I feel a bit more worse and hopeless each day. Private doesnt even seem.to be a option as no idea where to start.

Luckily you have a starting point soon with the scan. Also your bloods are ok. I know its horrible waiting.

cultkid · 16/11/2021 13:55

Hello @welsh

Urgh what a sad update so sorry to hear this

The system sounds SO stretched where you are

Sending so much love xxx

ChristmasPlanning · 16/11/2021 19:48

So frustrated reading your update OP. Are you prepared to wait 2 weeks or will you pay for a private scan?

Welshandpro · 17/11/2021 18:22

@ChristmasPlanning I'm going to stick with the nhs scan as it's only a week on Monday .. I'm in more pain now and my stomach is getting bigger and more pregnant looking .. it's just a waiting game now ,. Feels like forever

If you feel the pain is getting really bad don't write off emergency care.

Do painkillers help @Welshandpro ??

Dillydollydingdong · 17/11/2021 18:30

I don't suppose you drink too much alchohol OP? (Not trying to be rude). My sister had something called ascites as a result of too much alcohol. It made her stomach look so big people thought she was pregnant.

Welshandpro · 17/11/2021 20:01

@justasking111 I will do if it gets any worse

@Dillydollydingdong no I only drink on occasion once a month

Ascites just means there's fluid in the abdomen. It can have a number of causes.
Dillydollydingdong · 17/11/2021 21:15

careerchangeperhaps that's as maybe. All I'm saying is that my sister's was as a result of alchohol.
