Period Problems After Covid-19 Vaccines?

106 replies

W3STY17 · 11/10/2021 23:05

I know this seems to be quite common but I wanted to ask on here.

Has anyone had problems with their periods since having the covid vaccines?
If yes what problems have you had?

My periods have disappeared, LMP was 23/06/21.
I have PCOS but that's all the doctors seem to put it down to.

This isn't normal for me even with the PCOS, which I've been diagnosed for a number of years.

I have done endless pregnancy tests. Every time I speak with the doctors this is what they ask me to do? But always negative.

I've been experiencing bad stomach cramping since august.

I feel like I'm being fobbed off by the doctors.
No one seems to want to help me.

I'm booked into see a gynaecologist late November.

Is it dangerous to skip this many periods?
What'll happen when I do get a period, will it be even heavier than I normally experience?

Please be kind - I've had a bit of hate on here before & it makes me nervous to write a thread..

@Polyputthekettleon
I'm glad I'm not the only one who won't get my child vaccinated.
I know it's been awful but how are you ever meant to build a immunity if you keep pumping your body with stuff to prevent it surely you should be able to try and prevent yourself. Surely that's how your immune system works?

All I can say is I've skipped periods for years at a time due to compulsive exercising. Had no apparent effect on fertility or pregnancy, since I got pregnant immediately each time.

Totally sympathise with you regarding the side effects, but just want to clarify that vaccines work by provoking your own immune system to build its own immunity.

I think vaccines are truly wonderful things. I also think that stimulating the immune system (by way of vaccine or natural infections) has an impact on women’s bodies that is underplayed and under-investigated. Most probably a transient effect, but downplaying it will only breed suspicion.

Personally, I wonder if the adult female dose (being the same as the default human adult male dose) is a little too high for many women. Interesting article about vaccine doses and women’s vs men’s immune systems

What is hometown hero?
I'm so many months now post vaccine but still no period.
Still in immense pain on a daily basis.
No period since October.
My body isn't the same & something isn't right.
It's not good surely to go this length of time without a period?[/quote]
They've posted on a thread of mine about the same thing so I looked it up and it's a CBD vape thing. Not sure if they are new as there are only two posts under this name, or if it's a sales thing. Their response to my post I thought was a bit bizarre to say the least.

In answer to your op I had the opposite issue in that I bled all the time. Back to gynae we this week as there are other issues so it might have been a coincidence. My yd has pcos and her periods can have a long time between which makes the period much more painful and heavy.

W3STY17 · 13/02/2022 20:29

I have been in immense pain this weekend, thought I was gonna have to go to hospital at one point 😩
Just don't know what to do anymore..

@W3STY17 sorry to hear that op. It's so annoying isn't it. I spoke to gp last week. Bloods and US scan all clear so no explanation as to why my period has stopped. Refused to refer to a gynaecologist as everything is clear. I am so so mad at what's happened by trying to do the right thing. They've given me some meds to try and induce my period . I can't remember what it is called and I haven't picked it up from the pharmacy. I would rather not take it so i am going to give it a couple more months to see if my period comes back without intervention. My gp said that she's not going to deny that there have been " a few cases of 2-3 missed cycles following covid vaccination". Angry

W3STY17 · 14/02/2022 17:51

@Polyputthekettleon
That is disgusting..
So just because it's all clear it doesn't need investigation? It doesn't make sense.. 🤔
I definitely agree with you, there's no point pumping your body with something else.
I have appointment for may but it's just a telephone appointment, I know I shouldn't be ungrateful but what is a telephone appointment really going to achieve??
There has been so many cases of missing periods from what I've been looking up..

@W3STY17 I totally agree OP, they like telephone appointments because it's easier to fob us off and gaslight us and then hang up. I hope you get to speak to someone who actually knows what they are doing and helps you resolve this🤞

W3STY17 · 21/02/2022 09:45

@Polyputthekettleon
You couldn't be more right..
I spoke with my GP Friday who is trying to bring my appointment forward but I'm not holding out much hope..
Hope your okay x

I know this hasn’t been active since Feb but did anyone get any answers.

I’m similar to @GiveYourHeadAWobble. I had a second trimester loss in feb last year. Had “normal” periods April, May and June then since my first vaccine last July and my second one end of august my periods have been lighter and 5-7 days of spotting before they actually start! I’ve never had this before. My cycles have always been so regular and no spotting. It’s so hard along with TTC because I’m worried what’s wrong.

W3STY17 · 29/03/2022 22:46

@Loz2467
That's okay don't worry I'm always flicking on here to see if anyone has an update!!

I don't have any answers as yet.. Still waiting!!
I still haven't had a period since October last year, & still experiencing immense pain. Doctors just keep throwing painkillers at me!

I've been referred to an Endometriosis clinic now as they suspect I have that..?

I'm just fed up with all the guess work I just want answers.

I know it's the vaccine that's done it to me cause I've never had any of this before & I regret having it so much.

Loz2467 · 30/03/2022 07:48

@W3STY17 thank you for replying! That’s super hard for you… like you said you’ve never had any issues before and now because of the vaccine this is happening. I mean I don’t think you’d suddenly get endo but I don’t know much about it. I’m thinking it’s likely the vaccine. My friend is 30 and hasn’t had a period since her vaccine last august! Her GP has referred her to a gynaecologist but the wait is over 10 months!

I don’t even know what to do - I wish I didn’t have it either because it’s making TTC so much more stressful with all the spotting and the light periods. I won’t get pregnant spotting after ovulation and having light periods. Plus I’ve got pregnant twice very quickly to a year of nothing - it doesn’t make any sense. I’m not saying it’s affected my fertility but it has affected my cycles.

I wonder if it ever leaves the system!

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 30/03/2022 18:19

I’ve just had a normal period. Last month I had very light spotting one morning instead of a period. My periods are regular at the moment, but not back to normal as far as the actual flow is concerned.
I have only had two vaccines at this point and have not had any boosters yet because of all this.
Keep us all updated if you can!

Loz2467 · 30/03/2022 18:47

Thanks @GiveYourHeadAWobble for updating! Glad this month has been a bit better for you! Mine are the same or similar amount of days to what they’ve always been and I’m having 1 per month but again issues with the actual flow.

For me it’s the spotting before my period driving me insane then only flow for 2/3 days max. I used to have a 5 day period. It’s just really panicking me ontop of TTC. If I spot from so early after ovulation surely i won’t get pregnant.

I haven’t had my booster either for this same reason. I wonder how long it takes to get back to “normal” or leave our bodies 😭 x

W3STY17 · 01/04/2022 10:16

@GiveYourHeadAWobble
Bless you. It's strange how it's changed things.
I've had loads of bloods taken recently as my hormone levels aren't right.
I'm blaming the vaccine & I won't be having my booster because of all this.
I wish I never had it done.

@Loz2467
I do wonder how long it will take to get out of our systems...

W3STY17 · 08/04/2022 20:59

So GP has said to me today following loads of bloods, that the main cause of my missed period is due to my PCOS..
I have been referred to an Endocrinologist as well as the Endometriosis Clinic.
They suggest that it's my PCOS that's cause my absence of monthly friend..
I'm still not convinced.
I've had PCOS for years & it's never caused a problem with my periods.
I still think the vaccine has messed up my body 🙁

CocoLoco123 · 08/04/2022 21:37

I'm so sorry to hear that your issues are dismissed OP. I agree with many posters that because it's only female problem then no one gives a shit. Remember the AZ and clotting? It was quickly investigated and they stopped giving AZ to under 30s as the risk outweighs benefits. Why was there no risk assessment for young women and Pfizer jab? Because it's women. Who cares about women, right?

clm43 · 09/04/2022 09:09

Hi everyone. i'm so glad to find that i'm not alone with my period problems. i'm 43 years old and despite being diagnosed with endometriosis stage 4, my periods were like clockwork, not too painful and the cycle would last 28 days. My first pfizer jab was on may 2021 and i had no issues. I got my 2nd pfizer jab on July 2021 and got my period that same day (a few weeks ahead of time). I talked about this to my GP and Gyn, and both said this is unrelated to the vaccine...Hmm Then I did the booster on December, and ever since, I have no periods. Ever since the 3rd jab i'm feeling very tired, body pain, having hot flashes, can hardly sleep due to night sweats and now i'm gaining weight... 3 kilos in the last couple of weeks despite doing 30 minutes of cardio 6 days per week. Blood tests show all my hormone levels have dropped and i'm in menopause state. My GP and endocrinologist think this might be long covid and that things should go back to normal, can't predict when though. I got covid on January btw. My GIN thinks it's menopause due to my endometriosis problem.... It's so frustrating because i'm not taken seriously and i'm sure this will have a long lasting effect on my body. I'm sure this is related to the covid vaccine. This has been debilitating as i don't sleep and my work performance has suffered being tired and in pain all the time. I also feel that my body wants to have the period yet nothing comes out. After discussing my problems with my GP, he proposed taking supplements, probiotics and a herbal treatment to help ease my menopause symptoms as I refuse to take synthetic hormones (specially if this is temporary). Has anyone experiencing this? Thanks a lot for reading me, it's my first time posting a message :)

clm43 · 09/04/2022 09:10

i'm living in France btw, so pls excuse me if my english is odd ;)

sleeplessonfriday · 29/12/2023 01:48

Hello! I know this post is quite old, but are there any updates from you ladies?

I've been reading through this post as I've been looking for hope. I have a similar story...very regular/normal periods in 2020 when I easily got pregnant with my daughter. After she was born in 2021, I got the Pfizer jab. My period didn't return for 15 months (chalked it up to breastfeeding), but when it finally returned it was very irregular, and I've just been diagnosed with premature menopause at 37. I'm fit, eat very clean, no instance of this is my family (in fact, my mother had her children naturally at 37 and 39). I'm confused and devastated. It just seems too coincidental.

Polyputthekettleon · 30/12/2023 16:39

Sorry to hear that @sleeplessonfriday . Not much has changed for me. My periods have returned somewhat. Very faint/mild, hardly any period really, and even thats very irregular. My gp has also chalked it up to possible early menopause even though the bloods don't show menopause. I am just living with it. Regret having the jab tbh.

BreatheFocusRelax · 30/12/2023 16:56

@sleeplessonfriday

I have no update unfortunately...
I'm now being tested for CFS/ME but think this could be a mixture of my other medical conditions.

My periods are still irregular.
Recently had an operation for Endometriosis but that hasn't helped.

I'm still a little clueless with all of it to be honest.
My whole life has completely changed since having that Covid injection. I really wish I never had it done 💔
