Period Problems After Covid-19 Vaccines?

W3STY17 · 11/10/2021 23:05

I know this seems to be quite common but I wanted to ask on here.

Has anyone had problems with their periods since having the covid vaccines?
If yes what problems have you had?

My periods have disappeared, LMP was 23/06/21.
I have PCOS but that's all the doctors seem to put it down to.

This isn't normal for me even with the PCOS, which I've been diagnosed for a number of years.

I have done endless pregnancy tests. Every time I speak with the doctors this is what they ask me to do? But always negative.

I've been experiencing bad stomach cramping since august.

I feel like I'm being fobbed off by the doctors.
No one seems to want to help me.

I'm booked into see a gynaecologist late November.

Is it dangerous to skip this many periods?
What'll happen when I do get a period, will it be even heavier than I normally experience?

Please be kind - I've had a bit of hate on here before & it makes me nervous to write a thread..

No changes I can recall after the first two jabs (AZ), but less than a week after getting the Pfizer booster I'm experiencing possibly the most painful period of my life. Very heavy, and such painful cramps when lying down I've hardly slept the past two nights. Hopefully I'm through the worst of it by now, because I'm exhausted.

I read that blogpost about how women are only imagining period changes (and written by a female doctor, how depressingly misogynistic of her) but I hadn't expected any changes, it's not like I've been on alert. I am peri-menopausal and I know that is when things can start to go haywire, but it's interesting that it's so severe within a week of getting the booster.

Marypoppins19 · 29/12/2021 20:23

Interesting post. I was worried that post booster I’ve had a 4 week period which I’ve never had in my life and I’m on the pill!

Rocketpants50 · 30/12/2021 18:38

2 weeks post booster has the most awful aches, my breasts hurt so much I had to wear a bra to bed, anything knocking them was so painful but this lasted a few days over Christmas and has now gone. I now have the most awful period, not had one in many years as on pill. Feel really grumpy and it's really playing with emotions. I didn't have this with Astra Zeneca just Pfizer.

baffledbunny · 30/12/2021 19:12

Yep when I had both jabs my periods stopped for around two months each after. I'm at the age of peri-menopause so I don't know if it kick-started the process for me. When I do get one it's irregular and very unusually heavy.

I just had the booster before christmas and happened to start my period on the same day. The cramps I had were the worst I'd ever had, but it could be due to feeling crap with the jab too. I guess I'll wait to see if it's affects any upcoming periods up in January and Feb or if they return to normal.

Maze76 · 31/12/2021 00:20

Noticed a change after the booster, my period was a week late, 3 weeks later , another period which started 5 days early.

Maze76 · 31/12/2021 00:20

And I also had Pfizer

RicherThanYew · 31/12/2021 00:29

I had the Pfizer and it delayed my period after the first jab, I had pre menstrual cramping and sore boobs every day for weeks until my period came. Same with the booster, I also have heavy periods so I had to wear pads for weeks on end just in case. I am trying to conceive so it's a nightmare but ofc nothing compared to those who have lost so much because of this C19.

MrsBadwood · 03/01/2022 20:02

Hello everyone,

Tbh I'm a bit relieved that people are experiencing some irregularities since. I've recently went from 'my normal' 25 days to 19 days in 2 cycles. I'm 36, DH had vasectomy so not pregnant. Had a preventative smear and ultrasound done privertly in the summer and that was normal, so I'm a bit worried.

I was wondering if this could be early menopause.

Going to have bloods Friday

TonyThreePies · 04/01/2022 23:08

I've not had a period for about 4 months, which I put down to the menopause. My first jabs were AZ then Pfizer for my booster. Exactly a week later and I have started spotting. It's been light for a couple of days but seems to be getting heavier and more period like now. No pain at the moment though...

Earthrocknroll · 08/01/2022 06:45

Yes, severe bleeding and pain and cycle out of whack. Not normal for me at all and my daughters had similar.

Jinglebellsoncake · 08/01/2022 08:11

After my 2nd Az, I had periods every 10-14 days. Some of this was spotting. I couldn't tell if it was spotting or a period.
GP said it was definitely not linked to the vaccine 🤔🤔🤔

I was concerned so went privately.
Private US and bloods showed it was not really menopause/cancer (which was what o was concerned about)

tigerbear · 24/01/2022 22:43

Was just about to start a thread on this. Was due on my period on the 27th Dec, had my booster on the 24 Dec, and period has never appeared! I’m 44, so like PP, was wondering if it’s early menopause… who knows 🤔

W3STY17 · 26/01/2022 16:26

Sorry I haven't updated on here.
So I had a period 19/10/21 & still yet to have another one.
I am in immense amount of pain on a daily basis.
Some days like strong period pains other days like labour pains.
Gynaecologist is blaming PCOS & endometriosis but apparently I'm too over weight for surgery.
An even with surgery there is a possibility of it coming back.
I'm just so fed up now I want it all gone.
I don't want to live in daily pain.
I wondered if I'm going through something like early menopause but I am only 30 so who knows...
Don't know how it all can be dictated by age anymore???
I never had this problem up until the vaccine but I don't know if I could be that or not??
Hope your all okay xx

@W3STY17 so sorry to hear you’re feeling so bad 😔
Like you, I’ve recently been diagnosed with endemetriosis, so it might be that, but my period has never been this late, and it changed ONLY after the booster.
There’s this new report on the BBC today. Had to laugh when they confidently say that periods are only delayed by half a day to two days 🤔🤔🤔
www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-60139091

W3STY17 · 27/01/2022 10:02

@tigerbear Are they joking?? Only delayed by a day or two! Maybe they need to change that two 2-3 months! I've never been late before & have previously been told I had endometriosis before having my vaccines & my periods were okay but painful & heavy - never delayed...
No one seem to want to help or get to the bottom of it.
I've been looking into private health care now cause I just can't go on like this anymore.
The pain is horrendous 😩

tigerbear · 27/01/2022 13:21

@W3STY17 I know, it’s so ridiculous it almost laughable. I thought it was a misprint!
HALF a day late??? They’re seriously saying that women are noticing their periods are half a day late after the booster??
How is that even a thing? I mean, it’s not like periods start as soon as you wake up, on the day it’s meant to arrive! It either starts on that day or it doesn’t!

crispsarny · 27/01/2022 14:46

Typical gaslighting of women as usual, it’s sad to see others here saying it’s a relief that others are having similar problems, oh it’s just down to the vaccine, not good enough, why do women accept this shit? It’s far from fucking OK we are always fobbed off, made to feel like an inconvenience. So many women experiencing the same thing, time & time again, it’s disgusting what we have to put up with.

tigerbear · 27/01/2022 14:57

@crispsarny exactly!!!!
If men were experiencing health problems after the vaccines, eg Erectile dysfunction or something, you can bet it’d be headline news!!

Plaw · 28/01/2022 19:15

Spotting (something I’ve never had in my 37 years) has been an issue for me since July, when I had my first vaccine. Especially around the month I got the vaccine. July was also my first period since having my baby in April so it’s hard to know.

W3STY17 · 28/01/2022 19:40

@tigerbear I would have thought it was a misprint to but just goes to show.. Probably a bloke that wrote it!

@Plaw It's just so hard to know isn't it.
Nothing is set in stone with information.

So I had AZ initially and all fine. Then had the Pfizer booster late Nov and haven't had a period since. I'm 39 and have had regular (every 24 days) periods for years and years. Is there something we can do to let them know? I'd like my periods back please. I would never have had this had I known.

W3STY17 · 03/02/2022 22:21

@MrsMeanwhile
This is exactly how I feel..
Had I have known this would happen I really wouldn't have bothered..
You can submit a yellow card but I don't think that really does much it just alerts them of your side effects.
I've spoke with my GP & they dismiss the fact it could remotely be the vaccine every single time.
I'm so fed up & my body just isn't the same anymore..

OP posts:
MrsMeanwhile · 03/02/2022 22:27

What worries me is - what are the long term effects? This can't be healthy!

W3STY17 · 03/02/2022 22:45

@MrsMeanwhile
This is also a worry of mine..

No issues after the 1st dose. I had the 2nd dose on 25/08. Had heavy period September and October. Very mild spotting in November. No proper period at all. Then absolutely nothing in December. Had random mild spotting for about 3 days in Jan. Just had a US scan this week and nothing detected. Done a blood test a few weeks ago, the surgery usually sends a message asking to book an appointment for results review if they need to discuss results , but haven't heard from them. I will be calling gp next week to discuss blood test results and US scan and where my period have disappeared. It's usually dead on time. I am 42 and my mum didn't reach menopause until her mid-50s.
