Period Problems After Covid-19 Vaccines?

106 replies

W3STY17 · 11/10/2021 23:05

I know this seems to be quite common but I wanted to ask on here.

Has anyone had problems with their periods since having the covid vaccines?
If yes what problems have you had?

My periods have disappeared, LMP was 23/06/21.
I have PCOS but that's all the doctors seem to put it down to.

This isn't normal for me even with the PCOS, which I've been diagnosed for a number of years.

I have done endless pregnancy tests. Every time I speak with the doctors this is what they ask me to do? But always negative.

I've been experiencing bad stomach cramping since august.

I feel like I'm being fobbed off by the doctors.
No one seems to want to help me.

I'm booked into see a gynaecologist late November.

Is it dangerous to skip this many periods?
What'll happen when I do get a period, will it be even heavier than I normally experience?

Please be kind - I've had a bit of hate on here before & it makes me nervous to write a thread..

Have you all registered this with the yellow card scheme? That's a very important step to take.

Polyputthekettleon · 03/02/2022 23:19

Both doses were Pfizer. I am not getting the booster until a medical professional can give me a believable explanation for what's happened to my period.

BottleOfSun · 03/02/2022 23:21

My Pfizer booster made my period 3 weeks late! I have endometriosis so it was horrendous when it came Sad

mogkat · 03/02/2022 23:29

I've also had irregular periods since having the Pfizer vaccines. First was in May and second in July. I used to be regular 28/29 day cycles. Since the second jab they've been anywhere from 14 days to 65 day cycles!
My gp also dismissed the idea it was vaccine related. I've been referred to gynae but the wait is 6 months!

W3STY17 · 04/02/2022 07:50

@Polyputthekettleon
I've said exactly the same thing..
There is no way I'm having the booster until I've got some evidence what's going on..
I have had nothing since October & before October my period was June.
They have just vanished?
But the pain I'm in every day is horrible. It's like my body is wanting to have a period but nothing is happening..

@mogkat
I've also been referred to gynae with a 6 month wait but was referred in august 🤷🏻‍♀️

@MrsMeanwhile

What worries me is - what are the long term effects? This can't be healthy!
Me too.
W3STY17 · 04/02/2022 20:40

@BottleOfSun
I also have endometriosis & PCOS.
This is what the doctors keep blaming my period being delayed on but it's never been anything like this so I don't think that's the case.
I can't see how they can't take my concerns into consideration as I'm the one who knows my body the best!!!!

@PimClueff
What is hometown hero?
I'm so many months now post vaccine but still no period.
Still in immense pain on a daily basis.
No period since October.
My body isn't the same & something isn't right.
It's not good surely to go this length of time without a period?

OP posts:
MrsMeanwhile · 07/02/2022 10:08

@W3STY17 are you in the UK? NHS says to wait for 3 missed periods so could you now speak to your GP? This is what I will do next month I think.

@PimClueff also wondering what is hometown hero?!

MrsMeanwhile · 07/02/2022 10:10

@W3STY17 ah sorry just read your previous messages in that you are waiting to see Gyne. With covid(!!!) everything is being delayed and I don't think anyone cares to make this a priority!

MrsMeanwhile · 07/02/2022 10:11

I've logged this on the yellow card scheme. I think everyone should do the same.

W3STY17 · 07/02/2022 10:34

@MrsMeanwhile
Yeah I'm in the UK!
I know it's gonna be a LONG time before I see anyone!
Definitely report on yellow card.
It's so wrong we are going through this..
I've also attached a photo of my cycle log.. 😔

I will log mine too, but I suspect no-one will do anything as they want as many people vaccinated. Thought I read somewhere Pfizer are looking to have the vaccine approved for babies. I am so annoyed by all of this.

Polyputthekettleon · 07/02/2022 10:49

@W3STY17 sorry to hear you are in pain. I feel like I am having my period too, but nothing. Loads of discharge (sorry tmi)

W3STY17 · 07/02/2022 10:53

@Polyputthekettleon
Oh bless your heart, lots of love ❤️
I haven't had anything since, I used to get a thick mass of discharge around the ovulation time but I don't get anything now? So also questioning fertility?
This is all so wrong - there should have been more information of all this before having that stupid vaccine x

I am 42 and I think my periods may have been affected.

GP says it’s the start of perimenopause, but I’m hoping it’s just temporary jab-related side effects and that they’ll settle down a bit now - especially since my GP has already told me they won’t prescribe HRT (due to migraine with aura).

I am so annoyed with this. We need more evidence of what the outcome is..

Polyputthekettleon · 07/02/2022 11:03

@W3STY17 Totally agree. I hope and pray this vaccine has not messed up people's fertility. The damn cheek they have to give this dubious vaccine to children who are at a lower risk of having complications from Covid anyway , and now they want to give it to babies too, whilst ignoring womens voices Angry.

W3STY17 · 07/02/2022 11:16

@Polyputthekettleon
There is no way my daughters are having the vaccine until there is more medical evidence that it won't effect them in the long run.
I'm not having their fertility taken away from them.
Makes me so cross Angry

You probably already know this, but you need to keep a careful eye out for signs of low estrogen (hot flushes, night sweats etc) and get yourself onto HRT if it drops to below-normal levels. Low estrogen at your age is very problematic for future bone health.

I’m still clinging onto the hope that these are transient changes. I know peri menopause isn’t unheard of at 42, but I am otherwise in good shape and no family history etc.

Polyputthekettleon · 07/02/2022 11:29

@W3STY17 I reckon that's the angle the medical professionals will take , they'll probably say it's peri/menopause and there is "no proven link between the vaccine and period/fertility" . I wouldn't get my dd vaccinated either. Poxy vaccines.
