We need to talk about Kevin. That book totally threw me for six when I read it.

Agree!

I just read a lovely book called The Reading List which had a few unexpected things happen - really nice read.

Fingersmith. I absolutely didn't see the first twist coming. Great book.

Totally agree

If you haven't read Agatha Christie's The Murder of Roger Ackroyd then you're in for a treat....

Unless you think it from the start....

Fingersmith - did not see that coming!

Auntpodder · 11/02/2023 22:25

Very much placemarking - but loved My Sister is a Serial killer

I came on to say this!

Ruth Jones' latest one. Can't remembering the name - lovely twist at the end

IWasFunBeforeMum · 11/02/2023 22:31

The couple at number 9 and Last seen alive - Claire Douglas

I'm sorry, but this a) had a 'twist' I saw in a iou chapter 3 and b) was one of the most repugnant books I've ever read. Hate would be too slight a word for what I felt. (I could say a lot more but it would definitely ruin it for anyone who does want to read it!)

Ha! I enjoyed it. Looking forward to the movie.

pennysays · 12/02/2023 01:04

Eileen - Ottessa moshfegh , I listened to the audio book and the narration was excellent and I absolutely did not see the end coming.

Lies by t m Logan (what if you whole
life was based on lies)

RaininginDarling · 12/02/2023 01:24

God in Ruins by Kate Atkinson.

The last third blew my mind. I still think about it
years later

Read Life After Life first though.

yasnayapolyana · 13/02/2023 18:18

Golden Hill by Francis Spufford. A brilliant twist and a profound one! This book is one of my favourites. Witty, fast-paced, sharp and entertaining. Still waiting for it to be turned into a film.

We are all completely besides ourselves.....

The best book and I've passed it on to so many people

I didn’t enjoyed this book and was really annoyed at the twist.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 13/02/2023 18:27

Klara and the sun
brilliant twist

LozzaChops101 · 13/02/2023 18:28

Another one for Fingersmith here!

StillSmallVoice · 13/02/2023 18:30

The Editor's Wife by Clare Chambers, or Lessons in Chemistry

beguilingeyes · 13/02/2023 18:31

A Kiss Before Dying by Ira Levin, who also wrote Rosemary's Baby and The Stepford Wives. The twist comes midway through the book and is really shocking.
More recently Tamar by Mal Peet. The ending turns everything you thought about the book upside down.

Bionesque · 13/02/2023 18:32

Atonement

stayathomer · 13/02/2023 18:33

Anything by Kathryn Croft, B A Paris or Andrea Mara ! (All thrillers all amazing at ‘no way!’ moments! Oh and Gone girl if you’ve never read or seen the movie!
