Blood Orange

It's the best book I've ever read.

Following for suggestions but also, I don't know that it really counts as a thriller but I recently read Conviction by Denise Mina and isn't she a breath of fresh for good writing!

DogsAndGin · 09/07/2022 16:08

I came here to say ‘Blood Orange’ and can see someone has already said it. I loved it too!

Fearless9286 · 09/07/2022 16:16

The Nothing Man by Catherine Ryan Howard, I read on prime reading for free and it was brilliant!

Pkwq · 09/07/2022 16:20

Helen Fields series. Brilliant.

More haunted spooky than thriller (but thrilling none the less) is Dark Matter by Michelle paver

justbesensible · 09/07/2022 16:28

Blood orange - a great read.

NeedToKnow101 · 09/07/2022 16:35

I found I am Pilgrim extremely gripping.

KarrotKake · 09/07/2022 16:36

James Sumner has a series based on a character called Adrian Hell, which I love. The first is True Conviction. He is one of the few authors I actively buy rather than wait for them to be super cheep or free on a kindle.

The Huntress by Kate Quinn. I was sceptical when a neighbour passed it over, but I couldn't put it down, neither could DH, two friends, Dad and sister.

FancyFelix · 09/07/2022 16:38

American dirt - Jeanine Cummins

70kid · 09/07/2022 16:40

@NeedToKnow101
I read that book when it was first released and it’s one of my favourites so many twist and turns but then bits of human stuff as well I sat up all night till 5am and read it it one go

I think the writer wrote or directed one of the mad max films or something 😂

I might actually start reading it again

Really liked heatwave, thought three hours was ok!

The Flower Girls by Alice Clark-Platts

Night Heron by Adam Brookes and sequels Spy Games and The Spy's Daughter- as good as I am Pilgrim in my view. Also Garden of Beasts Jeffrey Deaver and Down River John Hart

I like the ones by Jean Christophe Grangé, many are available in English and look at things from the darker side of life - the one about negative near death expériences had me reading until 3am to find a safe place to stop.

What was the name of the book about near death experiences?

The Burning Air by Erin Kelly. The twist is incredible!

rocketfromthecrypt · 10/07/2022 08:40

Rubbernecker by Belinda Bauer. A bit different and extremely good.

Agree re: Dark Matter - also Thin Air by Michelle Paver, which is exceptional.

The Mermaids Singing by Val McDermid.

The Simon Serrailer series by Susan Hill.

The Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith.

LlamaGiles · 10/07/2022 08:43

The Dry by Jane Harper is fantastic.

wingliner · 10/07/2022 15:25

@DogsAndGin it's a great read isn't it???

Chazzagirl2 · 10/07/2022 15:42

I’m currently reading Playing Nice by JP Delaney and it’s great so far (I’m about 3/4 of way through).

Also, if you like police detective-murdery-type-things, Mark Bellingham is always an excellent read.

I love all her books. After the fall has a great twist too.
