Sorry, I meant Mark Billingham, not Bellingham.

Second the suggestion of The Huntress by Kate Quinn. It’s really good and very gripping.

zurala · 16/07/2022 13:35

Anything by Alex Marwood

Wolfiefan · 16/07/2022 13:39

I’m partway through a Belinda Bauer. The facts of life and death. It’s gripping and brilliant so far.

Try the series of books by Donato Carrisi. I mention them as (mostly) a series because you don't want to read the series out of order. They are the scariest, deepest thrillers I have ever read. I totally can't put them down.

The Lost Man by Jane Harper. Atmospheric, tense, very well written. It's set in Australia, and she writes so well about the land, and the climate.

stayathomer · 03/08/2022 21:52

Yup I’d agree with Jane Harper, also Andrea Mara and Jo Spain

heronsinflight · 04/08/2022 21:43

Old, but Raymond Chandler was a hell of a writer.

I enjoyed the ones I've read so far except the back story really began to annoy me. Has it yet been resolved or is it still dragging on?

Alex Marwood writes brilliantly. Anything by her is worth reading. Same with Belinda Bauer - really good thriller writer.

Tana French is good.

I like Kate atkinson's Jackson Brodie series but they are not conventional thrillers.

For really fast paced twisty books, I enjoyed Tell No One by Harlen Coben and No Time For Goodbye by Linwood Barclay. Not great literature but brilliant page turners. The alphabet series by Sue Grafton is addictive too.

Tinarose21 · 05/08/2022 07:38

The Castaways- Lucy Clarke
Just My luck - Adele Parks

lemons44 · 05/08/2022 08:07

I didn't enjoy Blood Orange.

Some of the ones I've enjoyed recently:

Magpie by Elizabeth Day
The guest list by Lucy Foley
The hunting party by Lucy Foley
The holiday by T M Logan
Just my luck by Adele Parks
The wedding by Ruth Heald

Username2101 · 05/08/2022 12:20

I've really enjoyed Chris Carters books.

SpringSpringTime · 05/08/2022 12:21

You’ve probably read it, but Rebecca

beguilingeyes · 12/08/2022 13:10

Tamar by Mal Peet
A Kiss Before Dying - Ira Levin...or anything by Ira Levin really. The Stepford Wives and Rosemary's Baby are both superb.

justasking111 · 12/08/2022 13:17

Jake Needham is an author to check out

Wildehorses · 12/08/2022 13:24

Another vote for American Dirt, you will literally want to shut the world out and keep reading from page one. Sooooo good.

KimWexlersPonyTail · 12/08/2022 13:50

The kind worth killing for by Peter Swanson

The house of correction by Nicci French

We know you know by Erin Kelly

The other passenger by Loise Candlish

The book of you by Clair Kendal

MoonBat · 12/08/2022 13:58

Blood Orange was brilliant but I thought the other one by the same author was a bit meh, it's called It Ends At Midnight or something.
Blood Sugar by Sascha Rothschild is great, although less of a thriller exactly.
The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley was fantastic.
Also really enjoying books by Alice Feeney (Rock Paper Scissors is my favourite so far), Gillian McAllister and Teresa Driscoll. Adele Parks has written some thrillers recently but I haven't enjoyed them as much as her romances, I've guessed the "twists" almost immediately which makes it less fun.

MoonBat · 12/08/2022 13:59

Also going to be checking out a lot of these suggestions! My kindle is going to be packed...

MoonBat · 13/08/2022 11:31

I have just read Heatwave by Kate Riordan, as recommended by some on here, and loved it! Very suspenseful and beautifully written. Similar to The Push in terms of subject matter, and I really enjoyed both.
