Definitely Jo Nesbo - the Harry Hole series. They're great!

I really enjoy the books by Matt Wesolowski, begins with six stories. It's written from the point of view of a true crime podcast, I really enjoy them!

I know I'm rather late to the party but I've recently discovered the cormoran strike series and also think that they're excellent.

I also love Rebecca by Daphne de Maurier.

Anything by Alex Marwood. All of hers are brilliant

Not well known in England although huge in Europe - Donato Carrisi. THere's a series so start with The Whisperer. And make sure your doors and windows are locked, there's a light on, and a baseball bat under the bed - he knows how to scare the shit out of people!

I agree. She really can write and she has wicked insight into the psychology of the criminal mind. And a very wicked sense of humour.

I am so glad I found this thread. I recently read Blood Orange and American Dirt whilst on holiday and mentioned to the friend I thought recommended them and they denied it. It must have been this thread that I grabbed the titles from. I enjoyed BO but absolutely loved American Dirt, thanks so much for the recommendation.

Reginald Hill’s Death of a Dormouse, The Only Game, The Woodcutter.
Philip Kerr’s A Philosophical Investigation and his Bernie Guenther series - the first is The March Violets.
Robert Harris’ Fatherland, Pompeii.
Monstrum by Donald James.
Gorky Park by Martin Cruz Smith.
