Anyone else started running when overweight?

I weigh 11st and have just started running. I'm on week 3 of a running programme and I'm really enjoying it.

I am doing this as I need to lose weight and get fitter.

Has anyone else done this?
Did you lose lots of weight and did you manage to lose the baby belly through running alone?

Good luck with atkins, I did have some success with it in the past, but struggled a bit with varying my food and ended up gettng bored. I find with GoLower it is easier as the menu is really varied and the food delicious, I don't have to think about food anymore I just eat what is delivered. I know it sounds a bit lazy but life is so busy looking after 2 DC I can at least focus on them.
I use the Davina power of 3 DVD, it is in sections, warm up, legs&bums, upper body, abs, and cool down. You can do it all takes just over an hour, or the warm up and cool down with just one or more of the sections in between. I am quite enjoying it and have noticed a difference already. Can't do it with the kids about though I have to do it when they are in bed.
Haven't heard of British Military Fitness, it sounds really hard. How much is it?

Welcome Riven, I don't wear trainers when I do my DVD but have been advised that it is a must to have the correct trainers for road running. I went to my local shop and got some Nike ones that were a little bit expensive, but with the weight I have to loose I was worried I might cause an injury if I didn't get the right sort....
What diet are you trying?

Thank goodness for this thread. Have been meaning to start and putting it off for ages. No excuse - live somewhere I can run in country side straight from the door. But I often here a glass of wine calling me. I have three stone to lose. I will keep come back here and being inspired by you all. And Eddie Izzard.

Hi

Is the Couch to 5K a training programme? Sounds perfect.

mybabyweightiseightyearsold · 12/04/2012 10:05

I am going TODAY to get trainers and a bra. Apparently, this involves being videoed on a treadmill. Allegedly, it's only my feet that will be filmed - but, I suspect there's a hidden camera with a feed to the staff rooom so they can have a right good laugh at the big, fat, wobblies lumping along...

After first going on a diet (25 years ago) I have successfully gained three stones. Go me.

Question - there are about eleventy billion C25K downloads - I have read there's some which have music already put on them and it's paced to the programme, so, slower when you walk, faster when you run.

Anyone have a link to where to find it?

It's really inspiring to read your progress on here.

Am shitting myself. Not in a Paula Radcliffe way, either....

I use the NHS c25K podcasts and find them very helpful. lost a lot of weight last year just by doing this and was much more toned. Weigh over 12 stone now and have just started again. hate the way everything wobbles when I jog but I WILL do this!
