1st March - Time for a new thread

We can now forget/capitalise on the first two difficult months. The lighter mornings are upon us, soon the sun will be shining more and more and it will become warmer. Time to start thinking about the spring wardrobe...

Come on ladies, lets go for it, Summer will be here before we know it, and we want to enjoy it don't we?

I have copied the stats from the last weigh in, I have put the Jan start weight first, and the last weight that was posted, so update as necessary I have taken off a couple of people I haven't seen in a while, apologies if you are still checking, please say hello and add yourself to the stats again, as well as anyone else who would like to join.

JKS why are you weighing yourself everyday you are always going to fluctuate like that. I am really thinking about investing in a wii thing.. kids can use it and so can we.

chipmonkey · 11/03/2009 01:14

I agree. Better to leave it to once a week and then at the same time. I still find if I'm premenstrual that I tend to stay the same that week and not lose anything. Oddly enough, it doesn't seem to work out that I lose more the next week.

JustKeepSwimming · 11/03/2009 08:07

i don't tend to weigh myself every day really. and tues is normally a def non-weigh day (if that makes sense) as i'm rushing out the door to orchestra after boys bedtime & i've eaten tea with them so that normally throws off my Wii weight as i normally do it before eating dinner).
but i was messing about upstairs on the scales while they were in the bath and it was soooo good to see a weight (with clothes + tea) that was lower than my weight just a few weeks ago that i thought i'd test the Wii.
My BMI went down to its lowest (21.98) so even though i'd eaten i weighed marginally less than Mon

anyway, that's a lot of waffle from me, sorry!

Healthy eating vibes to all

mixedmamameansbusiness · 11/03/2009 09:19

I always jump on my bathroom scales but they are so inaccurate. I keep my special WW digital scale in my wardrobe so that i dont jump on all the time otherwise i would be on it everytime i enter the bathroom

LisaLessLumpy · 11/03/2009 10:54

That's why I have got DH to hide mine, I was becoming too focused on what they were saying rather than how I feel.

Measured myself today, not lost any weight or any inches even though I have exercised every day for three weeks

If I haven't lost a decent amount by the time I get my scales back on April 11th, I'm off to the docs for a thyroid test!

Not sure what else to do, I can never seem to get below 11 stone even though I am at least a stone and a half overweight

I am getting seriously disillusioned but need to try and carry on before I start putting weight on again.

Congrats to all of you that are still losing, keep up the good work

OP posts:
countesscaloriecounter · 11/03/2009 13:44

I totally agree about the bathroom scales. I have to force myself not to get on them other than on my weigh in day otherwise I end up thoroughly depressed and feel like giving up because it doesn't show any losses, and in some cases has shown a gain.

I've been exercising like mad but I really think this is the week when I wont have lost an ounce as I was so bad at the weekend. I ate like food was going out of fashion. As a result I am extremely annoyed with myself, and vowing not to make the same mistake this weekend.

countesscaloriecounter · 11/03/2009 13:46

Oh and Lisa stick at it, I'm sure it will come off soon. You are so close to that 10st something goal. It's so hard though when you haven't cheated and done everything you should have and the weight stays the same.

chipmonkey · 11/03/2009 18:23

Lisa, do you check your portion sizes? I find if I am too complacent about that I tend to hit a plateau.

LisaLessLumpy · 11/03/2009 20:35

Yup, I weigh and calorie count everything, eat mainly veg with dinner rather than rice or pasta or potato, have cut my bread intake down. I Drink skimmed milk and use low fat spread all the time, and use the low fat/calorie version of most things. I tend to snack a lot though rather than eat proper meals Other than the odd night when entertaining I don't have more than 1500 calories a day, it usually settles around the 1200-1400 mark.

Over the last three weeks I have done a minimum of 20 mins (usually 40 mins) on the XT on top of usual daily activities. Not sure what else I can do

I am just hoping that by the 11th of April my body will have got used to the extra exercise and I will have a pleasant surprise

OP posts:
chipmonkey · 11/03/2009 21:48

In that case I would get the thyroid checked out. Do you have any other symptoms? Fatigue, odd menstrual cycle, lank hair, irritability? Memory loss?

LisaLessLumpy · 12/03/2009 08:19

I always feel tired, but that goes without saying with two little ones... I bloat very easily, one drink and breakfast can make me look 6 months pregnant again Not sure about periods as I have the coil and don't have them now, so never sure when one would have been due.

I was reading up on the exercise front and it reckons it can take a few weeks before your body sorts itself out to the new regime. So I am going to be positive for the next three weeks till I weigh in, if nothing has really changed I can go to the docs armed with the exercise I have done and the food I have eaten.

If nothing else at least my health will be better

Just checking in. How's everyone doing? We all sticking to it?
Popping on bike in a bit in a last ditch desperate attempt to shift a bit of the flab before weigh in tomorrow.

Just had a Weight Watchers tagliatelle bolognese which was very tasty.

countesscaloriecounter · 13/03/2009 08:56

Well, just weighed and I haven't lost anything, and stayed the same. All my own fault so far more focused this week.
I have lost another inch off hips and boobs so not all bad but I desperately want to get to the 10 stone something mark. Aiming for that next week.

All the best to the rest of you who are weighing in today.

JustKeepSwimming · 13/03/2009 12:40

Inches are good Countess

upstairs scales said 9....0 this morning though i expect that will show as 9,2 by this evening on the Wii. but exciting to see nonetheless.
can't wait for the first 8-something!

Talking of inches, have measured myself every now and then, biggest measurement was back in Jun 2008.

waist 35 hips 43

Today:

waist 29.5 hips 36

= -5.5 & -7

PollyGarter · 13/03/2009 13:42

I was gone for a whole.. er.. just a few days really, a week?... Amazing how lack of a tinternet connection can feel like a holiday.

I haven't caught up on the thread yet, as the router has only just been replaced for the computer

i'm running round like a headless chook for the next couple of days with guests and family and justabout everything, and need to get a move on NOW with getting the place in order... (i'm procrastinating - but will not get sucked into mumnet or i'll never recover!!!)

Anyway... i've fallen off the wagon... but will climb on again on sunday, when i can breathe again...

Will catch up and read soon.

Keep up the good work, Beauties!

countesscaloriecounter · 13/03/2009 15:31

JKS thanks for the encouragement.
Your inch loss statistics are very impressive. You must look like a totally different person now! Well Done.

Polly Good to see you back.

Is it just me, or does it seem very quiet on the thread lately?

LisaLessLumpy · 13/03/2009 17:14

It has gone quiet.

I am still here, still plodding towards my next weigh-in, hopefully with a decent loss

I actually feel a little better today, I feel like I may have lost a pound or two, whether or not I have doesn't matter I suppose if I feel better!

OP posts:
chipmonkey · 13/03/2009 19:16

Not sure if I've had a good week. I had a trip to the cinema and had too much popcorn and then had a lunch in Pizza hut. So we shall see tomorrow!

lexcat · 14/03/2009 11:10

Bit of a mixed week the down side is gained 1 1/4 lbs mind haven't been able to run due to injury. I have instead been doing lots of toning exercises plus brought Davina's DVD and followed that. It felt quite easy but the next day I was sore the best bit was aches in places I never felt aches. My thinking is it got to all the muscles that really need the work.

Measured myself and down an 1in on both my waist and hips. So thats the up side. Just made a spreadsheet for measurments as well.

Shame there was a weight gain but still down 3 1/2 lbs for my first month and it was me trying to get fitter that started this whole weigh loss thing off for me. Yes I'm fitter but I'm really starting to feel thing like my tummy and bum been much tighter and toned. Which was my main target for the new year.

JustKeepSwimming · 14/03/2009 11:59

Lexcat - that all sounds very positive. and you will have muscle mass gain with all the exercise so the weight loss will slow.

Countess - thanks! i prefer to think that i look like the 'real' me and i was just a 'fat'-me for a while.

Well, the Wii showed 9,1 last night and this morning on the upstairs scales was......

8,13,8

(yes it measures ounces too!)

Bizarrely the Wii said i have 7lbs to lose not 8 (target is 8,7) so think it must have been on the low side of 9,1.

Starving now though, so off for a healthy lunch

countesscaloriecounter · 14/03/2009 13:35

Lexcat It's great that you have the goal of fitness uppermost in your mind.It sounds like you're really focused and heading in the right direction.

Chipmonkey let us know how you get on with the weight loss. Popcorn and pizza sound like my idea of heaven! Yum!

JKS Excellent news on the 8st 13,8 weight. ( countess trying very hard not to be consumed with envy)

Lisa glad you're still here and keeping to it in spite of the frustrations you've had. I bet you'll have a good loss on your next weigh in.

Hello to anyone else out there still battling on.

I've just done an hour on the bike so I'm feeling very virtuous at the moment. I'm trying very hard to be good this weekend as usually weekends are when I mess up. So fingers crossed I will keep up the good work and show a decent loss on Friday.

lexcat · 14/03/2009 15:28

Thanks for the positive encouragement it really is great when I have a long way to go to get to my target weight. But keeping my fitness on target helps me as my weight doesn?t fit in the picture of the new fitter me. Plus as it's running I've taken up carrying 7+ stone excess really makes the running that much harder.

Never really seen my weight as a problem as till about 15 years old I was a bean pole. It's taken 20 years and one child to get to the weight I am now. What I don't like is when my fitness levels let me down when out with dd playing, running cycling swimming which is starting was happening more often as she gets older.

chipmonkey · 14/03/2009 19:57

Popcorn and Pizza bad for weightloss! No downward trend this week.. But dh says I look thinner so I am choosing to believe him!

I checked the scales 3 times when I weighed mtself this week as I couldn't believe it.
JKS It's very encouraging reading your size decrease. My waist is around 35" now. I am going to start crunches on monday to attack my saggy baby pouch.
I'm feeling positive about the summer now.
