1st March - Time for a new thread

We can now forget/capitalise on the first two difficult months. The lighter mornings are upon us, soon the sun will be shining more and more and it will become warmer. Time to start thinking about the spring wardrobe...

Come on ladies, lets go for it, Summer will be here before we know it, and we want to enjoy it don't we?

I have copied the stats from the last weigh in, I have put the Jan start weight first, and the last weight that was posted, so update as necessary I have taken off a couple of people I haven't seen in a while, apologies if you are still checking, please say hello and add yourself to the stats again, as well as anyone else who would like to join.

Well, all I can say is 'I love my exercise bike' as that is the ONLY reason I have lost weight this week. Down another 2lbs which is a miracle. It's just emphasising to me the importance of exercise.

We'll get there ladies. Now I just have to concentrate on not being a pig all weekend to celebrate.

Oh and Wintersun, with all that exercise you are probably building up muscle which is why its not showing on the scales. I bet if you measured you'd see the difference.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 06/03/2009 09:22

Morning everyone

In an incrdibly good mood today....

i lost 5 lbs

I was very good at the weekend even tho i did eat out and have stuck to my points every weekday. Had my walk/run on Sunday, walk with polly on tuesday and was sooo pleased this morning walked from Euston to Bond Street... very very pleased.

Am only counting points till dinner today as DH cooking and he isnt very good at the low fat cooking so will just have a bowl of prawn biryani.

Am going to catch up now but just couldnt wait to share.

JustKeepSwimming · 06/03/2009 09:30

Well done Mixedm !!!!

Countess - well done you too! do you use your bike lots then? can't imagine i would, too lazy

Wintersun - good luck with juicing, i know i couldn't do anything that didn't involve real food!

DH made scrambled eggs & sausages for breakfast, i just had one sausage and no egg + my normal couple of brazil nuts so been good so far.
Have a GoAhead bar & satsumas in bag for playgroup to resist biscuits....

countesscaloriecounter · 06/03/2009 13:41

Wow Mixedmama that is a fantastic weight loss! Excellent.

JKS When I know I've been bad I use the bike a lot more. I use it each afternoon for between 30 and 40 mins when I put ds down for his nap and again in the evening for about the same length of time. If I really go for it I can burn between 400 and 500 cals at a time, I really have to force myself to get on it sometimes though.

LisaLessLumpy · 06/03/2009 14:39

Wow mixedmama that is awesome

I really hope I show a loss this week, but I can't complain if not seeing as I dropped 5lb last week

I think I need to do more exercise on the XT too, try and make it an hour a day, but sometimes it is just too hard to fit in

I am in a right snacky mood today even though I am trying to keep myself busy with household chores. I have had 5 biscuits I waS SUPPOSED TO HAVE GIVEN THEM UP FOR LENT oops!

Lisa - I am the same I have a bike sometimes I try and geton with the kids around and DS2 who is 1 just tries to touch the wheels and DS1 likes to think that the moment i get on he should decide that he is hungry. Well done on your 5lb, was so shocked this morning when i saw it nearly fell off the scales.

Countess - need some of your motivation to get on the bike... altho have been doing loads of walking.

JustKeepSwimming · 06/03/2009 20:15

Boo hiss, 9,4 on Wii Fit tonight - though i'd had a glass of wine pre-DC-bedtime & a friend brought round millionaire's shortbread this afternoon and i had a bit.

the little things add up....

LisaLessLumpy · 06/03/2009 20:36

mixedmama - that sounds exactly like my two boys

I managed an hour on the XT tonight, got DH to keep them occupied, I'm bloody knackered now though

Thanks for all your birthday wishes

Bugger Arse Bugger Arse

Last week my scales weighed 11st 2 exactly, this morning it says 11st 3.8

Looks like I need to keep my calories lower than 1450 and keep up the exercise

I know I said I wouldn't get upset, but I thought I would at least stay the same, not put on.

LisaLessLumpy · 07/03/2009 07:16

Oh and I'm not updating my stats with a gain I don't deserve, so will wait to see what next week brings

OP posts:
lexcat · 07/03/2009 08:26

Sorry to hear some of you have not had such a good week. Fingerscross with spring and summer round the corner things might start looking up.

I've lost 2lbs this week, biggest weight lost so far. But as I've only just started it still a very long way to go.
So far Week 1 1 1/4lb
Week 2 1 3/4
This week 2lbs

I've made up a spreadsheet to show my lost and on the graph put intervals of stones seeing the line fall is great. Fingers crossed I can make it 2lbs next week to take me to my first 1/2 stone.

Excellent mixedmama same as what I've managed in my first 3 weeks you did in a week.

Wintersun · 07/03/2009 13:28

Well done Mixedmama! Good loss!

Sorry to hear about your gain Lisa. I feel your pain! You may have put on muscle with all that exercise or it may be water retention?

Lexcat, I would love to do that running program but the only time I get to exercise is in the eves when dh gets back or on weekends. I really don't want to go out in the dark eves on my own. I may give it a go once we get more light.

I went to the gym this morning and got one of the instructers to weigh and measure me.
Since Feb 7, I have lost 4lbs, 1" off my hips and waist, 1/2" off my bust and upper arms and 0 off my thighs (she said they're always the last to go!) It doesn't seem like much, I know but I'm thrilled because every week I've weighed myself and have not shown a loss so I started getting really down about how I wasn't getting anywhere! Atleast now I knopw, I am

Keep going everyone!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 07/03/2009 15:28

Joint our local leaisure centre gym today. Turns out we could join for FREE and use it for FREE as we get a (very small) amoutn of Working Tax Credit but it would seem this has its benefits.. i had wondered what the point of the WTC was in our case as it is hardly anything, but FREE gym is clearly the reason Induction tomorrow.

JustKeepSwimming · 07/03/2009 18:58

Not getting on the Wii tonight as we all shared an Easter Egg earlier

Out for dinner tonight too, with wine, so doubt that'll be any good for my numbers!

Jack2601 · 07/03/2009 19:38

Hi all,

I'm new to Mumsnet so still finding my feet - can I gatecrash this thread?

Our beautiful son was born at 33wks by emergency CS nearly 6wks ago. He is now out of hospital, home with us and I am trying to get back to some normality and I want to shift some of my baby weight sooner rather than later (if I don't start as I mean to go on I'll never bother!!).

Initially I'll be doing Weight Watchers and then after my post-natal check (19th March) I'll hopefully be joining our gym if I get the green light. Obviously gonna start off with very light exercise and then take it from there, depending on how I feel.

I currently weigh 10st 4lb and pre-pg I was 9st 2lb but would love to get to 8st 10lb.

LisaLessLumpy · 08/03/2009 07:55

Hi Jack, of course you can join in.

I am very envious that your post pregnancy weight is the weight I would like to be

tessieb · 08/03/2009 08:57

Morning everyone - and welcome to Jack2601.

Well, good news - I've lost 1.5lbs this week which is right on target. So, the grand total now is 6.5 lbs since I started WLR 3 weeks ago, but actually 8 lbs since the beginning of January. That's over half a stone!!!

I've used the Wii fitness coach 4 times this week and really like it. I did a 45 minute cardio and flexibility session, and Maya (the cyber coach!) made me work hard! I find it better than doing exercise DVDs as it's so varied.

Have a good week everyone.

Hello All and New Howdy and Congratulations to Jack2601 - take it easy on yourself!

I'm feeling very old of late, with my back creaking and cracking with every movement... methinks the physio has made it worse
So my walking has gone down to bare minimum of movement. it's more like the spd shuffle i used to do when preggers. I've been doing half hour free downloads of pilates from itunes from the podcasts and my front is sore from all those mini muscles getting a workout. Grumble grumble grumble... I have to have an iron clad core next time i see the physio to convince her i do not need anymore karate chops to my pelvis! So i've been doing core exercises every half hour or so.

JKS sounds like you deserved a little R&R - hope you had a lovely night out!

Mixedmama - what a score on the gym! How great is that! Hope you had an enjoyable induction. I always want to be naughty with inductions as generally the instructors seem a little bored and i always have an urge to play up... though i don't. It's probably only me...! And blow me over 5lbs! That's all right isn't it.

Lisa are you wearing different clothing when you're weighing yourself? Diff time of day/ after drinking 4 pints of water etc... so many things can add a pound or two - i bet you, under different circumstances earlier or later in the day you would have been either the same or under your previous weight. As Wintersun says - best thing would be if it's gained muscle mass! I'm sure you'll see a nice surprise next week.

Those measurements are great Wintersun! Glad to see you chuffed! That's a lot of slimming down in a month. How did the juicing diet go? Thanks for the encouragement with the pilates. It's not so bad ... i think i'll have to go to tai chi to get the hippy aspect of yoga though. (your yoda/yoga mistype was apt for my lentil weaving tendencies)

Good going lexcat! 2lbs is great. It's really nice to see losses on a spreadsheet all tallied up smiling back at you!

That bike is brilliant for you Countess! Well done on your 2lbs!

Nice work Tessieb, the WLR/Wii combo seems great for you.

Happy Sunday Y'all!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 08/03/2009 11:24

Welcome Jack.... congrats on your new arrival and take it easy but a big welcome.

well done to everyone.

Lisa - I always weigh myself on Friday morning before getting ready so am always in my PJs and havent eaten yet.

Polly - sorry about the physio seemingly making things a little worse really... no walking this week then.

Sorry for no more personals.. brain like a sieve.

Off to induction in a bit woo hoo.

PollyGarter · 08/03/2009 11:29

They really don't like it when you start playing with the free weights... goan...!

chipmonkey · 08/03/2009 11:53

Love your name PollyGarter!

Wintersun · 08/03/2009 14:17

Hello Jack. Everyone here is lovely and supportive (as well as giving you a kick if you need it )

Aaah, poor you Polly. Your back sounds terrible. Hope you get back to normal asap.

Good news about the gym Mixedmama. Are you going to go to any classes? I can really recommend spinning/aerobiking if they do them!

I'm going to do the juice diet from tomorrow but I will have an evening meal every day. I'm just having to juice for the day and am only doing it til friday. I've done it before and I did lose 4-5lbs doing that.

LisaLessLumpy · 08/03/2009 17:09

I weigh myself first thing on a saturday morning absolutely starkers so I know that it is pure me weight. I really hope next week shows a loss.

I did 40 mins yesterday, but then had friends round and had a dinner party, I cooked healthy stuff though and all day I had 2250 calories in total.

I have done a futher hour on the XT today which has burned off 600 calories. No matter what program I do I am generally burning off 100 calories per 10 min sessions.

I am going to have another week on 1400-1500 calories but if nothing has shifted by Saturday I will have to reduce my calories again and see what happens. I so want to be 10 stone something by the 11 April, it should be bloody easy enough to do
