1st March - Time for a new thread

We can now forget/capitalise on the first two difficult months. The lighter mornings are upon us, soon the sun will be shining more and more and it will become warmer. Time to start thinking about the spring wardrobe...

Come on ladies, lets go for it, Summer will be here before we know it, and we want to enjoy it don't we?

I have copied the stats from the last weigh in, I have put the Jan start weight first, and the last weight that was posted, so update as necessary I have taken off a couple of people I haven't seen in a while, apologies if you are still checking, please say hello and add yourself to the stats again, as well as anyone else who would like to join.

morning, sorry to hear you're feeling crap countess. it is hard - but look at what you have achieved in terms of total weight loss - amazing. You should be proud of yourself because if you hadn't initially got off your backside and done it, then you'd still weigh much more. how about setting yourself another interim goal...like 'I have to be 10. 7lbs by the end of June' or something like that...or maybe enter a 5k race? or maybe buy a gorgeous dress that's a bit too tight and force yourself to get into it?!

I fear I may start to flag a bit so I am setting myself the goal of being 10.12 lbs (or under!!) by the end of May. And I still keep checking my BMI - which is still around the 28 mark. I won't stop until it's under 25 as I just don't want to be statistically overweight anymore. My last pregnancy - I was classified as obese and had to have diabetes tests etc...and I just felt quite ashamed that I should be putting my health (and baby's)in jeopardy by being greedy!

Good luck - it's hard but it's worth it x

luckymoray · 27/04/2009 09:24

PS. Please don't do Atkins. You can do it without that. Everyone I know who has done it puts the weight back on.

countesscaloriecounter · 27/04/2009 09:51

Thanks for the lovely supportive post Lucky.
I am back on track today and I agree about Atkins. I did it about 5 years ago and lost a lot of weight but it all went back on and some more on top of that when I stopped. Slow and steady is the way to go and I will keep on with it.

LisaLessLumpy · 29/04/2009 06:34

Hi ladies.

Just checking in, sorry I have been away but I am still trying to stay on track and keep myself up to date with all your happening.

I saw the doc last tuesday and had blood taken for a thyroid test on friday. The doctor thinks its highly unlikely to be a problem with that though, but at least she let me get the test done to put my mind at rest. I have been told they will ring me if it shows any problems, but if all stays quiet it means there is no thyroid problem.

Doc was very understanding and told me to up the exercise to at least an hour at a time. She said the first 30mins only burns off carbs and any time after that works on the fat, so that is my next goal. Not managed to get into that regime yet though as haven't been too well, plus my boys have had one sickness after another and won't let me do an hour of exercise and I am just to tired after they have gone to bed.

She also offered me some diet pills ones that stop the body from taking in fat, so that if you do eat anything too fatty your body gets rid of it almost straight away iyknwim I thought I may as well give them a try but they can't seem to get a hold of them at the moment, so in the meantime I am re-evaluating my food consumption.

I am back to about 1250 calories whilst not exercising but I am making myself eat three proper meals a day instead of the grazing I was getting into the habit of. As she re-iterated what my mum had said about my body not knowing when its next meal would appear, that it needed consistency, so that is what I am doing at the moment. I am biting the bullet and weighing myself again on Saturday as that will have been 10 days of consistency, and will see what happens.

Sorry to have rambled on

Great work to all you ladies that are still losing and sympathy to those who are experiencing what I am, its bloody tough isn't it?

Hi everyone.
I have been so rubbish lately its been one thing after another which is why I've not been on this thread much.

I joined a local Rosemary Connelly class. I thought it was a good class and the exercise bit was very good. I went on Saturday and I could still feel my stomach muscles yesterday!

Lisa - I am really shocked that the dr offered you diet pills! You're hardly at risk of any medical problems due to your weight. You're not that big!

Hope we're all finding the motivation we need to keep going.

luckymoray · 30/04/2009 10:06

dear all - crap week with DD1 really poorly and i twisted my ankle so can't run. BUT good week for weight loss as I have been determined not to let lack of exercise hamper my progress. Have lost 4 pounds in past 2 weeks, but I know these have been stressful weeks and I've dropped as a result. So my aim is to at least maintain this for a week or so and not go back up. Off away for the weekend tonight so I need to be strong...hope you're all well and have lovely bank holidays.

I think RC classes do sound really good Wintersun. Anything that makes you do tummy exercises has to be a good thing, I hate them but I know they are exactly what I need to do!

Evening all, had stressful few weeks with a break-in & ds2 having 2 unexplained fits &
anyway, have been good-ish but a few chip shop visits & takeaways when things have got in the way of meals mean i'm still 8,12.

hoping life will calm down and i can shift those last few pounds!

JustKeepSwimming · 01/05/2009 21:00

MAS - internet probs?

KatieStar - yes they took 2 laptops but nothing else, i disturbed them (didn't see them thank goodness).
was scary but overtaken by ds2's fits/health issues so not so bothered by it now!

diet to pot - cream with crumble - oops mean crumble with cream! and lots of wine
soddit.

countesscaloriecounter · 02/05/2009 09:32

So sorry to hear of your troubles JKS. How worrying for you.

Don't blame you for eating crumble with cream and wine. A diet would be the last thing on my mind. Hope you enjoyed every mouth and glass full.

Well done to those of you still losing weight. I am trying to get re motivated and I've not been too bad but daren't step on the scales this week.

Wintersun · 03/05/2009 19:27

Luckymoray I hope youre ankle gets better soon. Its so frustrating when you want to exercise and can't. hope you have a good weekend away!

JKS sounds like you're having a really awful and worrying time. It must be horrible

Well I lost 3lbs last week so I'm pleased about that. I think the RC classes are going to be good for me.

I'm not going to update my weight yet because I had put some on

JustKeepSwimming · 03/05/2009 20:00

Thanks

DS2 has probable epilepsy more details to follow once he's had an MRI.

Not fitting at the moment (other than small 'absence seizures') but has a stinking cold so not sleeping well.

Diet well and truly gone to pot as i'm firmly on the wine and chocolate plan

Well done if you're losing weight!

countesscaloriecounter · 03/05/2009 20:06

JKS one of my foster lads has epilepsy. We knew he had it for at least a year before the medical profession finally agreed with us. They used to be pretty bad but the medication he's on now has made them virtually non existent.
It's a big worry for you I know, but its diagnosed now so I'm sure he'll get all the help he needs. Small comfort though.I would send you some hugs but I know its very un MN to do that!

countesscaloriecounter · 03/05/2009 20:07

Wintersun very well done for losing 3lbs. Good on you.I've been stuck at the same weight for at least 3 weeks now!

JustKeepSwimming · 03/05/2009 20:26

Maintaining is good

thanks, i'll accept any hugs going, sod MN-etiquette!!!

LisaLessLumpy · 04/05/2009 20:18

{{BIG HUGS}} xx

JustKeepSwimming · 04/05/2009 20:52

Thanks LLL

all weirdly calm here atm, just a few 'absences' yesterday and today.

upstairs scales said 8,9 today

LisaLessLumpy · 05/05/2009 17:07

I think I have broken or badly bruised my big toe and ball of my foot, tripped over today whilst carrying Ben and landed awkwardly. It is now very painful :-/ so no exercise here for a while.

OP posts:
Wintersun · 06/05/2009 10:22

Oh dear Lisa. Poor you and Ben. I'm always worried about falling over carrying the baby. Hope you recover soon.

JKS - how are you doing? Have some (((Hugs))) from me too. Life's too short to go without hugs when we need them. Well done on your weight, though!

Thanks Countess. I go through stages of being stuck at a particular weight. I just get fed up of dieting. As long as you don't put on (like I did recently ) you can just get back into it when you're ready. Try doing some exercise as that suddenly makes you all positive and happy.

I've been ok so far this week and have managed about 1/2 an hr of exercise every day. Running in the park mostly and a dvd this morning [chuffed emoticon]

My house is a tip. Am off to burn more cals with some vigorous housework

luckymoray · 06/05/2009 11:04

JKS - I am really sorry to hear about what you are going through at the moment. i hope you get answers soon and then you can start to try and deal with the reality of your new situation. I have no idea about MN etiquette so I'll send you hugs too!

Sorry to hear about your foot Lisa, it's really frustrating isn't it. If you're able to find the time to go swimming, you should be able to do that in a few days time.

MaryAnnSailors · 06/05/2009 17:15

In scrolling down the screen, i just noticed your situation JKS. I don't know where to begin... i think all i have are virtual . And wishes that the seizures become manageable very soon.
Mixedmama told me about the break in also, but i couldn't find it on the thread at the time, so i didn't want to comment on it. It seems trifling in comparison, now. But i hope everything is recovered soon. I'm not a believer myself, but i'll get my mil to pray for you - it seems to work for her.

I'm not online a great deal at the moment at all, as the contents of the loft are in my living room, so i'm staying out and about as much as possible and have limited access to computer. I'm also avoiding the weight issue... but that's probably obvious!

Lisa! Heal quick and well. Maybe get some arnica to rub into your bruising (not the tablets), i've found it really speeds up the process. I used to get bruised a lot, and quite deeply, when doing physical theatre, and swore by the stuff.

Keep up the good work everyone. Thin thoughts!

JustKeepSwimming · 06/05/2009 19:32

Thanks everyone very much.
Re burglary - putting it behind us as much as poss, insurance agreed to replace Macbook with brand new one and give me vouchers for cost of replacement one to spend in PC World (£300) double x
(not sure what i need in PC World for 300 so may find someone about to shop there and swap, lol. or 'find' something i 'need'!!)

And paid deposit on alarm system today so that will be fitted in a couple of weeks.

As for DS2's poss epilepsy, he has an MRI tomorrow which should tell the docs more so we can start to treat it and get him on the meds and see how he reacts. Not looking forward to any of it exactly but want to make progress.
There are much worse things that can happen...

So, back to weight loss, how are we all doing?
I'm chuffed as Wii Fit said....8,10 tonight

MaryAnnSailors I hope you get the contents of your loft back up in your loft asap!

Wintersun Good news on all the exercise! You're sure to have lost weight this week. Well done.

Lisa I'm sorry that you've hurt your foot. That must have been painful and scary at the same time. Take it easy for a bit.

I'm struggling to stay focused this week as we are off for 5 days break next week, so I keep having the odd naughty food, thinking it won't matter as I'm easing up on diet while away next week anyway. Stupid reasoning I know!
To be honest, I've faffed about so much lately that I think I need the break away and re focus my efforts again when I get back. It's only 9 weeks until I go to Florida! Yikes.

JustKeepSwimming · 07/05/2009 20:12

Thanks Countess

it went fine, docs looked at it straight away and said they found something, but not specialist enough to know what it is exactly.

Great Ormond Street will look and review and get back to us.

Meanwhile we have started DS2 on his anti-epileptic drugs as of tonight.
small doses working up to the full amount over 4 weeks.
fingers majorly crossed.

eating chocolate and chocolate brownies and drinking wine.
