1st March - Time for a new thread

We can now forget/capitalise on the first two difficult months. The lighter mornings are upon us, soon the sun will be shining more and more and it will become warmer. Time to start thinking about the spring wardrobe...

Come on ladies, lets go for it, Summer will be here before we know it, and we want to enjoy it don't we?

I have copied the stats from the last weigh in, I have put the Jan start weight first, and the last weight that was posted, so update as necessary I have taken off a couple of people I haven't seen in a while, apologies if you are still checking, please say hello and add yourself to the stats again, as well as anyone else who would like to join.

Well done, luckymoray, great result this week. Yes, the swimming costume is a BIG incentive.

I've been off work this week and had SO many meals out. Had a great time, but the calories!!!!! I have been exercising a lot though to try to redeem myself. I've been to yoga (a hard class!) twice this week and I've been on the Wii fitness coach every day. I can certainly feel muscles I didn't know I had now!

I'm going away this weekend, so that will be even more eating and drinking!

Have a lovely Easter everyone!

MaryAnnSailors · 09/04/2009 14:08

Good three luckymoray!

Countess, ok not really envious - just wistful! You'll have a brilliant time, and it will be great being out and about, as you'll be exercising without going out of your way!

All those muscles developing Tessieb! They'll be getting rid of fat so much quicker. You'll be there in no time!

Got a double whammy this w/end turning 36 (how did that happen?) and ye olde bunny/bilby will turn up no doubt and deposit one lovely small egg. This weekend will see what i'm made of. Sterner stuff, i hope!

tessieb · 09/04/2009 19:41

Happy birthday, MaryAnn!

Countingthegreyhairs · 10/04/2009 00:38

Yes, many happy returns for the weekend MAS!

And well done LuckyMoray - 4lbs in a week is really good going

LisaLessLumpy · 10/04/2009 15:52

Happy Birthday MAS, hope you have a fab weekend.

Well I am supposed to weigh in tomorrow, but I'm not sure I want to. I don't feel like I have lost any and I dont want it confirmed because then I will be depressed and I am at a wedding tomorrow so don't want to spoil the day, so I may leave it another week

MaryAnnSailors · 11/04/2009 10:27

Thanks for the birthday wishes, lovely ladies! Off to MILs today for the Easter w'end where i will eat 1 egg. Yes.

Have a lovely time at the wedding Lisa, and don't worry about the loss - you're a lot more slim since Jan 1st! and that's what counts, you're on the right road!

katiestar · 12/04/2009 20:52

hello
Hope its Ok to join you.I take the place of heaviest among you !!I have been dieting for 3 weeks so far (this time). The wake up call finally came when I had blood pressure checked and its gone up a bit and Dr said I should lose some weight. Also I am an apple shape which puts me at higher risk.As I'm 40 I want to get rid of teh fat before I develop real health problems. It will be lovely to look nicer too.I don't have any full length morrors in the house !!

Lucky muray.
I think it is great you can have a good meal and a bottle of wine and then get back on the wagon. We can't live our life always avoiding fattening food so being able to get back into it again is (for me anyway) I think the secret to success

tessieb · 13/04/2009 10:55

Happy Easter everyone. Hope you didn't have too many eggs and easter goodies!

Welcome Katiestar and good luck with your weight loss journey. Are you following a specific diet or just cutting down generally? Everyone on here is using different methods and we're all very supportive. I've been using weightlossresources since February and finding it a fab site.

Last week was a great week - off work, lots of meals out (oops - nearly every night!) and a few days away too. I did more exercise than usual to try to compensate for all the meals, but when I weighed myself yesterday had PUT ON ONE POUND!!!!!!! Guess it's not too surprising with all the over-indulgence. So, this week I need to really get back on track.

Enjoy the holiday! (I just love these little bunny smilies!)

LisaLessLumpy · 13/04/2009 11:45

Hi katiestar, welcome to a great and supportive topic

Well, I bit the bullet and weighed myself....

After 6 weeks and lots of exercise, I have lost a grand total of....

abigfatzero

I have lost a total of 5 inches from various parts of the body though, so at least that's something. Also I haven't been quite as good as I should have this week, and I haven't done any cross trainer for 5 days

So back on it today and I shall get on the cross trainer tonight to kick start things again. 5 weeks till my holiday, I will see if I can achieve what I haven't in the last six weeks!

countesscaloriecounter · 13/04/2009 13:05

Oh Lisa how annoying for you after all your hard work. Try and concentrate on the fact that you lost all those inches!

Hello and welcome Katie. Did I read your stats right and in 3 weeks you have lost nearly a stone? If so, please tell me the secret to your success.

Tessie, after a week of eating out and you only putting on a 1lb I think you've done really well. It will soon come off again.

I keep messing up each and every weekend which although isn't putting any weight on its not getting it off either. I really need to give myself a huge kick up my fat backside! DH and foster boys are away for a couple of days camping. Normally that would be my excuse to indulge in lots of goodies but I am resolved to not do it this time, and plan on lots of excercise this week. Talking of which I am off now to get on the excercise bike.

Best of luck ladies.

katiestar · 13/04/2009 20:02

Lisa - congratulations on your excellent '5 inch loss'.Inch loss is what its all about !! None of us want to lose a few stone and still look the same !
I understand the lack of poundage loss is frustrating but I am sure that you already know that is because you are replacing fat with muscle which will help you burn fat all the more !

Tessie - I think a pound weight gain isn't much if you have been eating out. I am trying just to cut back generally and exercise more.I have found that following any specific eating plan makes me want to rebel against its rules !!

Contessa -what kind of exercise have you got planned?

countesscaloriecounter · 13/04/2009 20:16

Katie, my DH bought me an exercise bike in January which I use nearly every day and has definitely helped in the weight loss. I also take ds out in his buggy and do long walks if the weather is ok.

JustKeepSwimmingInChocolate · 13/04/2009 20:32

Welcome Katie

Lisa - bad luck with the weight numbers but well done on the inches

Tessie - i have just spent a long weekend at my parents - chocolate, wine, Devon clotted cream, etc. etc. countered by lots of gardening (they've just moved in) = 1lb gain, same as you!
So, back on track until the weekend when the PIL are here for 'their' Easter, then firmly back on track once they've gone, lol.

May try and get some more cycling in this week too, good luck Countess on being good on your own!

luckymoray · 14/04/2009 11:58

welcome katiestar - you look like you've lost an impressive amount of weight already. i find this thread really helpful as i feel more 'accountable' to something - ie, it's really useful to post your weight loss (or gain!) and have great support afterwards.

lisa - sorry to hear that you've stayed the same but i bet you look loads better, being toned. unfortunately i think weighing-scale weight loss is really best achieved with diet - something i have to learn - ie, i think i can do it all with exercise but i can't.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 15/04/2009 12:07

Am lurking and catching up I am not much inspiration atm so just going to keep up to date with everyone else.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 15/04/2009 12:19

Well it all seems to be going well, just 1lb gains which seem to be specifically eating out related so I think that is superb.

MAS - Happy late Bday... so rubbish I am.

Lisa - 5 inches is amazing. I have been doing loads more exercise and seem to have not lots lbs or inches.

I have organised a Little Black Dress night out with some friends for the end of May. I have in my wardrobe a black dress that I have had for years but is my dress for when all else fails. It is my incentive to fit into it... even if I do need some pull me in knickers. Incidentally if anyone knows which brand of knickers are best do post.

I was back to 9.12 last week but am keeping at it and I know it is my fault with having that extra this or that.

My holiday is also in August and I am trying to get a bikini body () but we will see.

Also, MAS gave me soem fantastic walking routes the other week so am going to schedule a walk with my cousin. MAS I dont think DS2 will stay in the pushchair for 5 miles otherwise we could do it together.

JustKeepSwimming · 15/04/2009 19:48

Well not doing too good here, getting back on track after a long weekend of indulgence is hard!
And PIL arrive tomorrow so thinking i will suspend 'diet' until they've left on Monday.
Then i had 9.5weeks until holiday so will have to knuckle down big time.

Oh and come up with a way to get rid of jelly belly too....

countesscaloriecounter · 16/04/2009 09:59

Hi all

I think I will just maintain my weight this week, judging by the scales so far. Had a rubbish weekend which although I get it together in the week and diet and exercise, its not enough to lose any. Really need to sort this as I go away mid July and really don't want to be all self concious of how I look yet again

At least none of us have given up yet, in spite of the odd days of indulgence we are all still soldiering on. We will get there!

tessieb · 16/04/2009 10:03

It's just so hard to stick to sensible/healthy eating at the moment. As it's school holidays we've been out a lot, had a few lunches out too. And the Easter goodies... Ds helped me to finish off our Easter chick cake yesterday. He has loads of Easter eggs and when he has some always gives me a little piece. And I can't resist!!!

So, I don't seem to be doing so well at the moment. Dread to think what the scales will say next Sunday!

Hope you are all enjoying the Easter holidays.

tessieb · 16/04/2009 10:05

You are right, Countess. We WILL get there and it's great that we're still persevering. Some times of the year are harder than others to lose weight!

luckymoray · 17/04/2009 13:46

hello

after Friday weigh-in, i have lost another 2 lbs which means that I've lost a stone in total since the beginning of February. Hooray. It's a slow weight loss but I'll take every pound, thank you very much. Only 20 pounds to go until goal weight...some days i just can't be BOTHERED but i guess it's worth it in the end...!

have good weekends,

Excellent LuckyMoray. You're doing really well.

As predicted I've stayed the same yet again this week. Ah well, I'll keep at it.

luckymoray · 17/04/2009 14:32

thank you countess, i think the first bit is probably the easiest to get off as it's the real excess! i see you started at about the same weight as me and you're now in the 10stone somethings...which is a real achievement, well done. i can't wait to join you!

JustKeepSwimming · 17/04/2009 19:26

Well done LuckyMoray

Wii Fit not impressed by Easter.

will wait until Monday and be strict again, off out to a birthday party later, so expect to drink too much and suffer tomorrow
