I’m going on a silly crash diet

For two weeks. I’m only going to eat soup, yoghurt, vegetables and fruit. I normally eat a good diet but too much wine and relaxing has meant I need to seriously shed a stone at least before I go on holiday in November. I did this diet about 16 years ago with excellent results, but I remember it being extremely challenging.

So I’m going to post here every day for a bit of accountability. Just two weeks - hope it flies by!

Okay so day two of 14.

A fruit smoothie
A cup of coffee
A salad
Two pickled onions

I’m sitting down now to two boiled eggs and a packet of prawns. I’ve got tomato soup cooking ready to be blended but if I’m not hungry after this ‘meal’ I’ll keep that for tomorrow.

Are you counting calories?

Nope. As long as it’s vegetables, yoghurt (I only eat natural or Greek), soup, or fruit it’s fine. I’m also allowing up to two boiled eggs a day, and two 150g packets of prawns a week.

Immature and unhealthy. What’s wrong with you?

🙄 It’s two weeks of low calorie, healthy foods.

Nothing to add, OP, but your thread did remind me of this one from mnet a few years back.

😂 I have enjoyed that. Laughed out loud at this comment - ‘I'm watching this with interest. I need to lose 2 stone by tomorrow.’

Your calories must be well under 1k a day bases on what you have been sharing, im sure this puts the body into starvation mode and crashes your metabolism which then takes longer to sort out.

Sunshineandrainbow · 25/08/2026 22:48

Glad you have added some protein.

Yay - I lost well on this -along with the odd protein shake - and actually felt well -

Ooo thank you! I got a Nutribullet for my birthday last month so might look into some nice milkshakes to make with it too.

Yep you can get protein powder too to add if making your own , which isa good idea if you aren’t eating that much of it.

Yes, well under 1000. It’s very short term though.

I’d ditch the fruit in favour of protein unless you want to lose lean muscle.

bengalcat · 26/08/2026 06:19

Soup , yoghurt , veg and fruit sounds a good mix - good luck

Bringemout · 26/08/2026 06:22

You’ll lose like 5lbs of water weight and maybe a couple of pounds of actual fat. It doesn’t seem worth the struggle tbh, you could lose 2 lbs in two weeks by just cutting calories a bit and a bit if exercise.

But if you are going to do it look at a protein sparing modified fast instead, it’ll help preserve some muscle mass.

morbidcuriosity · 26/08/2026 07:12

Can you add plain chicken breast and eggs for a bit more nutrition? . Won't affect calories that much, will boost your protein and help you with hunger.

Protein has a lot more calories and it’s in the yoghurt.

A chicken breast will be 150-200 calories a day and slow it right down. I’m not feeling too hungry at all at the moment, it’s fine so far.

Good luck OP, i'm following with interest. Are you doing any exercise with it? I was thinking of doing those Huel protein shake meal replacements for 2 meals and then having a healthy dinner. Or go on MJ and spend thousands of pounds. Haven't quite decided yet

Directly171717171717 · 24/08/2026 12:51

Long term I do try and avoid UPFs, avoid red meat, avoid sugar etc but the lovely summer has led to an overindulgence in wine and barbecue food. I want a two week jump start before going back to the healthy day to day diet.

Or you could just go straight back in to sensible and healthy

I obviously know I could so I’m not sure what the point of your comment is.

I’ve just got back from a five mile walk and will go on a run tomorrow. I’m not going to go hell for leather on the exercise though - it’ll be the (lack of) food that causes the weight loss.

If the shakes and a meal work for you go for it. I always try and keep my meal back as late as I can so I know I’ve still got it to look forward to.

Today I’ve had a fruit smoothie and am going to have a kefir yoghurt, banana, two boiled eggs and coffee.

Tonight I’ll have either a salad or tomato soup.

Your weight loss won't be fst its be fat, water and muscle because if you arent eating enough protein to prevent it then it will go. Nor are you lifting weights.

Its all well and good doing a calories deficit but what macros make up what calories do you eat is important.

Your body will think its starving and your metabolism will crashing those two weeks and alow down considerably. It might be a temporary fast fix but long term you will see the weight go bsck on quickly and a slower metabolism.

You can still keep to your calories and eat protein.

Good luck to you though.
