⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Following on from ⭐️LOSE IT! January Jumpstart 2026 ⭐️

January has absolutely flown by!

To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.
  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.
  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.
  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.
  5. Stay hydrated! 💧
  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.
  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩
  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.
  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!
  10. Be kind to yourself. One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.

After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 4lbs.
Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

January was a disaster of illness and injury. I have been eating too much, boredom, pain. But unbelievably my weight had not really changed.
Im back to the gym with physio exercises.

Determinedloser · 17/02/2026 10:31

How are people deciding their goal weights? Is it weights they’ve been happy at in the past or using online guides?

I saw some photos of me in 2018 and would love to be that size again but frustratingly don’t know what weight I was!

I am fairly tall, with small wrists and ankles and a small chest so can only assume I should be on the lighter end of the healthy weight for my height so I am aiming for just over that at a round 9 stone (rather than 8 stone 11 but we will see how it goes).

So 19lbs to go!

TheWayTheLightFalls · 17/02/2026 10:53

@Determinedloser middle of healthy BMI for me. I'm there(ish) now and it feels right, so that approach worked for me. Though BMI has a lot of faults, I know they should team up with Zoe .

@BlackCatFanClub really hope February is your month. Jan is shit enough without all that!

Persian soup and hash browns for breakfast/brunch today after OMAD yesterday, all good. And had physio yesterday and can start doing some strength stuff - she sent me off with resistance bands.

Determinedloser · 17/02/2026 12:21

@TheWayTheLightFalls after a chat with ChatGPT I am probably aiming for more around the middle too actually. Chat was appalled at me aiming for the lower end of the healthy scale! But I’ll see how I feel when I get to the middle.

Saltedporridge · 17/02/2026 14:04

I'm very late to the party, but please may I join?

I weighed myself this morning and was just a whisker under 11 stone. I'd love to somewhere between a 14-21lbs lighter by summer. I'm short and a full time wheelchair user, so I should actually be 8 stone something, but I'll start small.

This needs to be for a lifetime - not just a diet. As I get older, I want to continue to be able to transfer easily into/out of my chair. That will be a lot easier, if I'm the right weight for my height.

Focus is on healthy foods, low UPF and small portions. Exercise is a challenge, but now the weather is improving, I'll try to go for a 'walk' every day and do some weights.

I am quite 'small boned' ie quite narrow hips, small wrists and ankles and pre kids my BMI was 20.5 which suited me fine (60kgs and 171cm). It wasn't difficult to maintain, I was very fit and well. I am currently 22.7 (66kgs) and feel like I have a fair bit of excess fat (well an extra 6kgs since pre-kids!). I am sure other people with a larger frame would look great with my current BMI but I certainly feel like I looked much better at 60kgs vs where I am now.

2026x · 17/02/2026 14:31

Hello everyone - I am not doing the WoW as we are away this week. Trying not to let half term turn into an eating and drinking disaster but with a 2yo and a 4yo to contend with for a week in the rain, I am not holding out much hope 😂

FridayNighFeeling · 17/02/2026 15:02

@Determinedloser I'm aiming to get to previous weight where I felt happy/healthy and BMI was around 24-25. I don't think very thin suits me though I was when I was very (early 20s) young and it did suit then!

socks1107 · 17/02/2026 17:52

I’d thought I’d check in quickly. I’ve at stuck to my calorie goal, just like January, just like last year and I weighed more this morning than I did two weeks ago so am really upset, yet another goal
will come and go not achieved on ontime. It’s taken 8 months to lose a stone and now I’ve bounced the pound back up so I haven’t even achieved that. I know three stone overall is good but the last 8 months has had me questioning my sanity.

i realised this morning my hands felt very strange and when I looked back my total lack of any progress started the same day I started BP meds, I did an online gp form and they are calling me tonight. I suspect it’s fluid retention and my kidneys not processing properly but I am absolutely never taking those tablets again. Hoping for something else and they haven’t really brought my bp down.

that’s my moan, I’m so sad that I’ll miss another goal. So close to healthy bmi but wandering whether to give it all up at 26.7 and just accept this is where I’ll stay. Not sure I’ll do WOW tomorrow but will see how I feel in the morning

Alwaysploddingon · 17/02/2026 21:18

Checking in. As I have gone off the rails a bit recently but am cutting out sugar and snacking for lent. Will weigh tomorrow, but enjoyed lots of pancakes today.

Hi
I decided my goal of 9st 2
Then as I felt really good I decided to go for 8st 9
I have reached my goal and because I feel and look lots better not just my body but my hair skin and nails are looking much healthier now
So decided to try maintain .
I'm with Slimming world so once hit target you are allowed 3 pounds each way I'm in the lower end of my target at 8 stone 7
My decision was the best for me and my age . Probably years ago I would thought that was to heavy though.
You will know once you get there so small goals and see how you feel
Good luck@Determinedloser xx

TheWayTheLightFalls · 18/02/2026 06:48

Morning! WoW is 68.1kg, again 2kg or so under goal. All good. Would have been a tad lower without pancake day and Chinese new year on the same day yesterday, wtf! Grin

Good luck WoWers! Welcome @Saltedporridge

Coffeetimes3 · 18/02/2026 07:12

No loss for me this week. I was expecting that after a fun weekend away eating and drinking. I have decided my goal weight based on the top end of a healthy BMI. I want it to be achievable and I'm more concerned with health than looks.

SW 12 stone
CW 11 stone 9
GW 10 stone 7

On the menu today is my usual breakfast of greek yoghurt, protein granola and fruit. Lunch scrambled eggs on toast. Dinner sausage, roasties and veg

Saltedporridge · 18/02/2026 08:58

Weighed in for the first time yesterday before I realised you have a Wednesday weigh in!

SW 153lbs
Ist GW - 140lbs
2nd GW - 130lbs
3rd and final GW (possibly deluded) - 120lbs

Have a good week everyone!

Fellsbells · 18/02/2026 09:06

Happy to have maintained this week.

moondip · 18/02/2026 09:22

Morning all ☀️
@socks1107 Sorry to hear that about your BP medication. Really hope your kidneys are all good and that they can get you on some new meds that actually do something for your BP and don’t leave you with any unwanted side effects 🙏

After going over on calories the previous week I was a lot more disciplined this week and also did more walking. It’s paid off as I’m down 1.75kg on last week!

SW (01/01/26): 102.1kg
CW: 93.75kg
GW1: 90kg

This thread has honestly helped me so much - just all the various points we are at with our weight loss, various approaches, and seeing how people are pushing through despite illness, injury, and busy personal lives! I also find WoW really helpful because I am sticking to weighing myself only on Wednesdays, and so once a week. At this stage I think that’s helping me stay motivated as I’d otherwise get bogged down by seeing too many fluctuations I think. Also NutraCheck!

JumpLeadsForTwo · 18/02/2026 09:44

Morning all!
SW 88.8kg
CW 86.8kg
GW 68kg
long way to go, but happy with progress as only started 3wks ago. Expecting to slow down as I’m not aiming for crazy changes/ rapid loss with the hope I can sustain it. Exercise needs to be a focus in the next few weeks as I’m rushing around everywhere and not prioritising

biscuitcat · 18/02/2026 10:21

I’ve had a good week this week with a little whoosh, so am 3lbs down from last week - nice after two quite uninspiring weeks of tiny losses or gains.

SW - 15st10.5
CW - 12st4

@socks1107 I can feel your frustration, I’m sorry it’s been so hard - you’re honestly doing amazingly and don’t let this detract from it, but equally I know that won’t ease how annoyed you’re feeling. It sounds like getting to the GP is a really sensible course of action and hopefully they’ll be able to shed some light 💜

@DeterminedloserI have a vague goal weight in mind which will have me in the middle of a healthy BMI, but as I get closer I’ll make a firmer decision. I’m quite broad shouldered and also curvy so being right at the bottom of a healthy BMI wouldn’t suit me (I just don’t have size 8 bones!). I’ve also looked at what my maintenance calories would be (approximately), and the level at the weight I’m hoping for feels manageable - if I was trying to eat little enough to maintain a BMI of 20 or 21 I’d be setting myself up for failure.

stealthninjamum · 18/02/2026 10:43

SW: 197lbs
LW: 182.3
Today 182.9

My goal was to be 181 by Valentine’s Day but it’s been a difficult weekend and I’ve not managed to exercise, eat well or even track my food. I’ll get back on track today.

I’m setting my next target which is to be 167lbs by mid July but maybe that’s ambitious. That would be 11 st 13. I probably won’t go on holiday because autistic dc don’t like it but I want to book myself a night in a hotel with a spa and feel more confident in a swimming costume.

Determinedloser · 18/02/2026 11:21

Thanks for everyone’s thoughts on the goal weights. It’s interesting to hear other people’s plans.

1lb off for me this week.

I am increasing my calories with the goal of using the extra to increase protein. So might only see a 0.5lb per week loss going forward but am really trying not to lose muscle (if I have any!) so took ChatGPTs advice. Increasing steps too so that should help with the deficit.

Well done to all who WOWed today. We are smashing this.

TheRealHousewife · 18/02/2026 13:52

Hello You Lovely Lot

Welcome to the thread @Saltedporridge 👍 If you’re changing to a healthier, portion controlled, whole food diet you will see progress, albeit slower than a person who can exercise with abandon. They do say broadly that weight loss is food based and fitness is exercise based. I’m disabled (walker) although limited in range. A 3,000 step day is the absolute best I can achieve, certainly not in any consistent manner and most certainly not at speed 🐢 . I also have an under-active thyroid that is medicated, yet fatigue remains a daily battle. I slimmed down from over 12 stones to just under 9stones but currently I’m idling around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get to around 8st 10lb but it’s being a bit elusive 😬. You can do this!

Sending a hug ❤️ It’s very frustrating when you’re doing the right things but factors outside your control are sabotaging your efforts. You have my sympathies. I’m in a similar situation and when it’s particularly tough I tell myself if I wasn't doing the effort my weight would be far heavier and I wouldn’t be as healthy. Easier said than done x
