⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Following on from ⭐️LOSE IT! January Jumpstart 2026 ⭐️

January has absolutely flown by!

To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.
  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.
  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.
  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.
  5. Stay hydrated! 💧
  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.
  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩
  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.
  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!
  10. Be kind to yourself. One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.

After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 4lbs.
Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

Thanks for the protein tips guys. Will def investigate types of greek yoghurt, protein bread and lederhammer!

WhitegreeNcandle · 07/02/2026 19:35

Wow. I’ve just learnt why I’ve not lost weight in January. I thought I’d been pretty good today but after tracking in mfp I’m 800 odd cals over where I should be apparently!!

WearyAuldWumman · 07/02/2026 19:58

So... My starting point was above 16st 4. Got down to 13 st 13 at one point.

I gained weight over Christmas and January. I'm back exercising, but only been eating maintenance while I try to sort out gastro issues. Currently gulp 14 st 8.

The pattern for me seems to be: lose 19/20lbs; gain 8/9lbs.

I'm still fitting into my clothes, but I obviously need to get back on track. Currently, my good, fitting coat is buttoning up comfortably. Started out as a size 20/22. Currently wearing size 16/18.

I've added another exercise class - another Senior Flex class which is, essentially Chair Pilates (in addition to the regular Pilates class I attend).

Went to the senior class yesterday and it was mainly band work. "This is easy!" I thought. My abdominals currently disagree with that notion.

Well, it's lovely to hear from you and your abdominals @WearyAuldWumman !

It's good you can see that the overall trend is in the right direction.

FridayNighFeeling · 07/02/2026 20:31

Welcome back @WearyAuldWumman

Well done @Emmadaily for remaining around target. You've done amazingly.

What distance is the run @Fellsbells ?

I'm really trying to get my head back into gear - today I've managed to eat inside my 8hr window at least, so that can kick back into a 16 hr fast tomorrow. Hoping to get a 5 miler in on Monday or Tuesday or both, but in the meanwhile I'm still doing my exercises from osteopath and Julia Rippel mobility stuff too.

Fellsbells · 07/02/2026 22:44

@FridayNighFeeling it’s a 10km.

Gone over calories today, but at least now my over eating days look like an average day before I lost weight. I can’t imagine how many calories I used to clock up.

Planning a long run tomorrow so that should knock a few ounces off.

biscuitcat · 08/02/2026 16:24

@Fellsbells I recognise that feeling! I find I’m fuller much sooner than I used to be too, have you found that? Tracking makes it very clear to me how I gained so much weight!

I inputted all of my weighing data from Nutracheck into Happy Scale (manually - there was probably a way to do it automatically but it would have taken so long to figure it out I thought that I may as well do it by hand!) and it’s predicting that I’ll be at my goal weight - or what my current working goal is anyway - at the end of August. I wonder if my weight loss might slow down a bit when I finish breastfeeding so can’t rely on the extra calories that allows me, which would push that back, but it still feels nice to have something to look forward to. And actually, I feel and look so much better already - it’s easy to focus only on that ‘final’ number, but my experience is I feel ten times better than 8 months ago despite still having a way to go.

FridayNighFeeling · 08/02/2026 18:33

Well done for managing that distance @Fellsbells I've tried C25K a few times, but it's not for me. Aiming to walk my 5m with double buggy tomorrow though.

Great stuff @biscuitcat every bit helps to make you feel more yourself I'm sure.

I've eaten both within my eating window and calorie count according to MFP so going to get on the scales in the morning and hoping to reset.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 09/02/2026 09:31

Well done @Fellsbells . I’m another one who can’t hack it!

Signing in for OMAD. Will eat in a bit then head to the cinema.

Determinedloser · 09/02/2026 09:34

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.

Bit of a gain for me this morning as had quite a big weekend food wise but I’m sure it will just be water weight and will be back off for WOW on Wednesday.

Good luck this week Smile

FridayNighFeeling · 09/02/2026 13:04

Hi all, just checking in on the Monday. I've done my 5 miles, drunk my creatine and after a 16 hour fast food OK (sof far). I weigh more or less the same as 19/12 which is frustrating, but 11kg/24lbs off is better than on! Really hoping I can make some headway now to lose some more.

How are you doing @TheWayTheLightFalls ? Did you have pop corn? What did you see at the cinema?

Very frustrating but as you say - that is a lot off!

I went to see Marty Supreme. Really enjoyed it but it felt quite long and I was ready for it to end when it did. Walked there and back, 45m each way. Was on the fence about popcorn because I loooove cinema popcorn and obviously the smell is something else when you're in there, but I ended up just having a diet soda. Ate before I left so just coffee etc now.

How are others getting on today?

TheWayTheLightFalls · 09/02/2026 15:18

Oh - and a nice NSV - I'm off to John Lewis tmrw for a stylist consultation and new wardrobe - 24kg down + no tits definitely calls for it!

WhitegreeNcandle · 09/02/2026 18:35

@TheWayTheLightFalls that sounds really fun, hope you get some nice things. Many years ago I lost 6 stone and was so grateful to a friend who made me go shopping and try on things I would never have tried on in a million years at my bigger weight.

Im totally realising now why I didnt lose in January. I’ve just had tea and putting it all into mfp has made me realise I must have been going over my calories on a daily basis by hoovering up sandwiches the kids didn’t eat, nibbling whilst cooking etc.

Just had an online shop delivered with loads of cottage cheese and Greek yoghurt! Finding eating high fibre and high protein quite hard!

FridayNighFeeling · 09/02/2026 19:02

Sounds like you had a good day and super will power as I couldn't resist popcorn @TheWayTheLightFalls !
Enjoy the experience tomorrow, you deserve it.

Alwaysploddingon · 10/02/2026 09:35

Morning,
I've not been on these threads for a while. But I've lost 3kg this year! I started off the low carb bootcamp but didn't stick to it. I stopped eating pasta, rice and bread but still had chocolate and cakes. Then I had a stomach bug last week, and only got my appetite back yesterday, and it's not that strong. So, in reality I think it's muscle loss as I spend a lot of time horizontal last week.

Towards the end of last year I have been working on fitness. I'm Christian so I will give myself a break to recover properly then give up chocolate, cakes, processed sugar (and maybe more) for lent. Possibly for the first 11 days then have Sundays off until easter.

Generally I prefer lent as a time of year to be strick on food, over January, as it's easier in the spring and with an end in sight.

HappyLittleTreeFriend · 10/02/2026 09:44

Hello all, checking in - I went over calories last week because of the weekend, just felt like eating chocolate and cheese - and also came on my period so I’m sensing those things are linked 😂🙈 had a better day calorie wise yesterday and have also been keeping up with my yoga, getting back to an almost daily practice so that’s making me feel good too!

L - Salad with a hard boiled egg and tuna
D - chicken curry, small rice portion and a couple of onion bhajis

moondip · 10/02/2026 14:36

Hope everyone’s been having a good week. I have gone over calories a few days in the past week so not sure how tomorrow will look for WoW, but we persevere 💪 I really need to keep my water intake up as I’ve noticed the days that I’ve drank less water I’m definitely eating more…

FridayNighFeeling · 10/02/2026 18:16

Good luck for WoW tomorrow all who are taking part. I'm hopeful after 3 days back on track that I'm going in the right direction at least. Consistency over perfection!

socks1107 · 10/02/2026 18:30

I’m just checking in. Been in a deficit all week, fasting and exercising and so far have stayed the same as last week. Trying to not to let it get me down after such a good January. Hoping it’s the new bp meds I’ve started causing some fluid retention

TheWayTheLightFalls · 11/02/2026 06:48

Morning! WoW is 68.8kg today. 1.2kg under goal. Which is not what I was expecting because I was reading through the thread yesterday evening eating a Cornetto Grin. Still, I’ll take it. I’m doing masses of walking at the moment so I expect it’s that.

Good luck Wowers!

Coffeetimes3 · 11/02/2026 07:01

Well done @TheWayTheLightFalls.

It's great when you can have a few treats and still lose. I'm down another pound to 11st9. I wasn't expecting it because I'd lost 4lb in 2 weeks already which is very good for me. I've been sticking pretty well to 1500 calories a day, making sure I get 10k steps as well as my usual running and going to the gym.

I'm away for a fun weekend of eating and drinking this weekend so I expect that'll impact next weigh in. I'm not bothered about that particularly but a bit worried that if I let myself indulge this weekend I won't get back on it easily. Hopefully posting here will keep me on track!

2026x · 11/02/2026 07:12

Morning!

My first WOW -

SW - 67.4kg (last Thursday)
CW - 66.3kgs
GW - 60kgs

1.1kgs down so pretty pleased as I’ve not been calories counting and don’t feel like I was being super ‘careful’. When I’ve lost weight in the past I’ve found a get a quick drop initially very easy so probably have to be a bit more disciplined this week.

moondip · 11/02/2026 07:22

Morning WoWers! Not the best weigh-in for me today as I’m only down 0.35kg from last week. But it’s still a loss, and I know the reason behind it was going over calories several days. Here’s to a more disciplined week for me!

SW: 102.1kg
CW: 95.5kg
GW1: 90kg

WoodlandDragon · 11/02/2026 07:57

Morning everyone! I skipped last week as I was travelling for work, and I can see that my weight hasn't changed really since 2 weeks ago - but I know that actually it's gone up and then down by 2kg in that time! The perfect storm of birthday and travel (including plane bloat - air travel does weird things to my body...) Glad to be back to it though, could have been worse!

SW (1/1/26): 90.5 kg (BMI 28.6)
CW: 88.6 kg
Initial GW: 85 kg (BMI 26.8)
Ultimate GW: 75 kg (BMI 23.7)

Onwards and hopefully downwards for next week!
