Following on from LOSE IT! July 2024

Schools out and Summer has finally arrived and it’s hot hot hot! And with it holidays, get togethers and family and friends having fun! Perhaps a time for being mindful that anything and everything is OK in moderation; whilst ensuring you get your water in (alternating with alcohol is an idea if a sesh is on the agenda) along with eating protein and healthy fats. It’s not a time for punitive regimes (although I never endorse that) or denying yourself. Enjoy the Summer and all its joys (we’ve waited long enough 😬) It’ll be September soon enough when we will start the Autumn Re-set!

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am now maintaining around 8st 12lb. I find this weight is sustainable and easy to maintain. If I can do it anyone can 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Well done @PatienceOfEngels yoga and food sounds lovely.

WOW
SW 10st 10 (May)
CW 9st 6
GW was 9st 7, new 9st 4 or 24% fat.

This week is my target week and I’ve passed my GW and I’m very happy. I’ve got another event in three weeks so that is my new target that I’m aiming for. Having events in my calendar is making me accountable.

I’m eating lots, low calorie, high volume so I’m never hungry. I have got used to not eating sugary, processed food and I feel so much better for it. (This is coming from someone who grazed on high sugar snacks all day.)

B- scrambled egg on avocado toast.
L- salmon, pasta and salad
D- salmon, green beans, potatoes. Chia pudding, fage.

8k steps. 20 mins ab video.

Cheeseagain · 21/08/2024 06:50

My first WOW and +0.5lb since Saturday 😫

not surprised as haven’t been very tight on cals this week (although good day mon & Tues)

im going away tomorrow for 4 days so will be trying hard to stick to plan.

SW 10st 3
CW 9st 11
GW 9st 2

Cheeseagain · 21/08/2024 06:53

@Fellsbells great wins! And you menu looks v tasty. Agree having events is a motivator. I have a hol in 7 weeks so want to be close to goal for then.

Fellsbells · 21/08/2024 06:59

Well done @LemonDrizzle23 sorry crossed posts.

@Cheeseagain good luck, remember the scales might have gone up, but it could be food or water. I have a pep talk with myself and remind myself that the scales fluctuate. It’s the long game that matters.

LegoTherapy · 21/08/2024 07:18

Morning all. Well done to the losers and to the gainers I agree it's the long game that matters.

SW 68.58kg September 22
GW changed over time but settled on 55kg eventually and achieved in June 23
CW 55.4kg

Newname2308 · 21/08/2024 08:23

20/8 (rather then WoW) 63.3kg
GW 56kg
I’ve been hovering about this weight all month, so I’m eating well for maintenance and potentially a veeeery slow loss 🤣 but not moving enough to push the loss onwards.
Feels like a good place as I head into autumn and a new academic year 👍 My teen DD needs to start moving more, so I’m going to try and make a plan with her.

greenleaveseverywhere · 21/08/2024 09:50

Crappy day yesterday. Calories okay but just poor choices.

Today's meal plan:

Breakfast- Porridge with banana, berries and supergreens powder

Lunch- eggs and avocado on toast

Dinner - beef mince stew with broccoli

Snack - watermelon

Lunarvalleysinmymind · 21/08/2024 10:01

Hi all! 9 st 10 today which is good. 2lbs to go until September GW.
I've sacked off calorie counting as I feel like I was eating more than I even wanted just cause I hadn't reached my deficit TDEE and it wasn't working. I just felt like I was hyper focusing on food constantly.

MeAgainAndAgain · 21/08/2024 16:31

SW 107kg (Saturday 3/8)
CW 105kg (Weds 7/8)
CW 105kg (Weds 14/8)
CW 105kg (Weds 21/8)
GW 85kg

So going by that I should be 104kg this week. Slower progress than I wanted, but I have to admit I could have tried harder.

OneDayIWillLearn · 21/08/2024 19:53

Three days away so far this week (two at a conference and one staying at my brother’s on the way) so not going very well! I haven’t done any of the meal planning and also wine and beer both nights so very much not on plan. I have tracked what I’ve eaten though and tried to make ‘best available’ choices where possible- lots of salad etc.

also due to being at the conference I’ve done no exercise and miles off my usual step count.

tomorrow I’m at work/ home and then Friday off again on a trip for a week. So probably a matter of damage limitation and then back in the groove in September. My birthday is the end of October so my targets are first getting back to mid August weight of 12 stone 7lbs and then hopefully into the 11s by my birthday!!

Lunarvalleysinmymind · 22/08/2024 08:22

@MeAgainAndAgain It took me years to shift 25kg, sometimes it was dropping off sometimes I would lose and gain the same pound for weeks. I cannot stress enough how glad I am that I remained consistent and persisted through the disappointing losses and was kind to myself when I could have done better that day or week. Sometimes you need more food, sometimes you can do well on a calorie restriction! it's totally the long game but I feel so much freer now that I'm not trapped in my own body (that's how it felt).

@OneDayIWillLearn fingers crossed for the 11st for your bday, so nice being down a stone bracket!

9st 10 today which is fine, I didn't try very hard yesterday - Today I'm going to try on all my outfits for my trip and hopefully that will motivated me to see them fit a little nicer.

Feeling that cosy autumn feeling already up there in Yorkshire - anyone else ready for autumn, back to school vibes?

talkingdeadscot · 22/08/2024 09:59

Morning all! I've not been on August's thread properly yet but I'm here and facing up to a bit of a blip.

I've been struggling with my health and had a new diagnosis. On top of that I've gained just over a kg. I'm pulling myself together and going to try to at least not gain any more weight even if I can't lose it right now.

SW - 93kg
GW - 55kg
CW - 63.2kg

I need to find something to focus on that's not either my health or food. Wish me luck!

MeAgainAndAgain · 22/08/2024 11:49

@Lunarvalleysinmymind thank you, that’s inspiring!

LegoTherapy · 23/08/2024 10:13

Morning all. I don't think I'll make 54kg for next week but if I get 55 dead on I'll be happy. Does it matter? No. I'm just focusing on all the minutiae at the moment and can't focus on much to keep the bad stuff at bay. I'm taking better care of my skin and remaining my aging face. I've been shown photos of the early 90s and I was so young and didn't have hollows under my eyes 😩 I've lost subcutaneous fat on my face and look older. Well I'm 32 years older so it's to be expected but it's brought home how much time has passed and I'm not sure how I feel about my aging face. It's a privilege to age I know and my ex dying has brought home how previous life is. My head is a mess at the moment. Food delivery today with Greek yogurt and red pepper hummus for protein and good fats.
I'm waffling. As you were.

PatienceOfEngels · 24/08/2024 17:45

Feeling so bleurgh atm. Allergies playing up and feeling really stressed and anxious (just started back at work after summer break). Even though I feel like I'm eating pretty well I feel really bloated and sluggish.

My daily walks have fallen a little by the wayside the last few days though till doing my daily yoga.

Made a lovely fish pie yesterday.

Today:
-boiled egg and rye toast, coffee
-greek yoghurt with banana and honey
-red pepper and cheese omelette
-piece of apple pie
-spinach and ricotta tortellini with a creamy spinach sauce, peas and sweetcorn

greenleaveseverywhere · 24/08/2024 21:13

What I ate today:

Breakfast- porridge with blueberries, peanut butter, jam and green powder

Lunch- (picnic) crisps, nuts, hummus

Snack - handful almonds

Dinner- half steak, half jacket sweet pot & stir fry veg

Snack- yoghurt with berries and muesli

Snack- 1 sugar free digestive

greenleaveseverywhere · 25/08/2024 13:29

Today I ate:

Breakfast-Bowl of muesli with banana and blueberries

Lunch-3 egg omelette with tomatoes, peppers mushrooms & spinach

Dinner- (will be) roast chicken & salad

Snack- (will be) yoghurt with jam, berries and cashews

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/08/2024 19:12

Evening all! August hasn’t been great on the diet and exercise front, though it’s been busy and fun. Starting to get more focused this week with a view to being full on ready to get cracking for September’s thread. Although I’m do have a tasting menu at a nice restaurant this weekend…

looking forward to getting back on the horse though and will try and up my posting come September to help with the accountability.

LemonDrizzle23 · 26/08/2024 20:39

Also very much looking forward to the start of September here. August has been a lot of fun, but not the healthiest in terms of eating and moving. Vaguely germy now. Think I'm just tired!

Looking at my happy scale data, I can see my weight has just constantly bounced up and down throughout June, July and August. I need to rededicate myself in September!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/08/2024 21:14

Sounds like we’re in the same boat @LemonDrizzle23 , I haven’t been on it since before I went on holiday in June! I find it especially hard in the summer, even one that’s been so lacking in sunshine and al fresco food and drink as this one!

I also start getting back into walking in the autumn, when we get bright crisp days. Looking forward to that, weather permitting!

greenleaveseverywhere · 26/08/2024 21:27

Not a bad day today...

B- bowl muesli with oat milk

S- date and nut bar

L- salad of spinach, leftover meat (steak & chicken), tomatoes, avocado

S- handful cashews

D- yoghurt, peanut butter, jam, berries & oats

LegoTherapy · 27/08/2024 06:37

Morning all. I'm not here for weigh in tomorrow but have 55.35kg this morning which is 8st 10lb. It's not the 54/8st 7lb I wanted to be for today but 3lbs is really neither here nor there. Considering the lack of school run in the holidays I've done well to maintain around the same weight especially considering my salt intake has been higher than normal.
I'll check in on Friday and see where I'm up to then.

PatienceOfEngels · 27/08/2024 08:30

Another one who is resetting after the summer holiday!

I've been back at work for a week and was really anxious and stressed whihc has affected me physically. Finally feel back in normal routine though and almost back to pre-summer break weight.

Still doing my daily yoga outside as it hasn't been raining and not too cold (though have moved from shorts to leggings). This morning it was dark at 6am and the moon was still up. The sun rose as I did my practice and then swallows were flying over head chittering as I finished. Being outside is definitely what brings me peace and energy so I must keep getting out there this winter!

Yesterday:
-boiled egg, rye toast with butter, coffee
-fruit plate (apple, pear, melon)
-leftover rice, peas, carrots with red wine gravy
-greek yoghurt and honey, small cake square from the staffroom!
-spaghetti bolognese

Today:
--boiled egg, rye toast with butter, coffee
-red pepper and carrot
-homemade flatbreads with halloumi, salad, tzatziki and sweet chilli sauce
-garlic chicken wraps with salad

Just been out for quick cycle for errands and will try and go for a walk later.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 27/08/2024 19:17

The outdoor yoga sounds great @PatienceOfEngels I’d love to get up early and exercise, but I can’t get myself out of bed! I also struggle to do more than a bit of flexibility / stretching on an empty stomach and don’t have time to have breakfast, digest it and exercise it before leaving for work at around 7.50am.

I did set my alarm for 6 to get up for a flexibility class today, but snoozed my alarm. However I manage a bodycombat class after work!

greenleaveseverywhere · 27/08/2024 21:54

I ate:

B- 2 ryvitas, 1 avocado, 2 boiled eggs, butter & marmite

S- 3 large rice cakes

L- rice, lentils, spinach, mayo

S- few cashews

D- steak, salad, few chips
