Following on from LOSE IT! July 2024

Schools out and Summer has finally arrived and it’s hot hot hot! And with it holidays, get togethers and family and friends having fun! Perhaps a time for being mindful that anything and everything is OK in moderation; whilst ensuring you get your water in (alternating with alcohol is an idea if a sesh is on the agenda) along with eating protein and healthy fats. It’s not a time for punitive regimes (although I never endorse that) or denying yourself. Enjoy the Summer and all its joys (we’ve waited long enough 😬) It’ll be September soon enough when we will start the Autumn Re-set!

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am now maintaining around 8st 12lb. I find this weight is sustainable and easy to maintain. If I can do it anyone can 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

@LegoTherapy
I've become slightly addicted to home made flatbreads. Mix self raising flour, salt and fat free Greek yoghurt into a dough, then roll out and pan fry. They are so delicious! Although I had them last night and feel like I over ate...

StellaCruella · 05/08/2024 12:39

This was yesterday -
Breakfast - 1 cup of coffee with oat milk
Thick slice of cantaloupe melon

Lunch - hot honey halloumi, spinach, sweet potato chunks, broccoli and mushrooms sautéed with garlic and butter.

Snack - 1 egg, 2 rashers of streaky bacon, small slice of seeded sourdough (didn’t finish bread).

Dinner - marinated chicken breast chunks, homemade flatbreads, salad leaves, tomatoes, tzatziki

2 x gin and lemon tonic

Not a great day but impressed no chocolate cravings so far.
So far today a banana, not sure about lunch and dinner at Pizza Express

greenleaveseverywhere · 05/08/2024 21:10

Ive eaten loads today.. but some good choices just sadly will be well out of a deficit

B- porridge with banana & peanut butter
S- croissant
L- beef mince, bean & veggie stew
S- calippo
D- salmon & roasted squash & pepper
S- yoghurt with almonds & berries

Approx 2300 cals🫣

Fellsbells · 05/08/2024 22:43

B- greek yoghurt, blueberries, chia seeds.
L- salmon, mixed veg, rice noodles.
D- Cabbage soup, chicken and lentils.
More yoghurt.

MFP says it’s less than 1000 calories so we’ll see what the scales say. My stomach is bloated today though.

Fellsbells · 05/08/2024 22:44

Also did 11k steps and 30mins weights work out.
Only drank water.

PatienceOfEngels · 06/08/2024 09:14

Yesterday - meals good, snacks not!

B - boiled egg, rye toast, coffee
L - chicken and salad wraps with garlic sauce
S-supermarket magnum, cheese and unsalted nuts
D-meatballs in red wine gravy with rice, sweetcorn and carrots
S- cheese and nuts, twirl bar, 2 chocolate hobnobs
Lots of water.

10,000 steps (pre-breakfast walk and then had to walk on spot in bathroom to get to my goal just before bed!).
50 minutes yoga outside before lunch (started a new 30 day programme from YWA - Breath).

Going to be very hot here today. Just about to go and pick up salad bits, fresh bread, olives, spread/dip, smoked salmon, chicken etc as don't want to have the oven/hob on this evening.

So much salt here....

StellaCruella · 06/08/2024 19:50

Yesterday -

Coffee oat milk
Banana

Cheeseburger, 1/2 portion of fries

1 bite birthday cake, 1 bite jelly sweet

Chicken caeser salad, no egg or croutons, 4 x dough balls. 3 x mini slices of pepperoni pizza

No idea how many calories, thousands I assume!

StellaCruella · 06/08/2024 19:51

Today -

Coffee oat milk

Pasta with fresh tomatoes, spinach, cream cheese, garlic and Parmesan

Chocolate brownie

Bowl of rice crispies with milk

1 bite of fish finger, 1 bite of chicken finger

1.5 southern fried chicken thighs

Homemade coleslaw- light mayo
3/4 baked sweet potato with butter

1 gin and lemon tonic

I've lost 2.5lbs since Saturday but I won't get any more off if I carry on like this, so need a better day tomorrow!

StellaCruella · 06/08/2024 19:52

Also need to up the exercise - haven't done nearly enough since we've got back from holiday.

PatienceOfEngels · 06/08/2024 20:06

You mean in my food?

PatienceOfEngels · 06/08/2024 20:08

That was to @Raisinsandweetabix

PatienceOfEngels · 06/08/2024 20:20

Managed my steps and 40 minutes yoga today. Feeling wiped out with 30 degree heat so lots of water.

LemonDrizzle23 · 06/08/2024 20:33

@PatienceOfEngels and @StellaCruella your meals sound wonderful. We've been very boring and sandwich based here by comparison.

Well I went on the treadmill for a slow walk for the first time in about three weeks since pulling my calf. No ill effects so far. I'm guessing I just have to gradually work things back up. Felt nice to move though.

Have also got to grips with my eating again. I've definitely gained which is disappointing. But good to have things back under control.

LegoTherapy · 06/08/2024 20:55

I've eaten a late lunch/dinner combo of homemade Victoria sponge with a cup of tea. Breakfast was homemade bread toast and raspberry jam with a cup of tea. I've walked 5 miles up hill and down dale and done a load of cleaning. I can't be arsed with proper nutrition today. I'll do better tomorrow.

I think someone missed the memo about how supportive this group is Hmm

Everyone else's meals always sound so balanced and adventurous compared to mine. Tomorrow will be halloumi and beetroot with possibly a homemade wrap for lunch. Breakfast toast again because the bread is freshly baked.

LemonDrizzle23 · 07/08/2024 07:56

Morning everyone - time for WOW here.

Well I've had a slow but definite gain over the last month of inactivity and over eating. Unsurprisingly!

August start weight 93.3kg. Hopefully I can get rid of that gain during August.

Good luck to everyone checking in!

GameOfJones · 07/08/2024 08:23

Hello all, checking in for WoW and 1lb lost so finally a new number at the start of the scales.

SW - 15st 1lb
CW - 13st 13lbs
TW: mini target to get to 13st 7lb (I'm celebrating each half stone as I go as have a lot to lose. My overall target weight is 11st.)

Intermittent fasting on roughly a 16-8 pattern is working really well for me. It has completely stopped my evening snacking and if I have alcohol I only have one drink as I run out of time to have a second one in my eating window. I don't feel hungry and I feel really clear headed and less bloated. Cutting down on UPFs is definitely helping and DDs are also eating fewer UPFs (I made their first UPF free packed lunches yesterday for holiday club and they ate it all. Little victories!)

Today's plan:

B - black coffee
L - avocado on sourdough toast, peach, yoghurt, pecans
D - vegetable stir fry

Fellsbells · 07/08/2024 08:28

@PatienceOfEngels I can’t see the salt issue! Sounds fine to me.

tmi, I am constipated! Tried stomach massages, water, eating loads of fibre, exercise, hoping for some movement today.

WOW
SW- 10st 10 (2.5 months ago)
CW- 9st 10
GW- 9st 6

yesterday’s food
B- fage, berries, chia, 2 eggs
L- veg soup, chicken, cottage cheese, lentils
S- gut shot
D- curry, rice, nann, lentils, cottage cheese

PatienceOfEngels · 07/08/2024 08:47

I know that I had too many snacks on Monday (so too much fat, salt, sugar and UPF) and yesterday wasn't much better as DC2 and I bought crisps to eat while playing cards in the shade (bit of a summer holiday ritual when it's too hot to do anything else!).

Yesterday:
-boiled egg, rye toast, coffee
-wholemeal baguette with olive oil and sliced tomatoes, soft cheese and pickled onions, aioli, butter, cucumber.
-cornetto and crisps
-picnic tea of sourdough with aioli, sun dried tomato tapenade, smoked salmon, crudités (pepper, tomatoes, cucumber), pickled onions, cold meat
-lots of water

wins for the day:
-no booze
-only drank water
-no eating after dinner
-10,000 steps
-yoga

WoW - not what I was hoping (but expected) -0.1kg...barely worth positing it!

SW 77kg (Oct 2023)
CW 73.6kg
GW 68kg

Was so close to GW in February and the last 6 months have been so up and down. I can't wait to start school again and get back into a routine. I know I have to be more consistent and disciplined.

Not sure of the plan for today but might make a quiche to have with salad. Already got half my steps in with a walk. Want to go and do yoga outside but very dark sky...looks like it's going to rain hard!

StellaCruella · 07/08/2024 09:01

@PatienceOfEngels those are some great wins. I need to drink more water, less gin and move more! Food wise I'm doing ok.

StellaCruella · 07/08/2024 09:05

My first WOW - 2lbs off.

SW - 12st 2
CW - 12 st
GW - 10st

MeAgainAndAgain · 07/08/2024 10:54

SW 107kg (Saturday 3rd)
CW 105kg
GW 75kg???

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 07/08/2024 11:46

Morning all. I forgot to WOW today, so will try and remember tomorrow, but it’s not been the healthiest weekend. Though lots of steps…

lots of posts in the last week so haven’t had chance to follow them all - sorry to hear about your situation @LegoTherapy, welcome to the newbies and we all have days when the snacks call our name @PatienceOfEngels . I’m currently munching a packet of quavers… 😬

LegoTherapy · 07/08/2024 12:26

Morning all, 55.9kg this morning. 8st 11lb I think. Well done to all the losers and to the gainers-just keep plodding on. One meal or snack at a time if need be but you've got this and will succeed.

MeAgainAndAgain · 07/08/2024 16:55

I know the approved standard is to lose 1-2 lbs (half to 1kg) per week, but in reality is that what people are doing?
