Following on from LOSE IT! July 2024

Schools out and Summer has finally arrived and it’s hot hot hot! And with it holidays, get togethers and family and friends having fun! Perhaps a time for being mindful that anything and everything is OK in moderation; whilst ensuring you get your water in (alternating with alcohol is an idea if a sesh is on the agenda) along with eating protein and healthy fats. It’s not a time for punitive regimes (although I never endorse that) or denying yourself. Enjoy the Summer and all its joys (we’ve waited long enough 😬) It’ll be September soon enough when we will start the Autumn Re-set!

If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am now maintaining around 8st 12lb. I find this weight is sustainable and easy to maintain. If I can do it anyone can 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

Hi everyone. Just finding the thread ahead of WOW tomorrow. I’m dreading getting on the scales, I put some trousers on today that were a bit uncomfortable, so not a good sign. I’ve had a really busy couple of weeks with lots of socialising, unhealthy food and nights out with alcohol so I’m hoping a bit of healthy living for a bit will reverse the damage!

I really need to get back on the exercise too, it’s gone to pot over the summer. I can’t even blame the heat, I live in Scotland…

I hope you’re ok @LegoTherapy sometimes you just need to do whatever it takes to get through the day.

Good luck to everyone weighing in tomorrow.

Fellsbells · 14/08/2024 07:13

My weight is the same as last week. It is hard work to get the last half a stone off. Hormones are making it more difficult this week too. Hoping next week will see a whoosh.

I don’t think I’ll hit my target by the date I wanted. But, I’ve come a long way. My BP is lower, resting heart rate is lower, my core is stronger, my back isn’t aching and my clothes fit better which is more important than just weight.

good luck for WOW

PatienceOfEngels · 14/08/2024 08:30

WoW -0.3kg. Weight still all over the place so fx it stays going in this direction.

Last 2 days have been really hot here. Though I stayed away from UPF snacks I still went for unsalted nuts and cheese. And yesterday I had about one million ice lollies.

Big thunderstorm last night and hopefully more rain later today and temperature at a more sensible 23.

Plan for the day:

B-boiled egg and rye toast, coffee
L-prawn and noodle salad
D-italian chicken salad

✅Morning walk
Yoga later

LemonDrizzle23 · 14/08/2024 08:38

Good luck to everyone doing WOW this morning. We are still tucked away in our holiday cottage with no scales, so I shall remain oblivious!

TheRealHousewife · 14/08/2024 08:44

Good Morning All

LegoTherapy · 14/08/2024 10:16

A slight gain here thanks to halloumi and salty snacks plus an irregular digestive system. I need to rein it in if I'm to hit my goal for 2 weeks time.
Well done on the losses!
I started doing weights for my arms two nights ago. I've been meaning to do it for a year! I'm hoping to tone them up. Dd did it with me and says she's going to get me doing bum ones too so she's got company to improve hers.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 14/08/2024 11:29

I concur about the final stretch @Fellsbells it really is tough. Great that you’ve seen so many improves in your physical health, I was really pleased on a long walk recently that my lower back was fine, it used to get very twingy, so all the strength and core work over the last year has made a difference to me.

Today’s WOW had be 2lbs higher than just before my holiday at the end of June. So given it has been a hectic and decadent summer I’m pleased with that.

Back to school for DC today signals a return to normality so fingers crossed I can get back on the healthy eating and exercise track.

today:

B - boiled egg, toast, tea
L - homemade roasted red pepper soup, some chicken for protein, satsuma, quavers
D - spinach and ricotta cannelloni (pinch of nom recipe)

exercise - re start strength exercise with a Les mills class.

Fellsbells · 14/08/2024 13:54

Thank you @TheRealHousewife, yes I do a little bit of strength training. I mostly use 3kg dumbells, sometimes 5kg if I can manage. 30 mins a day using youtube videos as a work out guide. It hasn’t been long so I can’t see a difference yet, but I can tell my core is stronger. The muscles are well hidden under fat, but they are firmer than a month ago.

TheRealHousewife · 14/08/2024 14:40

That is fantastic @Fellsbells That’s some weight to lift! 👍👏

OP posts:
Newname2308 · 14/08/2024 18:44

7/8 64 kg; 8/8 63.5kg
WoW 63.4kg
TW 56kg
Creeping downwards - i’m pleased. Last year I’d reached 70kg and was the upper side of 12/14. This week I ‘inherited’ a pair of size 10 trousers my DD has outgrown!

LemonDrizzle23 · 14/08/2024 19:01

@TheRealHousewife Yep, we've been right on the coast. It's been a wonderful few days and DS was so happy to be digging in the sunshine!

Back and unpacked and the washing machine is on...

Only 3 weeks of summer holidays left, and we have a million plans to squeeze in!

PatienceOfEngels · 14/08/2024 19:27

@LemonDrizzle23 I'm back to school on Monday 😭

greenleaveseverywhere · 14/08/2024 20:35

What I've eaten today:

Breakfast- yoghurt, blueberries, kiwi, protein powder, oats

Lunch- leftover home made lasagne

Snack- small bowl raw nuts

Dinner - chicken salad with slice of spanish omelette

Snack- watermelon sprinkled with oats

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 14/08/2024 22:12

Day 1 of getting back to normal has gone well. Comfortably with my calorie goal and completed a Les mills shapes class. It was a lot tougher than the last time I did it, but I knew it would be. Just need to keep it up and regain my fitness!

LemonDrizzle23 · 15/08/2024 06:34

@PatienceOfEngels The break is over so quickly isn't it? I need to remember to be a bit more relaxed next summer, and not overbook us.

Well done to everyone creeping downwards. A late WOW for me as we've been away. A loss of 0.5kg, so at least I'm heading downwards again after my recent gaining.

SW: 97.5
CW: 92.8
10%: 88

TheRealHousewife · 15/08/2024 13:21

Hey everyone! Can I join? I only have a little bit of weight left to lose, but on my frame I think it will make a huge difference and I keep yoyo-ing like crazy. I'm a mum of 2, working full time.

height 5ft 2.5 (ha the half counts when you're this short!)
CW: 9 stone and 11 lbs
GW: 9 stone 5 llbs

I have a big work conference at the end of August and I need to get a few lbs off before them as all my nice work clothes are tighter than they were in Spring argh! I just need a fresh start at I want to feel confident too. General plan is eating in calorie deficit.

Wishing everyone else loads of luck, thank you so much OP for setting this up it's fab!

Lunarvalleysinmymind · 16/08/2024 12:48

Does anyone weigh in daily? I think that helps me but then some really are against it. I think it keeps me accountable at night where I have my WORST munchies.

I do. I think it builds a balanced picture of the week as you can see your weight fluctuating, which is natural. I use smart scales and an app so it averages out the weeks readings.

I know some people don’t like to get too obsessed about the numbers on the scales, but I do love the data! I like seeing the graphs.

It also keeps me on track because I’m accountable every single morning. If I weighed once a week I’d probably go off the rails more thinking I could turn it around in a few days time.

Fellsbells · 17/08/2024 07:13

Finally the whoosh has happened! Only one pound to my goal.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 17/08/2024 08:58

Hi everyone. Back again. Have somehow managed to gain almost a stone which I’d like to lose.

Hoeecer, for a short period of time I’m also on anti depressants and so on so msybe they cause weight gain, no ifdes. Some here say no, some here say yes.

I will say though at hospital which has been approximately a month you get standard cereal and/or toast options, lunch is also a bit unhealthy lots of chips and fatty food. Then dinner at 5pm isn’t too bad but to help with medication you have supper. So eg toast or cereal. At home I’ll prob have rich 2 tea light biscuits as I need something to absorb the meds. Butt I’m also. On these for a short period of time..

Will post CW later on.

just had 7 decrees toasf with peanut butter and marmite, 3 cups of tea with skimmed milk and a slice of cuffed and walnut cake.
