Following on from Joyous June 2024

Crumbs how can it be July already? 😮 Anyways, a new month provides the opportunity to embrace a fresh new start & start new habits. If you’re a returner or a new starter feel free to jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost nearly 4 stones. After having been on the wrong side of 12st I am now maintaining around 8st 12lb. I find this weight is sustainable and easy to maintain. If I can do it anyone can 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes.

@AllTheNaps Be gentle with yourself, your body's been through a lot. It's good to get a grip of these things while they're relatively small though so well done for that. Enjoy your baby x

SkinnyMinnyInWaiting · 03/07/2024 22:19

Kitchen closed at 1500. First food 11.30. Last meal 6.30. Would like to narrow that window ideally.

2024Mm · 03/07/2024 22:48

I’ve eaten really poorly today. Combination of stress and tiredness

NothingTraLaLa · 04/07/2024 10:09

Thank you for the new thread @TheRealHousewife

A day late with my weigh-in, but I’m fairly pleased. After a few months of hovering around 117 lbs I seem to be finally losing a bit again. I’m happy with slow and steady as I’m close to target, but it was getting a little disheartening.

SW 128 lbs
CW 115.6 lbs
TW 112 lbs

ImALittlePea · 05/07/2024 07:21

STS this week. Would've preferred a loss, obviously, but I'm ok with that. Gunning for -2lb next week if I can 😬🤞

RadDarwazeh · 05/07/2024 08:13

Hi everyone! It's important to be gentle with yourself and feelings, we're not all going to have great days/weeks.

My loss has slowed this week so I'm also going to try better this week.

Spending today meal planning/prepping and cleaning the car...does that count as exercise?!

Have a lovely day, all!

PatienceOfEngels · 06/07/2024 07:46

Had a rough back end of the week with 2 late night work events and the usual end of school term craziness in 3 schools between us - but now me and the kids are finally on our 6 weeks holiday!

Doing my best to put my good intentions into action:

Getting outside every day (missed my early morning walk the last 2 days and can feel the difference in my body and my head) and getting my steps in.
Yoga everyday.
Water/herbal tea whole foods and 12 hour hour eating window.
Continue with no alcohol and coffee at breakfast only.
Journalling daily and staying off devices as much as possible.
Get the house and garden sorted out.
Take time to really rest and do things that bring me joy (reading, gardening, playing games, walking, listening to and playing music, cycling, artsy stuff).

Today I have a postponed haircut. Going to ask DC to write a list of things they'd like to do this summer.

Working on my stress levels is key for me, not just to losing weight but also feeling calmer and happier. Holidays are always a good moment for a reset for me.

Today:
-boiled egg and rye toast, coffee
-lunch??? maybe jacket potato or omelette or courgette fritters
-chicken fajitas (onions, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, cucumber, cream cheese, cheese, wraps, chicken)
-fruit for snacks

Already done a walk this morning. Will definitely get more steps in later in town. Will be the perfect time for a quiet walk this evening as everyone will be watching he football!

Do some yoga.

Have a good weekend everyone!

LemonDrizzle23 · 07/07/2024 14:44

I think I've had a reasonable food weekend. A glorious shakshuka for brunch out this morning, after the gym.

Have been painting walls this weekend and very put out how few calories my Apple Watch seems to think this burns 😂

Roast chicken, new potatoes and courgettes for dinner, and will be logging this week's meals on nutracheck.

Hope everyone has managed to see a little sun at some point this weekend!

PatienceOfEngels · 08/07/2024 05:16

Still struggling with post-dinner snacking. Saturday it was crisps in front of the football (the kids bought them but I should have stayed away!) and yesterday nuts and cheese.

So my main goal this week is to stick to a 12 hour eating window and only have water/herbal tea in the evenings.

Yesterday:
-banana pancakes and honey
-jacket potato with tuna/gherkins/cream cheese and cheese/butter
-slice of cake
-chicken and chickpea bhuna with rice and yoghurt

Getting my steps in and doing my yoga. Long walk planned this afternoon followed by an early meal out with a friend. Loving my early morning walks (just off out now before DH gets up).

Have a good week everyone.

33by33 · 08/07/2024 09:28

I've weighed myself today and it's a gain and I don't understand how 😣I've followed the exact same approach as I did in the first week where I lost 3kg/6.5lbs. I measure absolutely everything, even the milk in my one cup of tea, so there's no way I am consuming more than I should be. I do feel a bit bloated so I don't know if it's water retention or something. It's bloody depressing, either way.

GameOfJones · 08/07/2024 13:13

Hi all, I didn't have the best weekend food wise. I'm still sticking to my 16:8 fasting but yesterday I went to the gym in the morning during my fasting period and I was absolutely ravenous when we got home so ended up eating a coronation chicken sandwich, lots of crisps and a slice of cake! I've decided I need to plan better what I'll eat and have something nutritious ready to go for when I'm exercising plus fasting.

I'm also due on my period any day now and that always makes me hungrier so I'm focusing on trying to fuel myself with proper food this week.

Today:

I went to the gym this morning and had poached eggs on toast when I got home for brunch.

I'm currently having my snack which is a coffee with walnuts, brazil nuts, raspberries and some yoghurt.

Dinner is chilli con carne with lots of pulses and veg added. I'll have it with cauliflower rice to bulk it out. DH and DDs will have it with normal rice or tortilla wraps.

Newname2308 · 08/07/2024 21:45

I’m rejoining! Dropped off a few months ago when life got busy and I got complacent 🤣
Last autumn/winter I went from 70kg to about 63/64kg and plateaued.

8/7 64.9kg
TW 56kg

I’m back from holiday so getting straight back onto: IF 16:8, reduced alcohol (Fri/Sat), drinking more water, logging meals & fasting on Simple app. Not making any difficult rules for myself, but trying to just eat mindfully. I can’t completely ignore my sweet tooth!

WeirdPookah · 09/07/2024 10:02

Went out Friday, had pizza, went out Sunday had a chicken burger!

Yesterday, all on plan. Today going well.

B: black bean burrito
L: hard boiled egg salad
D: veggie burger on thin, salad

GameOfJones · 09/07/2024 22:07

A good day today.

L - avocado on sourdough toast, raspberries
S - yoghurt, peach, nuts
D - baked sweet potato with cottage cheese and spring onion
E - 30 mins on the exercise bike and 15,000 steps

Really hoping for a loss on the scales in the morning, but feeling good either way 🤞🏻

LemonDrizzle23 · 10/07/2024 07:15

WOW time.

It's stay the same for me this week. I was about to come on here all indignant, but looked back at my Apple Watch data and have only met my exercise and calorie goals twice since last WOW. So that probably has something to do with it! That and snacks sneaking in.

Try harder next week. Hope everyone has a good WOW!

GameOfJones · 10/07/2024 07:24

WoW for me too and 1lb down. I was hoping for more but it is (very) slowly coming off. I'm desperate to get into the next stone bracket though!

SW: 15st 1lb
CW: 14st
GW: 11st

Intermittent fasting 16:8 is going well, often it's more like 18:6. I am feeling really, really good on it regardless of whether it's resulting in weight loss so it's something I'm going to try to keep up for the other associated health benefits.

Good luck for WoW everyone.

talkingdeadscot · 10/07/2024 09:38

Morning all. WOW

SW - 93kg
GW - 55kg
CW - 62kg

A 0.4kg loss for me this week taking me to 62kg or 9st 10.5lbs. Sooooo slow but as long as it's in the right direction I'll keep plodding on. Anyway, what's the alternative?

Hope everyone sees the losses they want, keep going, you know it's worth it.

WeirdPookah · 10/07/2024 13:40

Yesterday was ok, not great on the exercise front, I am still feeling wheezy from being ill and the humidity is awful.

Batch cooked a bean stew, prepped dinner.

B: kidney bean burrito
L: tahini sriracha lentils with cabbage and leek
D: minestrone, pesto, chicken

PatienceOfEngels · 10/07/2024 19:56

Wow +0.7kg Oh well! I know I'm having too many treats creeping in but my meals are fairly healthy, drinking lots of water and reducing stress through exercise, yoga and being outside.

SW 77kg
CW 72.4kg
GW 68kg

Taking Dr Chatterjee's advice (his summer special podcast was good) and trying to do my exercise outside. As well as my (usually) pre-breakfast walk round the neighbourhood to help get my steps in, I've done yoga in the garden the last 2 nights, and went for a swim in the outdoor pool today.
Have also tried to do some arm exercises with a resistance band in front of the TV the last few nights.

B- boiled egg and rye toast, coffee
S- nectarine, banana, greek yoghurt and honey
L-flatbread with chicken, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, garlic sauce
S-ice cream on my walk back from swimming
D-hot dogs in rolls, onions, with salad
S- football related snacks! Dutch tompouce, strawberries and cream (divided loyalties as I have dual citizenship 😂), alcohol free beer, crisps.

WeirdPookah · 11/07/2024 19:36

Been for a short walk today, been dealing with feeling hugely down and sad and not wanting to do anything.

B: kidney bean burrito
L: minestrone, 1 slice toast
D: roasted vegetables, chickpeas and Turkish curd cheese

rainbow616 · 11/07/2024 20:12

@WeirdPookah sorry you're feeling like that 😢 hope things get better soon x

PatienceOfEngels · 12/07/2024 08:10

Big hugs @WeirdPookah

I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere with my weight. I'm eating healthy meals but sabotaging myself by doing things I know make me feel shit (like 'treating' myself to crisps and 0% beer during the football and then feeling physically awful the next morning because of the salt/evening eating.

Doing good things movement and head-wise wise though - 25mins yoga outside for the last 3 days. Doing at least 10,000 daily steps for the last month bar a few days. Resistance band exercises for arms in the evening in front of the TV. Swim this week. Daily journalling. Daily morning walk.

Just need to stop eating crap!

Plan for today
-boiled egg and rye toast, coffee
-banana, greek yoghurt, cherries, apple
-sour dough bruschetta with roasted peppers, tomatoes, cream cheese
-roast chicken drumsticks, baked potato with sour cream and spring onions, corn on the cob (DH's choice of meal today) followed by apple pie.

Exercise - yoga WA video (currently raining so will have to be inside), get my steps in, arm & wrist exercises.

rainbow616 · 12/07/2024 08:14

I've lost a pound this week. It's the lightest I've been in a long time, but I'm still disappointed. I've been doing the 5:2 diet for four weeks now and I've lost 8lbs. I know that's not bad as it's 2lbs a week, but just feel like it should be a bit more. I'm unsure as to whether I should just try and lower my calories each day next week and not do the two fasting days or whether to carry on...unsure! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

SW 13st 5.4lbs
CW 12st 7.2
GW 12st (by 16th August)

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/07/2024 11:44

Hello! I’m back from my 3-week hols, so just wanted to get this back on my threads ahead of me knuckling down again in a few days.

at present the scales suggest I’m about half a stone up, but I’m jet lagged and there’s a lot of water retention going on as evidenced by my puffy ankles so I’m going to leave it a couple of days before recording a proper weigh in. I wasn’t too bad food wise while on holiday. And while there was wine or beer every day, it wasn’t especially boozy, so I hope that and the circa 30K steps most days will have helped. I’m definitely feeling a bit flabby after not doing any strength or conditioning training for the last month too so need to get back on the exercise wagon too.

GameOfJones · 13/07/2024 08:12

@rainbow616 I think 8lb is 4 weeks is an amazing weight loss! In contrast, I've lost 15lbs since January!!
