So as we are about to embark into 2024 and our year of fabulousness time for a new thread.

I’m going to begin in earnest next week when the gym is back open but I’m not eating as much this week and mucking out every day for fitness . Weirdly I’ve gone off sweet stuff, long may it last

I signed up for a half marathon in Sept Shock
Bought the trainers in Nov 22, said I'd start when I got under 12st, I'm there comfortably now so here it goes

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/02/2024 07:32

14.02 First Peloton Beginner's class and warm-down under my belt.

I'm purposefully not berating myself for being unfit, I'm acknowledging that I've started something.

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/02/2024 12:06

Well done hack. Fitness will come

19.02 133.2lbs No losses but no gains.

I've finished my first week of the Beginners programme on the Peloton. So saddle sore (I must find padded shorts) that I need to try a different type of class today.

I am getting a lot from such ready access to exercise that is structured and I can do in 10, 20, or 30 min bursts.

Happierwithouthim · 19/02/2024 14:02

The rules my endocrinologist imposed at end of Oct, haven't been followed strictly since end of Dec, so it's time to get back to it properly.

Porridge for breakfast, this I've stuck to rigidly
Salad/Sandwich for lunch
Dinner
Treat once per week, go out for it don't buy the stuff in.

Today - Day 1
Porridge for breakfast
Salmon Salad with a tbsp of coleslaw for lunch followed by a pear.
Dinner, probably beef stir-fry

I've started back to running, have made half hearted efforts last number of weeks but going to follow a plan now. Did couch25k week3 on Sat, and it was no challenge so I did week4 yesterday, going to do this again tomorrow evening and Fri morn and move on to week5 on Saturday hopefully.

Hack do you find you'll say to yourself I've this number of minutes free and jump on and use it?

That's it, exactly. If a half day meeting ends 20-30mins early, I know I can change my top, put on the shoes and be on the bike for a scenic ride. You can go through and bookmark or stack together items you like. For example, if I've looked at a class plan and know it will push me, I'll do the class, stack a 10min warm down after that and finish with a separate 5mins warm down into the 5 min stretch.

You can just do a 10mins and off or you've got something that will fit the time available.

It's been my turn to turn a family member several times during the night. Depending on how long it takes, I might pop on the bike for something to empty my mind for a few minutes before going to bed. Or I might decide it's only 40mins until I would get up anyway, so why not do a lovely ride through Scotland or Norway to set me up for the day, IYSWIM.

@2024Hackathon so glad you’re loving it!!
I also haven’t really been following my plan for 6-8 weeks now as I’ve had all the travel and disruptions and have been making excuses so I’ve basically been gaining and losing the same 2-3 pounds. Need to crack on now.

happier that food sounds lovely

Happierwithouthim · 07/03/2024 19:08

Where's everyone?

2024Hackathon · 07/03/2024 19:15

I'm here. Persevering with Peloton despite the state of my sit-upon bones.

Weight not moving but I haven't radically changed my calorie count so that's to be expected. I didn't gain anything on last week's business trip so that's a positive.

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/03/2024 08:14

Under a pile of chocolate and carbs getting fatter 😂

i was going ok gym wise, less so food not come down with ds as germs yesterday

Scales are stubborn for me but my diet has become less clean too, I need to get a grip, I did buy the makings of salad in the shopping this week and a big bag of carrots and a head of broccoli so there will be veg with all my dinners.

My 'ahem' movements have been upset since Sat eve, appetite not affected.

I'm getting the copper coil today so will be kind to myself today and sort my shit out after that.

I'm back doing couch 2 5k but missed all of last week, tried on Tues, fail, so went yesterday and did well, today is rest day and depending on how sore I am after coil I hope to go again tomorrow. I skipped a few weeks as I'd been doing a bit of running so I'm on week 6 of 9 now three weeks in.

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/03/2024 15:15

Definitely be kind to yourself today happier.

OP posts:
Happierwithouthim · 08/03/2024 15:22

I work with someone who has had both types of coil inserted and is pain adverse, and she told me it was no bother. It definitely was a bother and I'm still having cramping hours later Sad

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/03/2024 18:45

Yeah she lied

OP posts:
Happierwithouthim · 08/03/2024 19:16

She totally led me up the garden path. I was taken back over 10 years to when they broke my waters to hurry ds along & the immense pain that followed.

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/03/2024 07:38

I have to do labour like breathing for mine. The keep saying about anesthetiser but never got it. However the long term benefits hopefully will outweigh how you feel now. They do for me. And have a huge hug

OP posts:
Happierwithouthim · 09/03/2024 09:06

Thanks life cramping has eased off now. Hopefully that's it for 5 years!

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/03/2024 10:24

Hope you are feeling better today

OP posts:
Happierwithouthim · 10/03/2024 23:02

Thanks life cramping again in last hour or so but good otherwise. Went swimming today but haven't run since it was done. Planned run for after work tomorrow but now there's a yellow rain warning so I might just do a session of training for voluntary work I do.

Gensola · 11/03/2024 06:28

Sounds horrible happier - glad to hear you’re feeling better 💐

132.8 today after 2 weeks of hell at work not tracking and drinking wine!
Back on it now for my holiday in Rhodes in April. I think my body is “set” at 133 as I keep returning here when I take my eye off the ball. I have told my PT I’ll stay with him til end of June, my goal is 120 by then so it should be doable if I stop messing about!

With moving house etc in summer things will be crazy so I want to be at goal by then and hopefully just try to maintain.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/03/2024 07:04

Sorry work is hell gen. I need to get back on it. It hotel living for 3 days and got cold. Will just do some weights in the gym gentle like.

stay safe in the storm

OP posts:
Happierwithouthim · 16/03/2024 14:26

Weigh ins haven't been going my way & I've had an upset digestive system for two full weeks now, I've had to cut out metformin as a result.
My food hadn't been great and neither has my exercise. I'm improved on food this week and scales rewarded me 11st10.75lbs or 164.75lbs, which is a drop Grin

2024Hackathon · 16/03/2024 14:48

16 March 2024 133lbs

Not shifting scales but still enjoying the Peloton.

However, from tomorrow, I'm altering what I eat for 3 days.

Gensola · 16/03/2024 14:53

Well done happier - sorry to hear you haven’t been well though

@2024Hackathon glad you’re enjoying the Peloton! What is your new plan for food?

I am 130.6 today and absolutely need to stop mucking about and actually do something.
