So as we are about to embark into 2024 and our year of fabulousness time for a new thread.

I’m going to begin in earnest next week when the gym is back open but I’m not eating as much this week and mucking out every day for fitness . Weirdly I’ve gone off sweet stuff, long may it last

Where are ye headed to?
I hope that there will be bikini days in my future again.

Happierwithouthim · 07/06/2024 11:59

A side effect of my hormones getting back to normal is the hair on my legs are growing, up to now, waxing twice a year would suffice!

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/06/2024 18:53

Albufara in Portugal in Aug

time yet to size back down. Assuming I start to take it seriously

Yes you've time

Still pleased with Peloton. I keep checking just how good my cardiac recovery is as I can't quite believe that a few months has had this impact.

I am, of course, remarkably weight stable (allowing for periodic bounces). I'm trying to be impressed by the fact that cycling > 100 miles a week can be done on so few calories. I note, however:

  • it's an indoors, stationary bike
  • lots of people can knock out 100 miles + in part of a day, not split over a week
  • I'm trying to do this within the Power Zone programme that recommends rest days and I try to abide by this.
Happierwithouthim · 09/06/2024 10:53

11st 6.25lbs this morning
Did parkrun yesterday, I wasn't feeling great so my first parkrun result isn't great but I got through it

2024Hackathon · 15/06/2024 14:21

Weight stable despite wretched bout of food poisoning (not my food) and riding 500 miles in the last 4 weeks.

I need to give it another month and then consider if there's something I can reasonably change that isn't going to add a substantial stress to my life.

I read Susan Chan's story yesterday, who knows where your Parkrun may eventually lead you. (Fell into running and became an ultra marathoner.)

life and Gen - I hope that you're making progress with wherever you are in the general path to your goals!

Happierwithouthim · 15/06/2024 15:47

It was pouring rain this morning so I didn't do parkrun this weekend either.

Mon 3.5miles run planned on 6 miles
Wed 4 mile fast walk
Sun will be long run I hope

Happierwithouthim · 15/06/2024 15:48

Scales not moving but TOM so that's ok

Gensola · 15/06/2024 16:04

Thanks hack I had a second round of surgery this week on my leg so still very sedentary but weight stable.
Hoping to start exercise in 2 weeks time and lose 20 pounds - my GW is 110-112 range, to allow for fluctuations but with the idea that if I see 112/113 I reign it in.

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/06/2024 19:27

I was doing really well until I caught ds cold and not been since wed. Walked to the office and back thurs (5 miles both ways)
blooming cold. Restart Monday

rest up gen
sorry to hear you are sick hack

On Saturday I bounced up 4lbs. Sunday, I dropped 2lbs and today I'm back at the usual anchor point.

However, it has served as a reminder that things could be worse. And maybe I should acknowledge that from where we were in 2020, I've managed to change our financial situation from debts I didn't know about to enough to pay off the mortgage. (Yes, I still have my apprehensions but that's not this thread other than to acknowledge it probably drains my other resources.)

Peloton is helping me to feel better abut my activity levels and is improving my cardiovascular system. I'm finishing my current training programme in 3 weeks and then I'll look to re-do the strength programme.

2024Hackathon · 17/06/2024 08:03

life - viruses and bugs are laying people low at present. I hope everything has worked its way through so that you're feeling OK to start today.

gen - best of luck for the post-surgery rehab and mobilisation. Well done for being weight stable.

happier - I hope things are working well for you.

Gensola · 17/06/2024 08:29

@2024Hackathon do you have a sense of what caused the bounce? I find a carb heavy meal is enough to add 2 or even 3 pounds to the scales.

I am trying a slow walk to town this morning (15 mins usually, so maybe 20 mins at my new very slow pace!)

life hope you feel better 💐

are you still on the injections happier?

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/06/2024 15:17

Still feeling urgh and eating the world

good the peloton is helping hack
hope the walk went well gen

I am gen I'm seeing my endocrinologist in august and I hope we'll be discussing finishing up on them.
I haven't been taking metformin since end of feb though as it's affecting my tummy so the pharmacist recommended calling endocrinologist to see if she'll prescribe a lower dose or something different

Four PB's this evening, I prefer a morning run however so I'm delighted with all this!

Life how did you do that walk with lurgy, I'd be found somewhere!

Scales not great here but TOM so I'm not fussed. Put on a belt at the weekend, I'm four notches in since I bought it. Grin

Half a lb off this week but my summer clothes from 2019 fit again Grin

Gensola · 23/06/2024 07:26

Wow happier, 7 miles! That’s impressive. I am starting to build my fitness up from now - charged my Apple Watch and will start with 10,000 steps a day as my legs are still stiff and sore post surgery so don’t think I can hit the gym just yet.
It’s a good feeling to get into clothes that were previously too small, too 😁
I have a facial/massage booked today for my bday pressie from DH and dinner out tonight. Should be a nice day!

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/06/2024 08:24

I did have a wobble later
I’m not convinced it’s lurgy now. Memo and hay fever

good luck gen

i don’t know where to restart. So over whelmed. Actually stepping inside the gym would be a start.

Same old bounce.

Lots of business travel next week.

Still trying to be rational and celebrate weight stability as better than one of the options.

Happierwithouthim · 01/07/2024 16:41

Came back from hols where we walked loads and ate very healthily, saw the flucation from air travel etc on scales on Fri eve, it had started diminishing by Sat eve and I was away from my scales since so I'm interested to see what will show up tomorrow morning. Clothes feeling the same, hoping scales will be too.

I ate fruit every day for breakfast first following by hot breakfast items/continental items/pancakes. Lunch consisted of salads/tacos with lots of salad/burrito bowls. We didn't have any fried food at all so I'm trying to keep that up.

I usually have just my soluble vitamins in the morning and then porridge at 10/11am. Today I had porridge at 6:30am and then fruit and yogurt at 11am, salad box at 1pm and I'm hungry for my dinner now.

Happierwithouthim · 02/07/2024 20:34

Just after flight bloat disappeared I've PMS bloat to deal with.

12st0.5lbs Sat morn
11st8lbs this morn, so 2.25lbs heavier than before hols at the moment.

Gensola · 03/07/2024 17:11

That’s not too bad happier, sounds like you handled the holiday really well!
we are on a mini break now and I’m eating all the carbs 😂 back home tomorrow to face the music
