CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN EDITION.

8 week countdown to Christmas. November brings a fresh new month to become a healthier version of yourself. If you’re up for being your best self in time for the festivities you’ve come to the right place.

These threads are for those who’d like to stay healthy, lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and to exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 8st 12lbs. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back (mainly) on track. I Would love to wave bye to another few lbs 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - Positive thought:- If you were to lose on average of a 1lb - 2lbs per week you could be a half a stone to a stone lighter by Christmas 🎄🥳

Have a fantastic Christmas you lovely lot! 🎄🎄😃🎄🎄😃

55.2kg this morning. I'm ok with that.

ImALittlePea · 25/12/2023 09:29

Happy Christmas to all of you lovely losers ☺️❤️ I'm so far from good choices now I think my scales may have disowned me! 🤭 But I'm happy, still fitting comfortably (ish) into my size 10s, and already figuring out my plan for when the festivities are over. January will be a full on reset, I know I'll be ready and my target will be to get back to my early summer lowest weight by my birthday in April. It'll probably be about half a stone to lose (maybe more, hopefully not 😬🤞) but I'll deal with it then.

In the meantime, I'm on potato duty today so I'm off to do a tonne of peeling. I hope everyone has a nice day, hugs to those who need it and cheers to all! See you on the other side 🎄🥂✨

@JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots I really like that idea of seeing it as a present to yourself to be fitter, healthier, slimmer. Takes away the sense of denial and negativity

Newname2308 · 26/12/2023 17:18

Saw this and it perfectly describes my current status 😩
Hope everyone’s enjoying themselves and not feeling too worried about weigh ins for a few days. See you all on the January thread 💪

Hope everyone has had a happy Christmas and felt happy with their progress.

The last 24hrs have seen me eat far too much sugar which has a horrible effect on my mood and skin. I need to stop it now before I spoil all the progress I have made in the last 4 months. Sugar is so addictive to me and it’s easy to binge eat when the house is full of chocolates and treats.

I’m debating binning the half open boxes and donating the rest. If it’s not in the house I can’t eat it. I do not have the ability to have one chocolate and stop. I keep eating them until I feel sick with the sugar rush.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Good Morning Everyone

Hope you’ve all have a good time and survived all that Christmas can bring ❤️

Last official WOW of 2023 - 9st 3lbs 😳 Crumbs. It is what it is. I have eaten more than I usually do including having alcohol. I have totally enjoyed everything and have no regrets 😬. That said I’m looking forward to getting back into my normally healthy regime. I’m actually craving a large fresh salad or a hearty vegetable soup. Making a start today and hoping to have shaved a couple of lbs off by the 31st. Still around half stone lighter than this time last year so not a total disaster. I will weigh again on the 31st December.

@Novembershine I have noticed my skin has lost its bloom too and my joints/muscles are more painful than normal. It increases inflammation in the body. Sugar is very addictive as it releases dopamine in the brain. It’s the crack of the food industry!

@Newname2308 Love it! 😅

I will be posting a sparkly new thread for January 2024. Reset & Renew 👌

Morning all. 55.35kg this morning and I'm happy with that.
Going for a walk to my mum's later and I'll be glad of the exercise and fresh air.
Christmas has been very difficult due to dd1 but we have had a lovely time anyway. Not eaten much at all as just not interested. I think I've got the Christmas blues today so that walk is very much needed!
Hope everyone is doing ok.
Am looking forward to a shiny new thread for January and finding the weight I'm happiest at. I will need to learn how to maintain this next year. We go on holiday in February and that's something to look forward to.

DomesticElf · 27/12/2023 11:58

Merry Christmas, lovelies!

WOW post Christmas:
SW 70Kg
CW 59.5kg
GW 50kg

I'm happy with that! Despite running on chocolate and coffee, I managed to get into 50s. Let's see if this survives the new year's celebrations 🙈

LemonDrizzle23 · 27/12/2023 12:01

Morning all! How is everyone feeling the other side of Christmas? I hope you all had a lovely time!

We've had two days with my folks, eating absolutely delicious foods! I'm not going anywhere near scales til next weigh in Grin

We are entertaining the other side of the family today, so my hope is that most of the "Christmassy" food will be used up. Tomorrow will be back to real life food-wise. Apart from a box of after eights....

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 27/12/2023 16:09

Popping in to get this back on my threads in time for the January thread! Been nowhere near the scales, but motivated to get back on it once the new year celebrations are done!

wiltingflower · 27/12/2023 16:20

Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for the New Year!

Can't believe we're here at the end of December and that it's the last WoW!

SW: 62kg (July)
CW: 51.7kg
GW: 50kg

Next month I want to continue making healthy choices and maintain my progress.

Can't wait for the next thread! Thank you @TheRealHousewife for your consistency and positivity on these threads!

secondtimemumma · 27/12/2023 17:04

Hi all and Merry Christmas! Haven’t been on the thread for a couple of weeks and I really need to come back and hold myself accountable again! Im not going to weigh myself this week as I think I need a couple of days of being healthier before I do!

Thanks @TheRealHousewife for the new thread. I'll head over there soon. I'm debating a name change for the new year but can't settle on one yet.

I'm going to sit and eat sweets and watch the new Agatha Christie tonight. I'm enjoying allowing myself to go off course this week. Normal meals are out of the window and I need to make soup tomorrow. And more water. Lots more water! My bum hurts from sitting on it too much!

TheRealHousewife · 28/12/2023 09:31

Good Morning All

I had a weigh in this morning and already 1.5lbs down. Clean eating, rescue salads, hearty soups and increased water intake is the way to go for me.

@JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots Have you decided on your new name yet? What about bouncingbabeincowgirlboots? 😬

Menu
Meal 1 - Broccoli omelette. Half portion minestrone soup.
Meal 2 - Salmon fillet, peas, carrots and kale. Dill cream sauce.
Tea, black coffee and water water water 💧

I've gained 1.7lb overnight due to salty food that I don't normally eat. How bloody rude! It'll be gone soon I'm sure. Need to get out for a walk today. I'm bored of sitting around watching tv. I need to make soup today too. I meant to do it yesterday but didn't get round to it. I think today will be the last day of eating Christmas things and I'll get back to normal tomorrow. I need to buy raspberries and get a compote made. I can't say I've even enjoyed the Christmas stuff much.

@TheRealHousewife it's been very quiet lately hasn't it. Hopefully everyone is doing ok.

TheRealHousewife · 29/12/2023 10:39

@JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots Yes it is rather quiet on here. Unusual. You’ll soon see off that itsy bitsy gain 👍. I’m more or less back to normal eating habits. Beef curry is from left over topside joint but I’m having it with veg rather than rice. Then there is no more Christmas Fare left in the house.

Morning Everyone 😊🎄

I'm definitely feeling like I need to get back on track today! Thanks @TheRealHousewife for the much needed motivation! So far today I've only eaten biscuits or chocolates - feeling like I may need to eat some veggies before I get scurvy! Does anyone else feel like they wake up with almost like a sugar hangover when they've eaten lots of choccies etc? Definitely feeling a bit rough today and veeeeery sleepy! Going to try and hit my water intake goal for today for sure! I've been terrible with water lately! Hope everyone is enjoying the rest of December and looking forward to seeing in 2024! We don't have much planned for new years - maybe some casual party food and a movie at home. Depends what DS will allow! Anyone have any nice plans? Xx

Newbornmum · 29/12/2023 11:45

@TheRealHousewife thanks for the new January thread btw :)

PatienceOfEngels · 29/12/2023 13:49

Back home from the UK today. Have spent a week eating too much bread and more of everything I usually don't eat/drink (chocolate, biscuits, cheese, crisps, fizzy drinks, pizza). Didn't go nuts but can definitely feel it. Managed to stay strong on no booze. Will see what the damage is tomorrow on the scales. Did manage to get out for several walks when we were there. Shattered from not as much sleep (kids up early and very windy overnight) and early morning to get to the Tunnel.

Now back home with a cup of herbal tea, and water bottle at the ready. Just got chicken casserole out the freezer for dinner, to have with rice and peas.

Need to get a shop in and restock us for fruit, veg and fresh meat. Have to think about what to pick up for NYD, NYE (and then it's my b-day). Up in Am*dam with the kids for a show tomorrow afternoon/evening so not sure when we'll be shopping.

After too many buffet teas, roasts and snacks I am really looking forward to some stews/pies with lots of vegetables.

Thanks for the new January thread @TheRealHousewife . That salmon looks lovely.

@Newbornmum I definitely get a junkfood hangover if I eat loads of processed/beige food/crisps etc. It was one of the things that has made me rethink my diet and stick to it the last few months. Now when I go back to it I feel even worse than I did before and it's helped me finally stop it.
