CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN EDITION.

8 week countdown to Christmas. November brings a fresh new month to become a healthier version of yourself. If you’re up for being your best self in time for the festivities you’ve come to the right place.

These threads are for those who’d like to stay healthy, lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and to exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 8st 12lbs. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back (mainly) on track. I Would love to wave bye to another few lbs 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - Positive thought:- If you were to lose on average of a 1lb - 2lbs per week you could be a half a stone to a stone lighter by Christmas 🎄🥳

Good morning! My first WOW.
SW - 61.2 kg
WOW - 58.3 kg
Lost 1.6 kg this week, it is only my 2nd one so it is bound to slow down. Really happy so far.
I had cake past 3 days, no more left thankfully. House is full of sweets since kids brought massive amounts yesterday. They are out of reach though on top of the fridge, that may help.😀

TheRealHousewife · 01/11/2023 09:14

@ILikeItHere Fabulous loss 👍👏Now keep going 😬

Some great losses today-well done!
@TheRealHousewife it was the fact he was so obviously happy for me and not saying it any kind of jealous or unpleasant way. I've found when women I know say anything it's always in a suspicious questioning jealous kind of way that puts my back up.
@Bikechic don't beat yourself up, you're not a fraud. I've totally dropped the ball the last few months but I'm determined to keep it up now. You can do it!

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 01/11/2023 10:14

Count me in, I was on last thread yesterday.

Lunch yday:-

oxtail soup with 1 slice olive bread with olive spread
cucumber batons
3 x Quorn mini eggs

snacks:- bbq hula hoops and twix
2 x tangerines

dinner:- cheese omelette, small jacket potato and baked beans.

This morning 30g porridge oats with skimmed milk and 80g blueberries

For me with my old porridge serving that’s the downside with Weightwatchers. You do get into a habit of weighing everything.

NothingTraLaLa · 01/11/2023 10:19

As I’ve been away in Italy eating my own body weight in nice food, I did consider not weighing or posting today. But then I read the introductory post by @TheRealHousewife again and honed in on the need to be honest.

Just before I went away I hit my target weight of 119 lbs; five days later and I’m weighing 122.2 lbs. It’s not all going to be water weight but here’s hoping that some of it is and that it comes off as quickly as it went on.

SW 128 lbs
CW 122.2 lbs
TW 119 lbs

MarzipanKnees · 01/11/2023 10:38

I just measured my waist and I’ve lost three inches since I started this! I’m really happy with that.

icingonthecake7 · 01/11/2023 11:24

May I also join?

4 months post partum and as my username suggests have a massive sweet tooth which has been my downfall whilst breastfeeding!

breakfast this morning was a piece of toast with salmon, egg and avocado (yesterday I had a slice of dates cake so already feels like progress 😂)

current weight 85.5kg
target weight: 68kg (obvs not by Christmas but will take any loss and increased energy levels)

joined a local gym and will try to get some more exercise in. Planning to cut processed sugar for this month and just increase activity.

We can do this 💪🏾

sadie93 · 01/11/2023 11:31

I maintained this week. That's okay. I was visiting family who are doing a lot of renovation works so trying to stay in my routine was really hard (and I ended up coming home 3 days early because I couldn't stand it anymore) but I did try my best so I guess maintenance is a win.

Continuing to count calories and hopefully will be down 1lb next Wednesday. 🤞

Total loss so far: 7.2lb

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 01/11/2023 11:44

CW:- 10 stone 10lb
TW:- 10 stone

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 01/11/2023 11:46

Considering after covid last lockdown I was over 11 stone, approx 11 stone 4/5 llb I’m fairly happy with where I am.

PatienceOfEngels · 01/11/2023 13:03

B- boiled egg and slice of rye toast
Sn- apple, pineapple, cucumber
L-spiced butternut squash soup and a slice of homemade pumpkin pie
D - breaded chicken with fried potatoes and green beans (DH's night for cooking!)

I need to be more consistent this month to keep on track, but currently trying to be kind to myself as all I want to do is sleep! (PMT)

Tryingtosuceed · 01/11/2023 13:13

My first WOW and I’ve put on 1lb. Which is okay as I’ve had birthday cake and biscuits this week and haven’t drink much water.
this thread is motivating me to get back on it and be able to post a loss next week.
I’ve just started hula hooping too which I’m proud of.

ThriceInALifetime · 01/11/2023 13:29

SW- 11 St 6Ib
CW- 11St 1Ib

Have put on another pound which I'm not surprised as had a work's leaving lunch yesterday with lot's of food. Also been eating too many snacks.
Have started exercising a bit, going to really get back into it as feeling better.

Thanks for all the support, this thread is definitely motivating me to try at least!

secondtimemumma · 01/11/2023 13:32

Can I join please?

(I am also on another weight loss thread too but I’ve not been that active on there and weigh in on Wednesdays will work well for me. )

I’ve had a bit of a wake up call this week and realised I’ve been in denial about my weight for a long time… possibly years. I am fairly okay at losing some initial weight when I put my mind to it but it’s continuing that trend that’s the problem.

For the first time in a while I checked what my ideal weight should be (previously too scared) and I’m approx 5/6 kilos off so it’s not too bad but as mentioned previously I need some accountability to keep going with this.

Ive also taken some time to reflect on where I’m going wrong and here are my main slip ups:
-Portion control!!
-not sticking to healthy foods and drinking calories on the weekends
-emotionally eating- if I’m sad/happy I turn to food!

On the plus side my diet has lots of home cooked meals and fruits/vegetables already!

so my plan is a whole foods diet avoiding processed food as much as I can, stop drinking alcohol at home, really be mindful of portions. I will also be doing intermittent fasting.

Starting weight: 75kg
Current weight: 70.4kg
Target weight: 65kg

Looking forward to keeping motivated and accountable with you all 😊

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 01/11/2023 14:35

I lived on all the carbs when breastfeeding. Mainly chocolate hobnobs, chocolate and pizza. I go off chocolate when pregnant and make it for it when breastfeeding. My youngest finally gave up feeding when he was 4.5 years old, dd2 was 3.5 yo, dd1 15 months. I only gained a stone with each of them (thanks to nausea and lack of appetite) and was back to my starting weight the day of delivery (yep, saddo here weighed herself). It was afterwards I could eat for England 😩 and kept eating for England once they stopped feeding. When married I didn't look after myself and are soooo much shite but got my revenge body when exH left. I was single and still am for the past few years and gave up on my body but I've claimed it back for me now. I'm getting healthier for me. Looking good for me. No man to judge, just me. It feels great 😄 It's great time have you all here doing the same. Despite the ups when we hope for downs, the plateaux, the temptation, and all the carbs on offer we are rocking this! Let's kick some lard!

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 01/11/2023 14:36

Oh and I still love and eats all the carbs. They aren't the devil but I control them these days rather then them controlling me.

Newname2308 · 01/11/2023 16:14

Joining from the previous thread 👍
I’ve been very slowly making my way down from 70kg just by using the Better Me app (logging meals, daily weighing, daily short workouts etc), and I think I need to kick start that habit again. It’s working, but I think I got complacent/bored!

SW early Sept 70kg
31/10 66.9kg
TW 60kg

I can see the beginnings of a noticeable change (mainly my belly not as bloated), but not really sure how much I’m imagining. If I can lose another 3kg over the next 2 months I’ll be delighted.

2Early4Breakfast · 01/11/2023 17:41

WoW - 111.4 kg. Haven't lost since last week. I'm re-committing myself to intermittent fasting with nothing after 7pm, minimal sugar, more salad, and making more effort around the house and garden. My aim is to lose one pound every five to seven days.

alloutofcareunits · 01/11/2023 17:50

Can I join in? Got weighed this morning and was 11st 1 pound. Christmas target is under 10st 7, target 9st 12. I need to give up refined sugar as once I start eating I cannot stop

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/11/2023 20:26

Just posted this on last month's thread by mistake... 🙄

Starting the month at 10st 10, would love to be at 10st 4 by Christmas. Not the best day today as had a work lunch that made low calorie options impossible, but I did opt for things that would be good for gut health so that was something... No time for exercise either, but I walked back to the office instead of getting a cab so I could get some steps in. Good luck everyone!

DomesticElf · 01/11/2023 21:22

First weigh in of November - 65kg. So no net loss over past 2-3 weeks. Ugh.
To be fair, the wheels came off the wagon last week as there was birthday cake involved, hopefully back to the grindstone now.

So here we go:
SW: 70kg
CW: 65kg
GW: 50kg

DomesticElf · 01/11/2023 21:23

I really need to reduce carbs, but I love them so much! Sweet stuff is easy, I don't particularly care for it, but I love my bread and potatoes and pasta 😭

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 01/11/2023 21:30

So far today I’ve had 1 rich tea biscuit.
4 treat bags of Maltesers and 1 large bag of Pop Chips

lunch:- carton of broccoli and cheddar cheese soup
3 x Ryvita with spread
2 x Quorn mini eggs
cucumber batons

Dinner:-

cod fishcake with mashed potato with butter and broccoli and carrots

2 x tangerines

Camomile tea, tea with skimmed milk, water with orange squash

exercise 1 lap of park (just under a mile)

@JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots - I wish I could blame children for putting on weight but in peri menopause/menopause I blame that! I did put on the corona stone over lockdown.

Carbs are indeed the devil but when I was at SIL’s the other day I saw some nice Cornish cheese (M&S or Waitrose) in the fridge, just a small bit and I wolfed that down but did replace it!

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 01/11/2023 21:33

@DomesticElf - try to halve portion sizes of carbs or say replace bread with Ryvita at least during the week. Or get a lentil or other healthier pasta. I’ve got a nice Weightwatchers recipe for veggie lasagne which I can share if that helps?

I’ve also tried to swap to Pop Chips and the Eaten Path pea/lentil snacks rather than have crisps (still love BBQ flavour hula hoops though) which help and feeds the carb craving.

I am the same @DomesticElf . Love savoury stuff particularly carbs!
