CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN EDITION.

8 week countdown to Christmas. November brings a fresh new month to become a healthier version of yourself. If you’re up for being your best self in time for the festivities you’ve come to the right place.

These threads are for those who’d like to stay healthy, lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and to exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 8st 12lbs. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back (mainly) on track. I Would love to wave bye to another few lbs 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - Positive thought:- If you were to lose on average of a 1lb - 2lbs per week you could be a half a stone to a stone lighter by Christmas 🎄🥳

Broccoli and cheddar soup simmering and fruit compote doing the same ready for some healthier choices. We are having the soup for dinner and the compote will be due my Greek yogurt lunches from tomorrow. I'm bored of Christmas now. We went out for a walk for an hour and I feel better for that but my mood has dipped and I'm feeling a little melancholy. It will pass.
Nice to see people back 😃

TheRealHousewife · 29/12/2023 18:01

Hi Everyone

I missed out Meal 1 today and so far just had Meal 2 - beef curry and stir fried shredded sprouts and leeks. My other half had his curry with basmati rice. I Will have a platter of chopped carrot, pepper, apple, celery, grapes and small piece of cheese in half an hour.

You’re very welcome @Newbornmum . We are having a quiet one this year 🥳

@PatienceOfEngels Sounds like you’ve enjoyed your time in England. Here’s hoping you get a restful and refreshing sleep tonight 😴 We are having Roast Lamb on NYD, which will be OMAD.

@JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots Your soup sounds delish 😋. I agree it’s nice to see the thread a bit busier ❤️

Hello! I'm vaguely around! looking forward to the new year and a new thread.

I saw someone today on Instagram reminding people that you can get rid of Christmas food. You don't have to eat your way through the remaining Christmas food if you don't want it! You can donate it, gift it or chuck it. This shouldn't have been quite so mind blowing to me, but it was!

So our fridge is de-Christmassed. And wrapped things such as mince pies are going upstairs to DHs office so I don't have to look at them in the cupboard 😂

PatienceOfEngels · 30/12/2023 08:41

Just weighed myself for the first time since before our trip. Although I was up 0.5kg from my last WOW I'm only up 0.1kg from my last weigh in the morning we left, so all that angst over Christmas eating was for nothing 😂

Already in better habits in the 24 hours since we got back so fingers crossed I can start the NY off right.

TheRealHousewife · 30/12/2023 10:10

Good Morning

Hi @LemonDrizzle23 nice to know you’re still around. Looking forward to seeing you on the next thread 👍

@PatienceOfEngels Thats fabulous! You’ll soon see the rest gone!

Menu
Meal 1 - All Day Big Breakfast
Meal 2 - Minestrone Soup
Tea, black coffee, water.

It sounds like everyone is getting back into the swing of things after festive excesses. I’m halfway there: today I’ve been good with my usual yoghurt/seeds/fruit for breakfast, and I made vegetable soup for lunch (no bread), but it’s toad in the hole for dinner which is definitely off-plan, even with plenty of veg on the side.

The meal plan has a similar vibe for tomorrow and New Year’s Day but I’ll be back on it on 2 January on the new thread - thank you @TheRealHousewife for starting a new one.

I was slightly horrified to have put on almost 4lbs in the last week, but I suspect that some of it is water weight; we will see.

TheRealHousewife · 30/12/2023 17:06

Hi @NothingTraLaLa You’re very welcome. It’s tougher this time of year when the children arnt in school, there are more social gatherings that invariably involve food and drink etc. Once we are back into a regular routine it’s so much easier! You’ll soon see off that 4lbs; it won’t be fat just water and waste 👍

Well, yesterday didn't go to plan! Up in city for event with kids - no food/drink allowed to be brought into the venue and surrounded by overpriced fast food (€4,75 for a bottle of water!!!). Burger and fries for lunch, supermarket wrap and crisps on the way home. Ate much later than usually and woke up with a junk food hangover today. So far have chugged a litre of water.

Today's food:
-boiled egg and rye toast
-leftover rice and sweetcorn - will add some mushrooms and red pepper
-meatballs in gravy with mashed potatoes and broccoli/carrots

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 31/12/2023 09:57

Last weigh in of the year 56.65kg. Rude scales. It's the salt I'm sure along with lack of exercise. I'm ending the year ill too so I'm not impressed. Ds back to school on Thursday so I'll be back to walking at least 6 miles a day again and I'll soon drop that extra poundage.
Hope everyone celebrating tonight has a great time 🎉
See you on the new thread. Lots of new names on there I see 😃

TheRealHousewife · 31/12/2023 10:30

@JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots
My scales were very rude too! I share your frustration 🙃

@PatienceOfEngels That's so expensive for water. When I was younger there used to be free public water fountains (uk) but don't see them now.

Last weigh ins of 2023:-

27.12.23 - 9st 3.5lbs
29.12.23 - 9st 2lbs
31.12.23 - 9st 4lbs 🥴 😮

I can honestly say the re-gain isn't food intake related as I've been totally on point calorie wise. I have had pain meds last couple of days which I know affect my equilibrium/bloating etc. It is what it is.

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made gf pizza & side salad.
Meal 2 - Haggis, carrots, swede and mash.

I realise these meals arnt ideal considering the gain; However they were planned and the pizza dough was made yesterday and the haggis taken out of the freezer 😬🥳

See you next year 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

@TheRealHousewife pain meds completely messed up my system this month!

Change of plan for dinner - DH was feeling better so he cooked Beef Rendang (slow cooked beef stew with spices, Indonesian style) with rice, carrots and peas - delish!

Happy New Year's Eve everyone, and see you on the January thread tomorrow.

LemonDrizzle23 · 31/12/2023 21:12

Checking in to round off the year, and looking forward to (? 😂) first weigh in of the year in a few days on the new thread.

Good bye 2023, hello 2024 🥳

ThriceInALifetime · 01/01/2024 21:05

Happy New Year everyone!

Weighed myself yesterday-
SW- 11st 6Ib
CW- 11st 2.5Ib

Thought I'd actually put more on with all the eating and just stuffed myself there with steak pie and apple crumble, all homemade. Feel really bloated but have had a good time! Need to get some discipline back.

witnessprotection73 · 02/01/2024 12:54

Happy New Year all!

I’ve gone off the rails for
pretty much 2 weeks but today I’m back in it. Feel Sluggish due to carb and sugar overload! Looking forward to ‘clean’ eating and also a dry Jan ( well until our holiday on the 26th).

meal 1
fritata ( no potatoes)
salad

meal 2
we have a Green chef box but I can remember what ordered! Hopefully something non meat based.

xx

TheRealHousewife · 02/01/2024 14:01

Good Afternoon

@PatienceOfEngels im not expecting any meaningful loss this month due to the meds I’m taking (short term) I can accept this as long as I don’t gain either! 🤞

Hi @ThriceInALifetime Your menu sounds very tasty! Like you say you’ll soon be in your normal routine 👍

Welcome back @witnessprotection73 Mostly everyone has been in a different routine the past 2 weeks. You’re still showing an overall loss so that’s positive 👍
