CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN EDITION.

8 week countdown to Christmas. November brings a fresh new month to become a healthier version of yourself. If you’re up for being your best self in time for the festivities you’ve come to the right place.

These threads are for those who’d like to stay healthy, lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and to exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 8st 12lbs. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back (mainly) on track. I Would love to wave bye to another few lbs 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - Positive thought:- If you were to lose on average of a 1lb - 2lbs per week you could be a half a stone to a stone lighter by Christmas 🎄🥳

Feeling like such a pig right now. Context I suppose is I'm very tired from the last few days, both kids been waking me for various reasons and am getting quite achey, can't tell if it's the classes/shifts or whether I'm coming down with whatever DD has.. anyway, I had an awful lazy early lunch, consisting of the leftover pizza from last night, most of a cheese omelette (DD wanted some) and a bag of crisps. Have drank a LOT of water so far today to try and mitigate my bad choices but I can't say I'm confident for the scales on Friday. Boooooo.

Of for a nap now while DD in bed, hoping I awake feeling a bit more sprightly so I can cook a healthier dinner before work tonight. Yawn.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 29/11/2023 13:20

I need to update my recent food.

So I caved and had a whole big bag of Pop Chips last night. Plus a graze lemon blueberry flapjack at work today. I also got a free latte from Greggs (but not the salted caramel one with cream even though I asked for it!). On the upside I forgot cottage cheese so had rye Ryvita without it which must’ve shaved off some calories!

So @ImALittlePea don’t feel too bad about your bad choices, honestly they’re not too bad and you can claw back calories with water, eating better/less etc. that’s what my weightwatchers class tells us anyway.

NothingTraLaLa · 29/11/2023 14:37

I was expecting to have gained this week as I’ve had the lurgy which has led to a few less healthy easy dinners (and one takeaway) because I wasn’t feeling up to cooking much. I also couldn’t summon the will to log my food on Zoe - I have been really good at that for months but I was just shattered and it fell by the wayside.

So I was surprised to discover that I have lost about half a pound since last week, much better than anticipated. This is my mince pie buffer 😁

SW 128 lbs
CW 117.6 lbs
TW was 119 lbs, will be 115 lbs after Christmas

Bikechic · 29/11/2023 17:41

Down 1/2 lb which is first loss in a long while, so I'm pleased.

ThriceInALifetime · 29/11/2023 18:08

SW- 11st 6lbs
CW- 10st 13.8lbs

Just under 11 stone, lost 2 lbs since last week. A bit better this week but should really be stricter! Have been doing more exercise which is something.

Well done everyone!

2Early4Breakfast · 29/11/2023 18:45

I've lost about half a pound. Had a difficult start to the day which was entirely my own fault. Ate to plan after 10am, then became overwhelmed because I was so upset at how I had dealt with the crappy stuff earlier in the day. So I had a couple of home-made lattes instead of lunch. I'm pleased to say I did not even think of ordering in or drive-thru, and I'm about to have my final food of today and then close the kitchen and drink tea. The massive cravings are away.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 29/11/2023 19:03

Hello all, I fell off these threads a few months back and have since gained back 2kg. I want to get motivated again particularly before Christmas so I don’t end up gorging on everything in sight. I also want to reverse the gaining trend before I get back to many of the 12kg this thread helped me loose!

rainbow616 · 29/11/2023 19:32

Hi everyone,
I had a baby 10 months ago and I'm actually the lightest I've been in a long time, but I would like to lose 1 1/2 stone at least!

SW 13 stone

Wish me luck and good luck to everyone else!

secondtimemumma · 29/11/2023 20:34

Lost 0.7kg this week really happy with that!
Well done everyone on the losses!

Hows everyone feeling about staying on track over December?

Spudlover · 29/11/2023 20:36

Well done to everyone who lost.

@GonnaGetGoingReturns I like that philosophy and thinks it’s wise. My WW leader always used to say don’t let a bad meal turn into a bad day turn into a bad week. Dust yourself down and crack on. Although I do think there is no such thing as bad food, it’s just food, I still like the idea of drawing a line under it.

@NothingTraLaLa love the idea of a mince pie buffer 😁

Good luck @rainbow616

Ok day for me. I did have a Chinese but just a stir fried main course which is hopefully ok. Nothing deep friend and no rice.

Porridge and berries
Chicken salad
Wasabi peas
Prawn and vegetable stir fry

Novembershine · 29/11/2023 21:13

Really pleased today as I’ve lost a whole stone now. It’s taken two months and I’m starting to see a difference and feel a difference in my clothes.

SW 11st
CW 9st 13

rainbow616 · 29/11/2023 21:14

@Novembershine wow well done!!

LemonDrizzle23 · 29/11/2023 21:57

Well done to all who weighed in today! I'm jumping back on the thread after yet another two weeks of illness. Maybe covid? Who knows at this point. I've managed to avoid too much of a gain, but November has been a bit of a wipe out!
We get back on the horse... looking forward to continuing the countdown to Christmas!

Good Morning Love GIF by ircha_gram

Good Morning All

Thank you @GonnaGetGoingReturns 👍

Congratulations on your losses 👏👏👏👏 Absolutely fabulous progress! 👌@Novembershine 👌

For those of you who might disappointed with their results … don’t be! Weight, like life isn’t linear. So many variable factors that can derail people’s best intentions. The fact you are still logging, posting and endeavouring to do your best is an achievement in itself. Success isn’t always about the numbers ❤️

@LemonDrizzle23 Sorry to read you’ve been poorly. There are some real rubbish viruses about at the moment.

@rainbow616 Welcome to the thread and congratulations on the arrival of your new baby👍

Welcome back @Allthegoodnamestakken ❤️

Menu
Meal 1 - Minestrone Soup. Pecans.
Meal 2 - Chicken, pea and potato tray bake. Chopped apple and Greek yogurt.
Tea, black coffee and water.

PS - I’m not starting a specific December thread as I feel this thread covers it with it being the 🥳Christmas Countdown Thread🥳. I’ll be starting a fresh thread in January 2024.

@secondtimemumma Most of December will be pretty much like normal for me. I don't have a lot of social events planned so easier to stay in my routine. Have you read Katherine May's book Wintering? It's definitely my approach to life - I love to hibernate in the dark days and get some rest, nourish myself rather than going crazy with nights out like I did when I was younger.

The tricky bit's going to be Christmas week because we're on holiday back in the UK visiting family. I know my mum - she will buy so much yummy stuff (mince pies, cakes, chocolate, shortbread, Bailey's, all the cheese) - but I've had such good habits the last 2 months that I hope I can stick to them. I'm saying a blanket no to booze (putting myself in "easy mode"!) and will stay caffeine. I will make sure we have healthy stuff in to make batches of soup for lunches during the week and I'm bringing my favourite bread with me for breakfast (as I hate British supermarket bread - it makes me feel awful).

My brother is also currently on SW so I know he won't be eating like he used to either which will help. I definitely want to be able to enjoy my mum's roast dinner though!

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 30/11/2023 11:57

Dd asked a few days ago if it was too early to make mince pies. Yes. But anything goes from December 1st. I can take them or leave them so they shouldn't be too hard to resist.

It's really cold and I just want to sit drinking tea and watching Christmas films. I have loads to do though and can't justify too much sitting today. Nothing good to eat here either so I think it's porridge for lunch! I'm out of yogurt again and it tenues me completely if I can't have that for lunch. I'll pick some up later today but I'm not going back out there until I have to.

We took the long way through the woods and along the canal to school and I returned the same way. Safer than risking the main road when it's icy. It was beautiful in the early morning sun with the icy canal and pond and crisp frozen leaves underfoot.

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 30/11/2023 11:58

We are very lucky that this is our school run. I'm glad of the lack of rain but we had some flurries of snow when we left the house this morning. I love snow!

1 lbs loss for me this week. Really happy with that. I made some changes and stuck to them and it's paid off. So I am determined to do the same this week also.

Putting the Christmas tree up this weekend so really looking forward to that. I want to keep away from too many treats but I am certainly going to allow myself a hot chocolate of an evening.

TOTM this week also so fingers crossed that doesn't affect anything too much. But if I do see a gain at least I'll know primarily where it would have come from but shall worry about that if and when it happens.

SW 13 stone 10
CW 13 stone 9.5
IG 12 stone 13.5
TW 9 stone

Hope everyone has a good week 😊

Allthegoodnamestakken · 30/11/2023 12:53

@JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots thats beautiful, I am headed home for Christmas this year and praying for snow, it will be the first north of the equator snow in 5 years!

@LeftyLou Also planning to get my decs up this weekend and so excited to do it, i've been resisting for weeks.

Bit of a fail today as I had made plans before deciding to get back on the wagon, so diet offically starts Saturday. Planning my previous method of IF until 1pm each day and not cutting anything out but reducing portions and trying to make healthier choices in general.

NothingTraLaLa · 30/11/2023 13:00

What a beautiful view @JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots

PieonaBarm · 01/12/2023 07:06

Weigh in day for me. Went back to check my original stats. This morning I'm 1.5lb off, 10lb in 4 weeks, pretty pleased with that. Would like a stone before I go away on 17th so need to be focused!

SW 13st 3.5lb
CW 12st 7.5lb
GW 11st 7lb

Onwards and upwards!!

TheRealHousewife · 01/12/2023 07:23

Good Morning Everyone & Happy December 1st! 🎄🥳🎄🥳🎄

December is notoriously difficult to navigate. However alls not lost. If you’re wanting to still lose or maintain over the festive period, planning is your friend. I’ve been know to have ‘dessert’ as a meal (not wanting to bust calorie allowance) and eat a little less the day before/after any celebratory meals 👍 Little tweaks can save the day … as well as your waistline 😬 Some might want to throw abandon to the wind and eat and be merry until new year … that’s fine too as long as it’s done without shame or regret. Enjoy yourselves, it’s good for the soul ❤️

Fabulous photos @JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots 😍

@PieonaBarm Great result! 👍👌

@LeftyLou Nice steady loss 👏

Morning all! Happy 1st December!

Somehow managed to STS this week. V relieved with that. I feel like a broken record, but hopefully next week will be calmer with fewer curveballs and I can stick to planned meals, classes and the like! Be nice to see a bit more of a drop before festivetide bits!
