I don't agree that there is a need to reduce to 1200 cals.

I am 5ft 8in, sedentary, 39 and currently weigh 209lb

A TDEE calculator puts my maintenance calories at 2006, if I eat below that I should lose weight. I have my goal set to 1600, sometimes come in a bit under, sometimes a bit over and I'm losing 2lb a week steadily. I find water makes the biggest difference. If I make sure that I drink at least 1ltr of plain water a day I lose that week. If I forget and get lax and just have my normal coffee/Diet Coke then I don't lose weight that week.

That’s what I thought. My maintenance calories are well over 2000 so I was fine with the MFP suggestion of circa 1500.
I’ll track with weighing everything this week and see where I’m at. I have to be honest that a few weeks of not seeing any result has made me less accurate than I started off being. I am still hungry and as I said not experiencing any side effects at all - if you told me my juniper pen was a placebo I’d believe you. Fingers crossed the higher dose starts to trigger something and I will add in some 800cal days to shift things along too. Onwards.

MiniCooperLover · 18/06/2023 08:22

I was away with work so had very little options food wise to be healthy but I did manage not to snack and drank my body weight in water and tea to try to counteract. Back on it now and determined to see things moving again 👍

MiniCooperLover · 18/06/2023 08:23

Also my fitness pal recommends 1410 to me to lose so going to restart tracking again 👌

MiniCooperLover · 18/06/2023 08:24

Sorry misread it, sadly it now says 1290 😂

Isabeller · 18/06/2023 08:33

Thank you for this really helpful thread. My experience is similar to a lot of other posters on here. Ozempic gives my best efforts (which are very modest due to family demands) a chance of success. I sometimes have nasty side effects but they are manageable so far and preferable to remaining as heavy as I was with the likelihood of gaining more weight in the long run.

It sounds as if people are getting their medication several different ways that I’m not familiar with. I have a prescription posted to me by a consultant which I then try and find a local pharmacy to fill. It can be hit and miss.

Quickmeds sounds expensive but convenient. Can you use it one off?

My hope with Ozempic is to significantly change my bmi over the course of 2 years. I’m in my second year now and happy to be making progress, not as quickly as some here but without Ozempic I would most likely have lost and gained a few pounds and be feeling very down.

My understanding is that once I’ve lost enough weight I’ll need a maintenance dose, possibly for life. It’s hard to fund but felt close to a life and death issue.

I’ve had help from the doctor with side effects. I was prescribed omeprazole from quite early on and take it daily. I now also have cyclizine for nausea two or three days a week. I’m going to try some of the things mentioned on this thread too.

MuMuMuuuum · 18/06/2023 08:56

@FatAgainItsLettuceTime well done on your progress!

I've just finished week 18 and I'm down 21.5lbs. I'm a slow loser but I'm happy it's all going in the right direction. I'm taking 0.75mg a week I could probably go up to 1mg but I'm a little bit scared of that dose and worried about availability at the moment.

Peridot1 · 18/06/2023 10:09

@Isabeller - most people on here are buying Ozempic privately from online pharmacies as we can’t easily get it prescribed. You can buy from Quick Meds as a one off - IF they have stock. It’s very hit and miss at the moment.

@VanellopeVonSchweetz99 - sounds like a great holiday and great results. Especially the not being invisible bit!

I have, as of today, lost 2st! Very happy with that. Have been taking Ozempic for 11 weeks. Just upped to 1mg pen Friday and definitely felt side affects yesterday but so far better today.

For those that it works for I do feel it is absolutely life changing. As someone said above I hope to get my BMI down to normal range where I have not been for tens of years. Currently BMI is 34ish. Was 38ish.

Diedre44 · 18/06/2023 15:35

Afternoon all. Little update from me. I'm week 13 and decided to go 0.75mg instead of straight to 1.0mg to see if it made any difference/minimise the side effects I'd been experiencing and I have to say seems made a big difference. I've had near to normal bowels this week and only had very minimal nausea which was just laying in bed this morning. I have averaged around 60g of carbs a day this week and had a take away meal on Thursday albeit much, much less than I would have had previously still counted in to my calories for the week and have come in under my weekly allowance. It's all about being mindful throughout the week not just focusing on the daily intake for me.
Anyway I've lost 3lb this week and I'm literally buzzing. If I manage 2lb this week it'll be 3 stones in 3.5 months. I could cry with happiness.
I got down to 17st 2lb in March 2020 doing keto which is the lightest I'd been since 1998 and then Covid hit, food shortages and lockdown hit harder and found I was cooking mounds of pasta, started baking my own bread, making pies and cakes in an anxiety induced kind of panic and piled it all back on.

SW 20ST 8LB
CW 17ST 10lb
Interim GW 15st 8lb
I can do this, I will do this.

mumwheresmyribena · 18/06/2023 17:46

Hey all. I'm now up to 1mg after staying on 0.5 until the end of May; I've been on Ozempic since mid-Feb. My losses are slower than many but I'm still really pleased especially as I spent 6 weeks 'off-plan' (actually minimally on-plan) for various life reasons. I've now lost just over 12.5kg, lost 6% body fat and gained 2kg of muscle. I've also managed to accrue nearly £200 in £5s and £10s from when I reach the mini-targets on my targets and tip sheet 😅

In addition, my body shape has changed a lot, I've rediscovered my shorts and tank tops and feel very on-trend doing my yoga in a croptop and cycling shorts! Still a fair way to go but I'll happily creep along like this until the end is in sight.

Twilightstarbright · 18/06/2023 20:57

Well done on the progress here, really inspiring.

After a week of no change I’ve dropped 3lb so I’m 18lb down in total in two months. I started at BMI 28.5 but have PCOS and other comorbidities and I’m of an ethnicity the NHS recommends a lower BMI for so I (and my consultant) feel I should keep going a bit longer.

The arthritis in my hip has improved significantly which is great, and I’m wearing clothes I’ve not worn in years.

Peridot1 · 19/06/2023 08:07

Some great results.

I need to get my head in the game as they say. I’ve been pretty complacent as it worked so well for me initially with really no effort. But now I need to put in the effort. After a good week three weeks ago where I nudged down just under 13 stone I am still there. We had a lot going on and that always leads to wine for me. I have a plan for this week and will weigh in again on Saturday.

Has anybody managed to source any stock at the moment?!

MiniCooperLover · 19/06/2023 09:31

AndSoFinally, I've not had any issues getting my pens from MyJuniper (though I'm aware they're the priciest), they've not told me anything re stock issues on their part.

OzHopes · 19/06/2023 10:00

@Peridot1 I’m very similar to you although about a stone heavier (sitting about 13st 12lbs) and I’ve plateaued for the last two weeks as I’ve just not put enough effort in. I’ve been vague about calories and snacking etc. Am annoyed at myself as this is a very expensive way to lose weight and I should be making the most of it so I’m trying harder from today.
To the pp about supplies, I got lucky with Quick Meds and persevering after 6pm for a lot of days before getting my last pen.

Andrasa · 19/06/2023 13:11

I bought a new dress at the weekend which was a lovely experience! Everything I tried on fit without feeling like it was just highlighting my stomach or my chest was falling out of it, even if some were more flattering than others. Then four different people told me it looked nice. 😊 finally feeling like my weight loss is visible.

waistchallenge · 19/06/2023 14:46

@Andrasa (I'm not using Ozempic yet but am just here to check it out) I noticed that too when buying clothes. Actually I went a bit over the top in charity shops (can't afford new) at first because I was so used to buying anything that looked half decent, I ended up with this pile of clothes before I realised I need to or can be more selective now!

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 19/06/2023 15:08

Unsure how this week will go as away for work for 2 days so will be eating out for every meal, on the other hand I'll be walking a lot and may not actually have time for all meals so could lose, gain or stay the same depending on how it turns out.

caringcarer · 19/06/2023 18:05

Hi everyone, I've been taking Ozempic for almost 3 months now and lost 2 stones and 8 lb. This last week I've actually put on 0.4kg. The week before I only lost 0.7kg. Previous to that I had been losing about 1.3kg every week. I'm eating the same meals and I'm now walking a lot more as my back is not aching as much. Can anyone think why the weight loss has stopped? I'm getting worried as I've still got a lot of weight to lose. I have to see the practice nurse on Wednesday for a weigh in. I've only lost 3.2kg this month. Prior to this I was losing 5+kg each month.

AndSoFinally · 19/06/2023 18:20

Where is the green reorder button on the quick meds site?! Am I being blind?

Can someone post a screen shot so I know what I'm looking for as there is definitely nothing showing up on my phone. Thanks

caringcarer · 19/06/2023 18:26

@Athena51 you are a legend.

Have you recalculated your calories allowance?

Do a TDEE calculator, as you lose weight you need less calories to maintain your weight so you have to drop your allowance.

Also make sure you are getting plenty of water. It really does seem to help.

OzHopes · 19/06/2023 19:31

@caringcarer you’re still losing around half a stone a month and that’s pretty good, the larger losses are in the first months but it levels out. It’s still a really great amount of weight to lose.
