I'm just curious what others would think my likely weight is from this picture. I'm 5ft 2 for reference.

Don't be a cow

The guess of 18st is only one stone and a couple of pounds off the OP's actual weight, so calling the poster a cow is uncalled for.

The guesses of 10 stone are absolutely ridiculous. The OP is obese and looks obese in the photo.

OP, well done on your weight loss. I hope that you manage to lose a significant amount of weight to bring you into the healthy weight range. Whilst you might not have any weight associated health problems now, that is liable to change as you age.

I see quite the opposite @Kanaloa, a load of posters rushing to say 16 stone looks great and they can't believe it etc.

Well, she does look great, and she is unusually toned/shapely for 16 stone. That doesn’t mean anyone is saying she should stay that way, especially given she has expressly stated that she’s actively trying to lose weight. The two things don’t have to be connected. In an ideal world, nobody would lose weight in order to look a certain way. They would eat well in order to fuel their body efficiently and exercise regularly to keep everything working as well as possible. Looks wouldn’t come into it.

herewego9 · 30/05/2023 19:49

It's about looks in the sense that it's very obvious when someone is 6 stone overweight @peachgreen

Well, yeah. And?

herewego9 · 30/05/2023 20:06

And you think being overweight looks great, I don't. We won't agree but hopefully the op is on a journey to ouch better health.

Custardonthehob · 30/05/2023 20:11

Wishing you all the best starting the weight management intervention. Hope it helps you get off the weight loss/gain cycle. There's a brilliant book called Fat Talk, Growing up in Diet Culture. Can't recommend it enough.

Chispazo · 30/05/2023 22:05

I've read all your posts now so I know you say nearly 17 stone but my guess was 15 stone.

Last December I was 11 stone and 5'1 and I wouldnt have thought you looked 6 stone more in that photo.

My weight loss is slow. S l o w. But it is coming off. 10 stone now.

Keep going even when you plateau.

No, I said OP looks great. Being overweight and being attractive aren’t mutually exclusive. They’re not inextricably linked either. Entirely separate things. I know plenty of gorgeous fat people and plenty of unattractive thin people, as well as (of course) the other way around.

Freefall212 · 31/05/2023 16:00

@herewego9

People carry weight in different ways. Even at the same height. If you took 100 5'2" women who weighed 17 stone, they wouldn't all look the same and some would have more visible fat (rolls or big tummy or really big hips etc) than OP. People are saying it is great that OP can carry her weight in such a well distributed way that she doesn't have some of the clothing / aesthetic issues that other people of a similar weight have.

OP has said she is in a weightloss program. People commenting that she doesn't look 17 stone are usually comparing it themselves and how they carry weight and how they look. If they weigh less but have more visible fat, they might feel heavier. I had guessed she was quite a bit lighter as I know my height and weight and thought she only looked slightly heavier than I look. We are also looking at a 2 dimensional picture.

This is a skewed sample - we also have people on here saying they are overweight with a BMI of 21.

Rainyday4321 · 28/05/2023 21:47

You carry it well and it’s a nice outfit.

However - that doesn’t matter- you are significantly and unhealthily overweight.

Which you know….

totally agree

Iaminthestables · 24/12/2023 07:56

Well, I’d have said 16st but cheated and didn’t read through all the guesses.

Glad you’re attempting to reduce it to a healthier figure (no pun) as it’s an all over win.

Good luck with your goals.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 24/12/2023 11:29

I'm now 13st 2 with a bmi of 33. It was 43. I've lost 3st 10 in just over 7 months.

Well done, how have you been doing it?

JANetChick · 24/12/2023 12:45

Wow, you look great!

ThisMustBeMyDream · 24/12/2023 13:20

Saxenda. It has been like a miracle drug for me. Not easy to get hold of, but I'm still managing just about. And not cheap. But it works. 1-2lb a week losses.

OP posts:
lljkk · 24/12/2023 13:41

that pic looks so much like the lady who said she was 6'5" last night (asking for weight guesses)

CornishGem1975 · 24/12/2023 20:51

I am same height as you and just over 10 stone and honestly I look 3 dress sizes bigger than you do!

ThisMustBeMyDream · 26/02/2025 19:51

And here is the final result. Thought I'd update for the naysayers! I did it! I'm now 10st, and a size 8. Never have I ever been this weight as an adult. I've put the 2 pics for comparison. I've got 3lb to go to my target of bmi 25, (and will have lost 100lb or 7st 2) but I'm really happy regardless of that. I lift weights. I run. I'm a totally different person to me 2 years ago. And I'm so fucking happy!

AtomicBlondeRose · 26/02/2025 20:05

Wowser! Well done, that’s such a lot of hard work but you did it!

Princessfluffy · 26/02/2025 20:43

I thought 13 stone

Princessfluffy · 26/02/2025 20:46

Oops I should have read the whole thread before posting!

Congrats OP

Booklover40 · 26/02/2025 22:38

I've just read the whole thread again, I was on it in 2023 😂

You look fantastic OP, well done. How have you found Saxenda? Have you had any side effects? How long has it been from starting to now? I've started taking mounjaro about 5 weeks ago and have already lost a stone 🥳 another 2 stone to go.

Booklover40 · 26/02/2025 22:39

You really do carry the weight well btw - you no way look 10 stone at 5"2".
