Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Good Morning All

That looks delicious @AutisticLegoLover 😋

Sorry to read that @buzzofthebumblebee I can understand your frustration. Hopefully you’ll find a solution that works for you.

@greenspaces4peace Great trek!

@Bikechic Hope you find your groove soon. Sugar eating = craving more sugar eating. It becomes a cycle that’s tough but not impossible to break. Plenty of good fats, protein and water will help. Good luck.

@SingaporeSlinky Great step count! Well done 👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Roast chicken dinner - cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, peas, roast potatoes, onion gravy.
Meal 2 - Home made vegetable soup.
Tea, black coffee & water

Enjoy your Sunday ❤️

Shared a few pics from our break.

Wow - great photos @TheRealHousewife - absolutely gorgeous view & reflections. Interesting bird silhouette - you've captured them at it - in a threesome too. Great photography skills ; )

TheRealHousewife · 12/03/2023 11:50

@buzzofthebumblebee thank you that's kind of you to say. I had more to share but for some reason wouldn't post. The bird one I had to clip for it to post.

Beautiful photos RealHousewife such stunning light!

Very weekendy weekend over here with relatives staying, and an Indian takeaway last night. Fully enjoyed it - can't remember the name but it was a dish with lamb and paneer.

Today:
Breakfast - 1x sourdough toast, 2x coffees, 2 of those Dutch caramel waffle things

Lunch - egg fried rice with leftover pilau 😉 plus green salad, olives and whatever other fibre I can find to help things along 😱

Dinner - chicken and veg pasta. Probably dessert too!

Hope everyone's having a good weekend. Looking forward to a more normal schedule again 😴

buzzofthebumblebee · 12/03/2023 17:22

Long run done - 10 miles. Lovely hot bath after.
B - porridge, blueberries & yoghurt
L - mushroom & egg friend rice with leftover basmati
D - roast chicken dinner
Carb heavy, but it's what I need to be doing pre and post long run. Would normally only have 1 portion carbs a day.

Bad night sleep - woken by DS in the small hours. Sadly it doesn't stop once they all grow up & reach 18- he'd overdone it at a party and was poorly. I left him to it. Did take him pint water and toast this morning (well, technically this aft). He was very grumpy with me. I didn't take it personally ; )

MKD1 · 12/03/2023 20:09

I've had a pretty crappie week after my weigh in on Monday! Not looking forward to weighing myself in the morning!

Finding weekend difficult with IF, as the kids are constantly asking for snacks and the morning 'drags'.

Not eaten well at all this week, so expecting a weight gain! :(

greenspaces4peace · 12/03/2023 21:16

I understand @MKD1 its not always easy.
I might be making good fitness choices but my good ones need way more focus.

It's difficult isn't it. I'm aiming to try and go for a long walk this week. Even if its just one day.

AutisticLegoLover · 12/03/2023 23:32

Ending the day 333 calories under my goal. Rubbish day eating wise and I'm feeling very sad and tearful after the end of Endeavour for reasons connected to the show. Not a lot of exercise today. I focused on watching endeavour rather than bouncing my way through it like normal. It's not been a great week for various reasons so I'm hoping tomorrow is the start of a better one.

I'm starting to wonder how I'll maintain my goal weight when I get there...

Ninjachicken · 13/03/2023 08:09

Good morning, it’s been a lovely weekend here. Birthday celebrations yesterday for DH and my daughters birthday tomorrow. It’s birthday season for us !
i am the same @TheRealHousewife and @SingaporeSlinky . I need to stay under 1200 calories to lose anything. Feeling more motivated today and I am going to meal plan and start exercise again.
we also had roast chicken and Yorkshire puddings this weekend. And mini ones with beef and horseradish yesterday as part of a birthday tea.
love the sound of sticky toffee pudding and Madagascan vanilla custard slinky. It’s just as well you can’t get things like that here 😁
beautiful pics @TheRealHousewife and @greenspaces4peace makes me want to get outside!
lamb and paneer curry sounds amazing @Cloudberries123 sounds like a lovely weekend
i listen to a lot too @Lionnose when dog walking , cleaning etc. Always looking for good recommendations if you have any
have a good week everyone

MKD1 · 13/03/2023 08:46

Morning all, have Weighes Myself and have had 1lb gain. Which is surprising as I thought it would be more.

I really need to do better at eating this week, and do more walking. I feel a bit stressed work wise but the kids always keep me busy.

Been avoiding going out in the rain as I don't like rain, but I want a dog so I need to really change my mind set!

TheRealHousewife · 13/03/2023 09:36

Good Morning Everyone

Weekend went so fast!

Thank you @Cloudberries123 @Ninjachicken They were taken at the end of the day after a sunny afternoon sitting on the balcony overlooking the lake.

@buzzofthebumblebee Great run yesterday! Well done! 👍👏🥇

@MKD1 We all have weeks that don’t go to plan. The main thing is moving on from it, getting back to it and don’t beat yourself up ❤️ In the scheme of things 1lbs nothing 😊

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made chicken and veg soup.
Meal 2 - Bubble and squeak from yesterdays leftover roast. HP brown sauce on the side 😋
Tea, black coffee and water.

Enjoy your day!

Lionnose · 13/03/2023 10:18

@buzzofthebumblebee - don’t tell me that! I’m banking on my kids not waking me up one day. It’s been 5 years of nightly wakes and I am praying they will stop soon and never reappear. 😂

@Ninjachicken - do you listen to books or podcasts? If you listen to books what sort of genres are you into? I can recommend ones that my book club all seemed to enjoy but find that if it’s one I’ve listened to on my own and recommended to someone they don’t always agree. My favourite book I read last year I gave someone for Christmas and they said it was ‘the bleakest book they have ever read’

@TheRealHousewife - I love bubble and squeak!

Todays menu – oats, yogurt and berries, banana cookies, cottage pie, fish fingers chips and mushy peas. Yesterday was all over the place food wise. I missed lunch so snacked quite a lot but think I did ok overall. I was feeling a bit hungry at bedtime so assume I didn’t overeat. Hoping for a slight loss on Weds.

ImALittlePea · 13/03/2023 11:41

Morning all!

Agree @TheRealHousewife that weekend flew by!! Lovely pics too 😊

Enjoyable weekend here. Out with friends Friday, home by 11. Worked Saturday daytime and then had Mexican and prosecco with DH Saturday night. Yesterday was a chilled day, MIL did us a roast dinner with pudding. Didn't really snack much though and managed a decent step count most days.

Did my dance class this morning 💃 out at an appointment with DS now and then going home to eat. He's having McDonald's on the way back to school - I'm determined not to have any myself 😬

Plan:
Lunch - leftover fajita chicken & veg salad
Dinner - not planned yet, possibly sausage, chips and beans, or maybe spag bol.

Should probably get back to logging on MFP but feels like such a faff with meals like the leftover fajita chicken & veg.

Wishing everyone a positive and focussed week!

Ninjachicken · 13/03/2023 12:45

@Lionnose i listen to podcasts and books. But mostly free content as I find the audible books so expensive. Currently listening to the shamima begum podcast on bbc sounds which I really like. Current read is démon copperhead by Barbara kingsolver. I will give most things a go!
@ImALittlePea well done on getting home by 11pm on Friday night!!! Not sure I would have managed that 😂

ImALittlePea · 13/03/2023 13:16

Haha @Ninjachicken I'm not known for my willpower/off switch on a night out, and the group I was with were trying to persuade me to stay out later, but I dug my heels in for a couple of reasons and was very glad for that come Saturday!

(Probably won't encourage me to do the same in the future though 👀😂)

Cloudberries123 · 13/03/2023 14:10

Ah you sound like you're a lot of fun on an evening out LittlePea 😁

Still in an iffy headspace foodwise and reacting to the recent attempt to give up sugar for Lent by... overdoing it on the sugar. I know that the answer lies in moderation on all things but that feels about as real as a unicorn to me at the moment. I'm so used to all or nothing!

Breakfast - 2x slices sourdough toast, butter, homemade jam. Tea, water

Snack - mocha, packet of Lu chocolate biscuits (if you've never tried them, don't. They are irresistible)

Lunch - leftover chilli, 1x slice toast, coffee

Dinner - creamy leek and potato bake

Goal for this week: work on kindness and self-acceptance and see if that impacts the sugar eating. And maybe prep a bowl of chopped up fruit for snacks every day, as the fruit is currently sitting looking very neglected in the kitchen 😂

Happy Monday troopers!

buzzofthebumblebee · 13/03/2023 19:39

Evening everyone. Quick check in (so pols for not name checking).
B - blueberries & keffir yoghurt
L - cold cauli cheese, oat cakes, 1/2 avocado & some nut butter (yes - odd combination but down to builders in kitchen, so grabbed what I could !)
D - leftover roast chicken dinner, but should be fairly OK as only 1 roast potato left, rest all boiled veg. Lots of gravy though.
S - resisting. Want WOW to be good this week.
Thinking of you all. Every little bit not eaten makes all the difference!

SingaporeSlinky · 13/03/2023 20:23

45 min LBT class and 20 mins spin done. 16,000 steps today.

Skyr, strawberries and granola for lunch.
Leftover roast chicken plus egg, cheese, ham and onion muffins for dinner. Weird combo but trying to up my protein.

Keep on keeping on!

AutisticLegoLover · 13/03/2023 20:50

Evening all. I'm still in a bit of a funk and not feeling great but it's on and off and weird. Food has been good today.
B: porridge as usual
Lunch: Greek yogurt and cherry compote
Dinner: butternut squash soup and petit pains
Snacks: more yogurt and cherries, and crisps. I fancied something salty.

Calories are 1570 and I've walked 11 miles.

It's weird now to get on the scales at night in my pyjamas and weigh 59 point whatever. It's been like that for a while now and I can't believe I'm consistently under 60kg even at the end of the day with light clothing. I should be due a drop soon but it's slow going.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

I've got tomorrow and Wednesday off this week and plan on sorting the kitchen and my bedroom tomorrow then Wednesday I'm taking Dd shopping. She's off school because of the strikes and wants some time with just me.

TheRealHousewife · 14/03/2023 07:36

Morning all
@TheRealHousewife hope you had a lovely break, those pictures are wonderful such pretty colours!
@Cloudberries123 I like your goals for the week! I am a sugar junkie also and find little and often works for me. Any attempt to give it up and I just end up binging.
@SingaporeSlinky Well done on your steps!!
@AutisticLegoLover hope you are feeling better soon, if it carries on could you get your vitamin/mineral levels checked? I feel really awful if my b12 or iron is even slightly low.

I weighed myself this morning to see the damage of a lot of fizz over the weekend and I am still 65.5kg so my goal to get back to at least maintaining seems to have worked! Now to get back to losing.

Lionnose · 14/03/2023 07:50

Morning all

@Ninjachicken I listened to Boy friends by Michael Pedersen on my library app which I really enjoyed.
Also The Midwife by Tricia Cresswell & Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus was enjoyed by my whole book club, they are both on the library app I hope the library audiobooks are as good where you are. Ours are hit and miss but at the moment they appear to have a good selection.

@Cloudberries123 Sorry to hear you aren’t in a good headspace. I hope you have woken up this morning feeling much better. Leek and potato bake sounds delicious, do you have a recipe you could share?

@AutisticLegoLover I have the same thing at 60kg I just stall, everytime. You are doing a great job at sticking to your calories and exercising loads so I’m sure it will start dropping soon.

@Allthegoodnamestakken Glad to see you are hitting your goal at the moment. Hope you can loose again soon.

My DS was up last night being sick so I’m very tired today. I’m in the office on my own which could be a good thing as I can turn the music up loud and try to get on with my work. Well I have to get my work done as I’m off tomorrow as well due to the strikes. I’m hoping to spend the day with my DS as AutisticLegoLover is. I think we will go swimming, play with some Lego and Playdough and maybe make some food together. Alongside reading and writing practice.

Menu today
Porridge
Apple with either Banana cookie or chocolate hazelnut slice mini bites
Sweet potato with veggie chilli
Lamb meatball rogan josh
Yesterday I said I was having fish fingers, chips and mushy peas but luckily for me we changed it for lamb wraps which were delicious!
Hope you all have a good day and I’m looking forward to my first WOW tomorrow!

SingaporeSlinky · 14/03/2023 09:59

45 min Pump class done and on spin bike at the mo. Still struggling with heavier weights so I end up having 2 barbells, one loaded with 5kgs and one with 2.5kgs for anything overhead. I wonder how long it takes to build up enough strength to be comfortable upping weights?

No snacks yesterday, trying to make up for having chocolate on Sunday. I think I’d thought about it so much I was surprised I hadn’t given in and ended the day on target for calories yesterday at least.

Usual lunch and still have roast chicken leftover from Saturday so probably chicken and chips for dinner.

Have a good day all!
